If they come to our country they should embrace our religion our customs and our traditions and not expect to build their own in this country ,WE wouldn,t be allowed to in their country in fact we have to cover up if we go to their country ...so when in Rome...!!!!!!!

This is a ridiculous petition based on ignorant racist views. There are several churches in the area which no one objects to and a mosque shouldn't bring trouble unless people against the mosque plan on causing any based on the small minded views above.

If you're objecting based on the location then it's true this is a busy road and the planning permission should have to cater to rectifying this.

there are 4 mosques in ashton already why put one in stalybridge is 4 not enough 1 on kings road, one just off princess st, one on the hillgate which was only just built and its huge. one in westend so why try and put another right in the middle of the bridge think of the residents that have to live near by its wrong!!!!!

There are too many mosques that are just a breeding ground for jihad, they cannot be policed and need to be closed down. When can Christians be able to open a church in a muslim country?

What a bunch of closet racists you lot are. If it was a new church, not one of you would blink an eye, and there are at least 4 of them within 10mins of my house.

So instead of hiding behind "oh there's one in Ashton", "the road will get busy" why not just come out and say what you mean - "I'm an ignorant, daily mail reading, brain-washed racist, who thinks all Muslims are terrorists"

Idiots.

Hell no. Theres plenty of mosque around Ashton & Hyde. Sick of it all being about the Muslim communities and what they want. Certainly don't need one on the main road near where i live. If they don't like it then they can move. Can see the place being vandalised for fun if it happens. Right on the main road and by all the pubs. Great idea chaps. What dumbass thought of that. Certainly dint want my kids near that place if it opens

I cannot believe how many ignorant racist people that are still around in this day and age! If someone told you that there was a church a couple of towns away you could go to you would be up in arms. Also if the point is that the areas around mosques get so busy does that not prove that there are not enough of them around? As for the building of a mosque bringing nothing but trouble that is only because there are ignorant people out there like the majority of those who have written comments on here who go out of their way to cause segregation and hatred against those who are in any way different from them.

Number 27 and 38 are talking sense. Any of you saying it's a breeding ground for terrorists really shouldn't be allowed to be sharing views in a public place. It's insighting hatred. Nothing wrong with building a mosque in Stalybridge. Planning permission was approved for exactly that reason!

There has to be something to spend all the lottery charity money on. I support this it's about time the stalybridge house market was pulled down in line with glodwick, west end of Ashton and Hyde. Plus there is a big market for curry houses and rival taxi firms in the bridge. The old rififi would also make a great mosque.

Everybody is completely missing the point of this !!
This is going to be a school / a mosque a relaxation centre ....
If you know the area and the road then you will know how stupid it is to put a mosque / church / cinema / gym any thing that brings so much traffic
It's just stupid !
There's 2 schools 2 salons tescos resteraunts pubs
God knows how many houses !
Nothing to do with race I'm a Christian and would object a church if it was open 7am-11pm everyday.
It's just stupid yet again Tameside council

Um it's not a mosque though? It's a centre. There's not enough space there to build a mosque anyway, everyone is getting their knickers in a twist about a mosque and saying they're segregating themselves but it's nonsense. It clearly says multi faith. You're being racist by accusing them of something your making up!

We don't need an influx of Muslims in the stalybridge area, just look at ashton west end, glodwick, cheetham hill, halifax, Bradford, Dewsbury. The areas with a high muslim population become slums.
