This situation has got worse since the rail works. It should have got better. It really should not take a petition to get the authorities and Network Rail to resolve this!! Passing the buck is a disgrace and well done to year 11 for taking the bull by the horns and helping to get this situation noticed. Oriel students will not be ignored!

Don't like being cut off from the other side of Crawley; when are they opening the other 'tunnel'?

This flooding issue has been going on long before NR commenced their new works in the tunnel. I think that parents had foolishly assumed that with the new works would come a solution but it would appear that no proper thought or planning had been put into what I can only assume were costly works. And now it would seem that the problem has now worsened.
Yes we have rainfall, this ain't Spain sadly. It shouldn't matter how much we have, planning for the heaviest rainfall should have been done and adequate drainage/run-off should have been considered. An absolute awful state of affairs for all parents and children affected.

This is causing problems not just for those who use the tunnel but for all parents and children at the school.

Good news. Work should be starting this week to fix the drainage issue.

Its crazy the tunnel has been flooded sooooo long! My children cant walk or cycle to and from school this is resulting in lateness every morning as the traffic is so bad its taking an hour to do a round trip of 7 miles, this needs to be sorted once and for all!!!!

The solution could be as simple as putting in some 'stepping stones' to allow people to cross when the tunnel is flooded

Please get this sorted ASAP - the current situation is not at all acceptable.
Not only is it impacting on the raised traffic levels around Three Bridges & Maidenbower, but is is impacting on
Younger siblings who are the late for school as parents are desperately trying to get children to several schools!

Well said! Your story echoes mine & probably many, many other. Feeling proud of the people who are standing up & giving their voice to an unacceptable situation.

this has been going on for too long. I am not happy with the water going over my daughters boots and having to sit in her classes with wet feet all day. not a happy parent.

My husband & I walk every week to visit an ederley relative, we go from Maidenbower to Furnace Green, the only other route is too long to walk, so is instead an unwanted car journey.

Saw this situation coming way back, when Volker Fitzpatrick began the tunnel extention.
Great planning Volker, the responsible surveyors should now do something about their f**k-up

Enough is enough. My son is having to take the long walk round as I have to be at work by 8 and if I drive him to school I dont get to work in time as it takes such along time to just get out of Maidenbower!! To top it all off I have now recieved a letter from the school to say if they are late more than 30 times in the school year we are going to be fined £60!!!! Is Network Rail going to pay this for us all????????

My son travels across town for school each day, leaving home at 7.30 to catch the bus to furnace green, if the tunnel is flooded he has to leave home at 7.15 to get the bus to maiden bower.. It would be a huge help if the flooding issue was rectified.

it is about time something was done about this. Network Rail are at fault. Some residents are unable to keep in touch with friends and family as they do not have their own transport and cannot face the walk and journey into crawley town........disgraceful

I've been late everyday since I have to travel all the way round from Furnace Green to Maidembower through Three Bridges where it is rush hour at 8am and with added traffic from other students trying to get round.
