VERY URGENT PLEASE READ AND TAKE ACTION !!!!!

THE CAMPAIGN TO RESTORE LADY LUMLEY'S COAT OF ARMS TO THE SCHOOL BADGE IS AT A CRUCIAL STAGE.  Decisions are going to be made soon (we don't know when) about whether the badge is going to be restored.  Unfortunately, some influential people associated with the Trust and the school are still maintaining that we (Mac and Linda Brackstone) are the only people who have complained to them about the new badge.  Mr Crosby, the CEO of the Trust, wrote that 'Having checked with Headteacher and Chair of Governors no other complaints have come into the school.  I am therefore closing this correspondence.'  However, we have written and verbal evidence to the contrary but it would be difficult to prove this.

Consequently, WE ARE URGING AS MANY PEOPLE AS POSSIBLE TO WRITE EXPRESSING THEIR DISPLEASURE OVER THE CHANGING OF THE BADGE WITHOUT ANY CONSULTATION WITH THE LOCAL POPULATION.  The community's outrage over this issue would then be reinforced - supported by the signatures and comments on the petition.

PLEASE SPEND A FEW MINUTES OF YOUR TIME TO WRITE TO:

Ms Clair Foden, Headteacher, Lady Lumley's School, Swainsea Lane, Pickering, North Yorkshire.  YO18 8NG

Mr M. Dawson, Chair of Governors, Lady Lumley's School, Swainsea Lane, Pickering, North Yorkshire. YO18 8NG

OR E-MAIL:

chair@ll.coastandvale.academy

Incidentally, the financial cost of changing back to the original is not a big issue because the school uniform has not been changed as yet so the school would only have to change the badge on its website/admin and either stick the old badge over the new on the signage at the exit of the school or have a new sign installed.

AFTER 2 YEARS OF BATTLING, IT LOOKS AS THOUGH A FINAL DECISION IS GOING TO BE MADE IMMINENTLY, SO PLEASE DO NOT DELAY IN VOICING YOUR  SUPPORT FOR THE RESTORATION OF LADY LUMLEY'S COAT OF ARMS.  THANK YOU ALL ONCE AGAIN FOR YOUR SUPPORT.

End of petition

2023-04-26 09:44:50

On 15/09/2022, the CEO wrote, what he said, would be a final letter to us saying that "I will make all my correspondence and your correspondence available for the Trustees to examine".  This lead us to believe that the Trust Board were aware of the LLS badge issue and we therefore waited months to hear from them. Not hearing anything further, on 27/02/2023 we put in a Freedom of Information request to the Chair of the Trust Board asking for the Minutes of Meetings where Lady Lumley's School badge and correspondence from us was discussed.  To our astonishment and dismay, the Trust confirmed that the issue of the Lady Lumley crest had not been discussed at Trust Board level, confirming that this issue had not been brought to the attention of the Trustees and therefore they were unaware of the campaign we had mounted. Subsequently on 02/04/2023, we made an official complaint about the CEO's mishandling of the whole issue and there is an ongoing investigation into the matter.

We have decided to close the petition which was eventually supported by 1205 people.  Well done everyone!  It is heart-warming to see how important Lady Lumley was, and is, to our local community.  We submitted the details of the petition on 26/04/2023 to the Trustees of the Coast and Vale Learning Trust and have been assured that this matter will be discussed at Board level.  We hope to have more news this summer.

Update on LLS Campaign

2023-03-21 15:52:07

The campaign to restore the Lumley coat of arms to the LLS badge is still active.  The petition, which has been well-supported will be presented to the Coast and Vale Learning Trust in the near future.

The petition has been delayed because we wanted to prepare the ground for presenting it.  We have used the time to write several letters to the CEO and the Chair of the Trust Board.  We have submitted THREE separate letters of complaint with supporting evidence about the CEO's mishandling of the badge issue.  The CEO has decided to end his correspondence with us and has made excuses for doing so.  He has interpreted out justified criciticisms of his words and actions as being 'disrespectful'.

The CEO then put my complaint about him to the Chair of the Trust Board.  We have waited for months to receive a reply to any of our three letters of complaint.  This is clearly unacceptable and damaging to the Trust's reputation.  The Trust has proved itself to be unaccountable and a law unto itself. It clearly thinks that the view and feelings of the 1200 plus people of our community who signed the petition are of no importance to them.

Pickering Town Council Back LLS Badge Campaign

2022-09-28 16:28:21

With nearing 250 signatures, we are really heartened by the community's response to this campaign.

On Monday evening, I gave a short presentation to Pickering Town Council; they voted unanimously to support the reinstatement of the original school badge.  They proposed to write to the Headteacher of LLS and the CEO of the Trust to express their support and also committed to sharing the petition online across their social media platforms.  Word is spreading throughout the community and the campaign has been publicised in the Gazette and Herald.  For those who are unable to access the online petition, a paper petition will be available to sign in Television House.

Once again, thank you for your support - keep signing and sharing.  I have found your comments to be thoughtful and encouraging!
