I attended the school as an overseas student

As an ex Head Boy and proud ex-student I believe that the Badge should stay!

Charles Gilbank (Saffron Walden, 2022-09-27)

#219

It should never have been changed in the first place

Paul Foster (York, 2022-09-28)

#220

Unnecessary change which upsets/damages association from the schools history and previous students.

Tracy Knowles (York, 2022-09-28)

#221

The new badge is an insult to the heritage of the school.

Janette Leigh (Pickering, 2022-09-28)

#222

I was proud to attend Lady Lumley's 1976-1981. The Coat of Arms and history of how and why the school was founded should never be forgotten.

Noel Scaling (Pickering, 2022-09-28)

As a past pupil of Lady Lumley's School I strongly disagree with the change of crest and think the original crest should be reinstated

Maggie SWIFT (Scarborough, 2022-09-28)

#231

I was a pupil at Lady Lumleys, we should be proud of our history, keep it and encourage pride in the school.

Angela Asquith (Sinnington, York, 2022-09-28)

#234

I cannot see any logical reason for wanting to change it, why tamper with history.

Melvyn Symonds (Pickering , 2022-09-28)

#237

As a former pupil I feel that we and the current pupils, staff, parents, etc. should have been consulted.

Janet Coe (PICKERING, 2022-09-28)

I'm signing this because I was educated at Lady Lumley's School and worked there for nearly 30 years. My children went to the school,y son taught there and my grandson is currently a pupil. We were all extremely proud of the school and Lady Lumley's legacy to the area. Changing Lady Lumley's coat of arms is disgraceful and dishonouring to her memory.

I have been corresponding with the CEO of The Trust for 18 months. I have written 8 letters to Mr Crosby and accepted an offer to meet with him but he changed his mind without notifying me and a meeting was never held. In his last correspondence, he dismissively ended all communication with me on this issue and informed the Headteacher of Lady Lumleys to also cease corresponding with me. This left me with no option other than to go public to get the badge reinstated by starting this petition.

They are being goofy

#271

I attended lady lumleys school many years ago and believe the logo should be kept

Michael Hodgson (Pickering, 2022-09-28)

#279

As an ex pupil I do not believe the old badge should be changed. Changing it shows a total lack of consideration or respect to the founders of Lady Lumleys or its rich history.

Gary Fowell (Pickering, 2022-09-28)

#283

The badge was part of the pride of the pupils and the dedication of the staff. It was an integral and important sign that you went to Lady Lumleys School and appreciated what Lady Lumley did by funding the school originally. The badge is now a laughing stock without any pride.

Valerie Todd (Pickering, 2022-09-28)

#285

As a past pupil, I believe too many things are being modernised and we forget about what historically the shield symbolised. I was always proud to represent Lady Lumley’s under this coat of arms

Jill Houghton (Flint , 2022-09-29)

#287

The badge is part of the history of lady lumley who the school is named after, why does it need to be changed? Keep the original

Jennifer Downing (Pickering, 2022-09-29)

#290

I was at Lady Lumleys' in the 70's.
and this is change for changes sake!

It is vital that a school takes account of the values and feelings of the community whose children it serves. Worryingly, this does not seem to be the case. I trust that the governors of Lady Lumley’s will require the school’s management team to put right this mistake that it has made.

Steve Peet (Kirkbymoorside , 2022-09-29)

#296

Its a massive waste of money an the old one is perfectly fine

Sally Ellis (Thornton-le-dale, 2022-09-29)

#308

So pointless and insulting to the memory of the school - parent of former students and former employee

Ann Sainsbury (Ebberston, 2022-09-29)

#311

I feel that the replacement school crest is inappropriate, and does not reflect the esteem with which Lady Lumley’s School has been held in the local community for many years.

Margaret Smith (Thornton le Dale , 2022-09-29)

#318

As a former pupil I respect the legacy left by lady lumley and I feel it should be kept as an identity for the school and her memory

Carole Jennings (Pickering, 2022-09-29)

#320

I used to go to Lady Lumleys School and believe the badge should remain as it was.

Lian Potter (Liverpool, 2022-09-29)

#324

Academy chains ruin schools and don't care about the history of schools.

Laura Haynes (Scarborough , 2022-09-29)

#327

I am signing because it is an outrage how this could be changed without asking staff students or parents for there opinion. As a parent of a child at lady Lumley's I feel we are no long involved in anything to do with our children education anymore it's disgusting what happens behind closed doors

Laura Mills (Pickering, 2022-09-30)

#330

My husband and all his family attended LLS as did my children. It’s Historic

Lisa Aconley (Thornton Le Dale, 2022-09-30)

#333

I've been involved with Lady Lumley's School, both as a parent and a member of staff. Lady Lumley and the original crest have strong historic links to the area and the school going back centuries. They mean a great deal to the local community. The original crest is much more appropriate, and frankly much better! Please reinstate it!

Lisa Whitmore (PICKERING, 2022-09-30)

#341

The founder and benefactor of this school has the right to have her correct and original coast of arms!

Simon Newton (York, 2022-09-30)

#347

Three generations of my family are proud to have been educated at Lady Lumley's School. We are saddened that the school has been acquired by people who appear to have no affinity with its history. We were proud to wear the Lumley coat of arms on our uniforms and sports kit. It is a symbol that links generations of Lumleyites to each other and the area.

Lloyd Webster (LOW MARISHES, MALTON, 2022-09-30)

#349

I am a former pupil 1966-1972. Tradition should be respected. Whilst modernisation can be a good thing it is not in this case.

Yvonne Carr (Durham, 2022-09-30)

#352

My husband and family attend this school and now my daughter attends.

Natalie Davison (North Yorkshire , 2022-09-30)

#357

Changing a logo should be low on the priority list when education budgets are extremely tight. Why not put this money to direct additional support for the children?

Camilla Brackstone (Essex, 2022-09-30)

#363

To whom it may concern, I don't believe the update is necessary or even very well executed. Seems like any changes should be brought forward with a proposal and executed by a qualified design team, after the necessary amount of research, insight and due diligence. There is a very good reason why heritage, culture and authenticity resonate in such challenging and changing times. sincerely, Simon. (Former Lady Lumley's Student)

Simon Nicholls (Los Angeles, 2022-10-01)

I went to Lady Lumleys 1958 to 1963. This new badge is an abomination, the traditions should be maintained.

Eileen Gibson (Leeds, 2022-10-01)

Pupil 1960-1967

Sarah Ann Jemison (Bradford, 2022-10-02)

#375

It's wonderful as it is!

Cheryl Taylor (Pickering , 2022-10-02)

#378

Lady Lumley was the founder and benefactor of this school and the coat of arms should remain as it was to maintain the schools identity and to honour her. All finances should be used as Lady Lumley intended to teach and support the children of the community not be frittered away on unnecessary things like “new logos” that don’t add educational value.

Sandra Dowkes (Pickering, 2022-10-03)

#379

Why change it for the sake of changing it? Generations of students have worn this badge with pride. It should remain in place for future generations.

Brian Tate (Pickering , 2022-10-03)

#383

The new design is awful. Why mess with the traditional design of the coat of arms? It's far better and part of Lady Lumley's heritage.

Anna Dolman (Scarborough , 2022-10-03)

#388

My mother in law, uncle, grandmother all attending this school and proudly wore the lady Lumley coat of arms as students. This historic school badge should be reinstated in memory of lady Lumley if it was not for her generosity we would not have this prestigious school.

Stacey Rueter (Middleton, pickering, 2022-10-05)

#392

I don't believe that the badge should be changed and the school should have consulted locals before doing so.

Joanne Warriner (Pickering , 2022-10-06)
