Alternative access to mount Carmel height /bracken hill

To all residents affected by today’s incident,

I am urging you to join me in signing this petition to advocate for the immediate development of an alternative access road to Mount Carmel Heights. Once again, we have been left isolated due to a single point of entry and exit to our homes — a situation that is not only inconvenient but deeply unsafe in times of emergency.

When these homes were built and sold, we were given the assurance that another road would be constructed to accommodate the volume of traffic and to ensure access during unforeseen events. Yet here we are, years later, still waiting — and still suffering the consequences of this unfulfilled promise.

Like many of you, my family was directly affected today. My two young children, one of whom has a severe learning disability, were displaced from our home for over 12 hours. We were left without essential items — no medication, no specialist foods, and not even basic necessities like nappies. At 11pm, instead of being safe and settled, my children are distressed and disoriented from a day of unnecessary upheaval.

This is not just about inconvenience — this is about safety, dignity, and the well-being of our families. Situations like today have a lasting impact, particularly on vulnerable individuals, and we cannot continue to be left in this position.

Let’s come together as a community and demand the infrastructure we were promised — not only for our peace of mind, but to ensure the safety and security of every resident of Mount Carmel Heights.

Please sign and share this petition so that our voices are heard, and meaningful action is finally taken.

Thank you,
