Victoria - Asset of Community Value

The Victoria has served the local residents of western Oldfield Park for over 120 years, providing the focal point, meeting place and social space where neighbourhood relations were formed and renewed. Until its recent closure the Vic also provided a range of in-house activities including pool, snooker, darts and skittles – each well-supported by teams organised into leagues. It also hosted a wide range of outside clubs and organisations. Until it changed hands in 2016 the Vic had been viable as

Locals against Aldi on Mon Bank

At the end of June residents of Mon Bank were greeted with diggers and workers from Aldi assessing the grounds at the front of our estate (looking towards Belle Vue Park). Upon contacting Aldi we've been told that a public consultation will be taking place, however we would like to prevent this proposed supermarket from progressing any further NOW! To date local residents have not been officially informed of any plans, there is a tiny piece of paper which Aldi put on a post near the area confirm

STOP DANGEROUS DRIVING IN MOSSLEY

We, the community, want to stop dangerous driving and speeding in Mossley. We seek an urgent and immediate dialogue with local elected representatives, Tameside Council and Greater Manchester Police. Resignation of Councillor Karen Tippins

Further to yet another disgraceful outburst from Cllr Tippins during an official Shaftesbury Town Council online meeting on Tuesday April 14th, in which she verbally abused Cllr Welch, repeatedly calling him 'thick' and an 'idiot',  we are calling for the immediate resignation of Cllr Tippins.  This latest outburst is one in a long litany of abusive, bullying, obstructive behaviour, damaging to the good name of our town and the mental wellbeing of Council staff.  No one should go to work knowing

Cancel Summer Exams 2021! In the name of mental health.

We at the crisis cafe a mental health organisation and movement lead by young people for young people are calling on the Education minister Peter Weir to follow the actions of Wales and to cancel GCSE and A level exams for 2021. As we are in the middle of a global pandemic many students and teachers have missed days due to periods of self- isolation and  already we've  had a 2 week circuit breaker. We believe it would be unfair to ask students to sit these exams in the summer, we believe this wo
