I agree with those who say, this is not about needed homes, but developers making huge bucks. Ribble Valley estate agents have 1621 properties for sale right now and there are 73 to sell in Longridge, this is about bringing all and sundry from Preston, Blackburn and beyond to live in our beautiful valley on land that should be producing food that we will desperately need in a few years.

Too much building will absolutely ruin our village - I am absolutely against it.  Our roads, pavements, doctors surgeries, schools, dentists, parking, etc. will all be adversely affected.

NO, NO, NOMORE UNWANTED PLANNING APPLICATIONS PLEASE !!!!!

one issue that should be reviewed is the problem that development will take place in Longridge but the land whilst on the edge of longridge is actually in Preston's area of control and therefore not RVBC or longridge town councils responsibility

We need to protect the area from over development. As apart from the destruction of a great part of the Ribble Valley the infrastructure cannot support the increase in people.

Lets find out who is getting the large backhanders in the Preston planning department to pass these plans. There is no other reason to build in Longridge when Preston has enough brown sites that could be used, except unadultriated greed by large corporations and planning departments.

The county should start using empty BROWN sights for building on first, and leave the GREEN sights to the farmers. We are loosing to much valuable farming land!!!

The Ridings land still has people working on it a haulage firm and then my husband manages a warehouse for a different company so this is not derelict land. So if they build on there people will be made unemployed. The developers won their appeal and guess what no swimming pool, no leisure centre and no elderly accomadition just more houses. Please correct me if l am wrong but over the last 20 -30 years developers have been trying to build on this land only to find after feasability studies that there was serious problems with the drainage. Now unless the gremlins have been working at night to surprise everyone and fixed the drainage what has changed?, it still floods. Is there a contest between Preston Council and Ribble Valley Council to see who can build the most houses. They have no respect for the people of Longridge, maybe these councillors need reminding who put then on the council and how easy it can change.

Longridge does not have the infrastructure to support large scale development

The development of green field and what was historically referred to as urban sprawl need to stop to ensure that the villages, town etc do not blend into one with no clear boundaries to protect the open spaces within the Ribble Valley

Longridge cannot sustain further housing. Doctors, schools (both junior and senior), the road system and sewer system are already struggling to cope with the current needs. Fight to keep Longridge green and let the builders go elsewhere - we don't want them!

Where are all the signatures of people who oppose this development in Longridge? Please, please get others you know to make their voices heard. Only 427 signatures so far, yet absolutely EVERYBODY i have spoken to objects!! I for one will make my vote in the next local elections count...it will go to the councilor who has the guts to stand up for what the residents want.

Unmet demand for housing by people working in the Longridge area has not been demonstrated. Indeed, in recent years significant employers have moved out of the area or gone out of business.

On the balance of probabilities demand for housing in Longridge comes from people intending to commute to Preston, Manchester, or Liverpool. There transport infrastructure to these centres is already inadequate, with no rail services, and bottlenecks at Grimsargh and Broughton. These problems have already been worsened by developments that have been allowed in Longridge, and should not be exacerbated further.

Due to the lack of proper definition of the term 'Sustainable' developers freely use the adjective when submitting proposals through planning. However, a common sense approach here should be taken - how can a development of Longridge for people intending to commute by car to other areas be aligned to any policy to reduce carbon emissions? The answer is clear - it cannot.

It is possible for covenants to be placed on property to ensure they are for local people and workers - however I have seen few examples of this being done In Longridge.

The developer's proposals, without exception, are thinly-veiled examples of financial opportunism undertaken without any interest of the community itself.

Enough is enough!

Schools are full, doctors have waiting lists days long and utilities are likely pushed to the max. Exactly how is bringing more people in going to address these issues? On top of that these new builds and stripping the town of its character and its heritage. Parks are barely kept functional for our kids and now they want to strip away the beautiful countryside from around us.

This needs to be stopped

If nothing is done to stop this over development it will not be too long before Longridge is completely engulfed by Prestons expanding borders.
Time and time again busineses are sold off and someone always sees 'the main chance' along with the prospect to make a quick buck on the backs of those made redundant.... IT IS WAY WAY TOO EASY buy it cheap and sell off to the developers. No risk, no loyalty, no guts.

Then there are the green field sites granted for development by a series of faceless, spineless planning comitees and local council officials. Green fields are green fields... farm them or let nature do as nature does. No excuse to build on these areas.
The Longridge birthrate is not on the increase, so why increase the size of the town? The Longridge employment area is not increasing so why increase the size of the town? Greed is not an acceptable reason.
