Re-Launch Petition 'IMPROVE GP ACCESS ACROSS PEMBROKESHIRE'

Comments

#4

Having recently moved to Pembroke I am concerned that it is so difficult to get to see or even speak to a doctor. To be told to ‘start phoning at 8.00am to try to get an appointment for that day and if not try every day until or if you succeed (or give up and risk serious illness) the surgery obviously needs far more resources especially GPs

Sue Leedale (Pembroke , 2022-07-19)

The phone system at argyle is shocking . I haven’t been able to get an appointment for weeks / people are suffering or self diagnosing - people are desperate and the hospitals are under more strain when a condioheys worse . Shocking

Janette Jones (Pembroke , 2022-07-19)

#11

Appointments are impossible to get even children

Helen Calvert (Pembroke , 2022-07-20)

#13

The service offered is not acceptable. Patients are not getting access to medical care. The conditions for the staff working at the practise are not acceptable they are not working efficiently due to the way they run the service.

Emily Grace (Pembrokeshire , 2022-07-20)

#15

I totally agree with the points made in this petition
The surgery has brilliant people but the general public find it so hard to access them

Robert Phillips (Pembroke Dock, 2022-07-20)

#19

we all need good access to doctors

kim richards (pembroke, 2022-07-20)

#21

Took 2 weeks to get through when you do get through all appointments have gone @ 08.16

Louise Bradford (Pembroke , 2022-07-20)

#22

Impossible to get through on the phone and when eventually do all the appointments have gone. Try again tomorrow.........

Cindy Breeze (Pembroke, 2022-07-20)

#23

Made to wait in quere of 35 only to be told no appointments

Lyn Davies (Wales, 2022-07-20)

#24

It’s sooo diffiyto get a GP appointment. Sometimes having to ring up to 63 times a morning. I worry that people without phones & the eldercare not able to ring again & again & again & again as is required at present. The system MUST be changed as it’s not fit for purpose

Jude Ryder (Pembroke , 2022-07-20)

#33

I am very concerned about the lack of doctors appointments available. I don't even bother to try now. And feel lots of other people do the same. But the ongoing situation will lead to seriously ill people ending up at a&e. Making that situation even worse.

Jayne Abbott (Pembroke, 2022-07-20)

#36

I'm signing this petition for and on behalf of the people of Pembroke and Pembroke Dock who has a fundamental Right to see a doctor, in good time and access to our surgery as and when they need it.......This is, and should not be treated as a lottery in terms of first come first served..... you have a duty of care to ensure everyone is treated in good time and in private.......there should be no need to explain the reasons to see a G.P to an untrained receptionist, he or she should be simply making the appointment the patient wants.

Phillip Abbott (Pembroke, 2022-07-20)

#37

12 time I try to get a appointment. but no luck

Keith mcniffe (Pembroke , 2022-07-20)

#38

I am concerned about the staffing levels at the practice, the difficulty in getting appointments, and patients being told they will be referred to specialist consultation then finding out the referral was never made. It is distressing when you are in constant pain and dangerous especially if early diagnosis could save your life

Gloria Stenson (Pembroke, 2022-07-20)

#41

The service that we receiving is not up to standard

Emma Nevatte (Pembroke Dock, 2022-07-20)

#46

Everyone should have a face to face appointment now. Can't even get a phone call appointment. Things definitely need to change.

Wendy Richards (Pembroke Dock , 2022-07-20)

#48

It is almost impossible to even get through to ask for an appointment let alone actually see a doctor face to face. Argyle st are still insisting on phone consultations. HOW CAN YOU DIAGNOSE OVER THE PHONE.

Sara Pow (Pembroke Dock, 2022-07-21)

#49

There needs to be a rapid improvement to the way people are treated when trying to get an appointment to see the Doctor. These people aren't time wasters, they are physically and mentally suffering, and their problems need to be heard by a Doctor.

Tricia Kidd (Pembroke Dock, 2022-07-21)

#54

Something needs to be done about the surgeries in the Pembrokeshire area , Johnston and neyland surgery to close totally in October putting more stress on argyle

Annette Turner (Pembroke Dock, 2022-07-21)

#56

An easy to access GP service is the keystone of a functioning local NHS.

Christopher Morgan (Pembroke Dock , 2022-07-21)

#64

As a community we need more GP’s

Paul Evans (Pembroke Dock, 2022-07-21)

#69

I need to see a doctor but just can't. I've given up. I've decided it's easier to die.

Jo Dobbs (Pembroke, 2022-07-22)

#74

I have not been able to access doctor for repeat prescription that I was given in hospital six months ago. It is impossible to see anyone, or even talk to a doctor, and the phone system is so dire it's extremely stressful to use, and I've just given up. Many are in my position. It's pretty terrifying.

Tesi Delaney (Pembroke Dock, 2022-07-22)

#75

Getting GP appointments is so difficult, many people are ignoring health issues which may be serious. I work in the morning and hanging on for 20-35 minutes waiting for someone to answer my call is impossible. Getting a face to face appointment is extremely difficult. People must be getting sicker, serious illnesses are being missed. The system is broken, we need more doctors.

Judith Lappin (Pembroke, 2022-07-22)

#76

Because all my family are registered there and especially my mum who is 80 and can spend hours trying to get through on the phone, I've turned up with her in tears through Frustration
It's utterlay in exceptable that this happens every single time, it is not a one of,

Kellie Lowther (Pembrokeshire, 2022-07-22)

#79

I lived in The Netherlands until I retired just before the pandemic. The health system there is also overstretched but still manages to function.

Tony Wilson (Cosheston , 2022-07-22)

#81

Ive given up trying to get an appointment at the surgery

Mike hodgson (Pembroke, 2022-07-22)

#82

Something needs to be done. I have children who need access to Gp practices .

Jaz James (Pembroke, 2022-07-22)

Tina Hendry (Wales, 2022-07-22)

Karen Austin (Pembroke, 2022-07-22)

#88

This surgery needs sorting out no one can get appointments all told go to pharmacy it’s shocking never any one in side waiting still all phone appointments

Teri Briskham Briskham (Pembroke Dock, 2022-07-22)

#90

We desperately need more gp's in the area. Getting an appointment is very difficult. When ever I ring for an appointment I'm in a queue for ages only to be told there are no appointment left.

Eirwen Trigg (Pembroke dock , 2022-07-22)

#93

Needs to improve you can't even see a doctor!

Tina Roberts (Pembroke dock , 2022-07-22)

#96

Argyle medical group is a waste of time. It is practically impossible to get an appointment. If i am contacting my gp, it's because im at the end of my tether and have done everything i can without draining the nhs. They are very quick to fob you off and push your problem to an alternative clinic, which results in weeks or months of wsiting to be seen, whilst my problem persists.

Julie Davies (Pembroke dock, 2022-07-22)

#97

Argyle medical have repeatedly failed to support me over the last 3 years concerning my debilitating condition.

Paul Davies (Pembroke dock , 2022-07-22)

#98

I have problems getting apps and I have just borrowed monies to pay for my son to have a hernia done as after at least 6 months was told he would have to wait another 18 months for the NHS !!

Theresa Fowler (Pembroke Dock, 2022-07-22)

#104

Every time I ring for a doctor's appointment they are fully booked by 8.02am

Liz Phillips (PEMBROKE, 2022-07-23)

#105

I have a chronic condition and find it very hard to be seen by a doctor which results in me having to go to a&e which is far to over stretched as it is

Kirby Jones (Pembroke , 2022-07-23)

#106

I am very concerned about the current situation at Argyle Medical Group. My partner and I are both old with underlying health issues, but are aware that everyone is affected by the chronic problems at AMG. We were recently told by AMG to phone Neyland Pharmacy for an appointment. If AMG cannot cope with the shear volume of patients it is up to Hywel Dda to ensure that patients can obtain advice / treatment / referrals down another route.

Pauline Jones (Pembroke , 2022-07-23)

#107

I absolutely agree. Access to GPs and GP services are atrocious, and quite frankly dangerous.

Leslie Bugby (Pembroke Dock, 2022-07-23)

#109

I can never get to see Dr for myself my family. My mum was given wrong medication . Not taken seriously. Ended up in hospital for 10 days.

Tracy Moseley (Pembrokedock, 2022-07-23)

#110

People are going to die if this continues

Sandra Howells (Pembroke Dock , 2022-07-23)

#111

We need to be seeing our GP face to face again now.

Margaret Evans (Pembroke Dock, 2022-07-23)

#114

The GP phoning system across South Pembrokeshire is discriminatory for patients like myself who are deaf and can not use a phone due to physical disabilities. I have to ask others to phone on my behalf and it can take several weeks to gain an appointment. This disproportionately endangers those with physical and hearing issues with lack of access to health care.

Elaine Wyatt (Pembrokeshire, 2022-07-23)

#117

Service is appalling

John Fenneberg (Pembroke Dock , 2022-07-23)

#119

some people are unable to access healthcare simply because they are unable to cope with all the phoning. no appointments you cannot always successfully discuss things over the phone, if you do manage to have a call back sometimes its not even on the same day, you cant speak to a GP over the phone while you are queueing at a checkout

glenda harries (Pembroke, 2022-07-23)

#121

It is a very unfair service at present and it needs to change, if you are in employment and leave the house in the morning for work, it us near impossible and unrealistic to access a drs appointment due to timing, if you have a young family that requires your attention first thing in the morning you are probably not able to enquire about an appointment due to timing, if you have a disability that maybe requires you to take/ access medication or support first thing in the morning you are probably unable to access an appointment due to that very very short ' window' of telephone call to receive an appointment as all are gone within minutes on the day! We can't dictate when we will require help for our health but the system should be much fairer to those of us who can not phone at 8am on the dot and hold on for up to half hour to hopefully gain a drs appointment....we all get Ill, we all need medical help at some point not just those who are able to telephone at 8am on the dot...duty of care applies to all of us equally by our local surgery. Appointment system would be a help for everyone..our health shouldn't have to suffer because we have commitments we have to adhere to.

Julie Rowlands (Pembrokeshire, 2022-07-23)

#122

It important that the public receives the service they pay for.

Sandra Shanklin (Pembrokeshire , 2022-07-23)

#124

We need much better access to doctors. Trying to get an appointment is farcical.

Helen Wright (Pembroke, 2022-07-24)

#125

I lived in Pembroke dock for 3 years. I had 2 young children(under 3) and a family member with chronic illness. It was almost impossible to get a GP appointment. I'd make 100s of calls over days to try to get an appointment.

Victoria McAndrew (Narberth, 2022-07-24)

#126

I can never get an appointment or a face to face appointment no matter what time I ring. I have 2 kids also find it difficult to get them seen toi. Its ridiculous. Think it should go bk to numbers and they shout you in

Vicky Carter (Pembroke , 2022-07-24)

#127

Everyone is waiting till 8 in the Morning to phone ..eventually when you do get through there are no appointments..this can be at 8.15 !!!!!
I do feel for some of the receptionist the ones who genuinely seem sorry ( no attitude)...
Lives are being put at risk because people feel I won't bother phoning as I won't get an app !!!!

Sharon Cook (Pembrokeshire , 2022-07-24)

#131

For working people it’s absolutely impossible to get to appointment let alone see a doctor

julie james (Pembroke, 2022-07-24)

#133

I live in Pembroke and the surgery is ridiculous to get into. Even for children.

Laura Jayne Davies (Pembroke, 2022-07-24)

#136

Argyle Medical Group is not providing even the most basic of care to the majority of their patients but is still getting paid for having them on their register. Desperate people are suffering in silence. This has to stop.

William Gannon (Pembroke Dock, 2022-07-24)

#144

I'm lucky to hardly ever having to use the doctors, but back In March I was diagnosed with a PE (clot on my lung) after being giving blood thinning medication from A&E and being told my GP would then take over my care! I telephoned the surgery as the medication I was taking wasn't suiting me firstly I had to fight with the receptionist to even get put on the Dr call back, then after waiting from 8 in the morning till 5.30 in the afternoon for a GP to ring me back to only be told she didn't know what to do and had to speak to the hematology team in WGH for advice, 3 days later after ringing and only being able to speak to a receptionist and my partner asking for the manager (which he didn't get to speak to) I had a phone call back to tell me I had to change my medication. my occupational health in work advised me to discuss whether I was able to return to work with my GP and take they advise thats a laugh as I was unable to speak to a GP only to the receptionist who left a message for the GP to sign a note for me.
I'm 4 months down the line and haven't seen a GP and still don't know why I had the blood clot.

#146

I'm fed up and frustrated at the current and unacceptable level of service from argyle medical group

Patricia Southern (Pembrokeshire , 2022-07-25)

#148

The system was failing pre COVID and now is much worse. We have no choice to use any other surgery and with more housing being built in the area there will be even more patients registered.

Jennifer Aston (Pembroke Dock , 2022-07-26)

#151

It’s a joke how it’s being run at present .

Dee Morris (Pembroke Dock, 2022-07-26)

#152

I am a Town Councillor in Pembroke Dock and like the many residents registered with the AM Group the access to GP appointments is appalling.
The Town Council has requested in past months for a responsible representative from AG to attend a council meeting to explain there intentions to address issues, but no response to date, but will continue to pursue.

George Manning (Pembroke dock, 2022-07-26)

#155

I have a longterm autoimmune disease, my daughter has health issues and I have a disabled son, it's impossible to get an appointment with this surgery. It's ridiculous!!!

Lisa Jenkins (Pembrokeshire, 2022-07-29)

#156

I'm signing because it is difficult most times to get an appointment to see a GP .

Michelle Urquhart (Pembrokeshire , 2022-07-30)

#157

I've tried countless times to get appointments with the. I start ringing at 8 by the time I get through there are no appointments left.

Sue Lee (Pembroke, 2022-07-30)

#163

I find it very frustrating to try and get a Doctors Appointment in the mornings.
I work and have children in School so to be hanging on the phone from 8am is not possible for me. The whole Appointment system needs addressing.

Jo James (Pembrokeshire , 2022-08-01)

#164

The service is not fit for the local community

Nicola Sandiford (Pembroke dock, 2022-08-01)

#165

We have spent hours and days trying to get through to the surgery by phone. My wife even ended up getting referred for an MRI scan by a practice nurse because of inability to see a doctor. Neither of us has managed to see a doctor in the last 18 months since moving to Pembroke.

Steve and Gaye Grainger (Pembroke, 2022-08-02)

#166

The appointment booking system at this practice is broken and as such, does not meet with the requirements of the community.
Patients are expected to hold on the phone for up to an hour only to be told all appointments have gone.
The practice should take advice and look at how other medical practices have overcome this issue. Many practices now use EMIS the online system as a an additional method of booking appointments so that patients can book relevant appointments ahead of time.
Phone consultations, face to face visits, nurse visits etc should be available to everyone in the community, it should not be a lottery for just the first few people to get through on the phone.
Change must happen.

Lesley Roberts (Pembrokeshire, 2022-08-02)

#168

I’m singing due to suffering a few water infections and on one call being told there are no more apps and to be left in pain, I also suffer with mental health and getting an app is just crazy

Christina Holcombe (Pembroke Dock , 2022-08-02)

#171

Very poor service , can’t even schedule a non emergency appointment here , not open on weekends or late evenings for people that actually work . SHOCKING!

David Griffiths (Pembroke Dock , 2022-08-02)

#172

I feel I could die of old age waiting for someone to answer the phone!

Kevin Sprack (Pembroke Dock, 2022-08-02)

#177

I'm sick and tired of phoning day after day hundreds of times to try to get and appointment!! It's been like this for years now with no sign of it getting any better!

Sarah Kettle (Pembroke Dock, 2022-08-02)

#178

It is frustrating and sometimes impossible to get an appointment. Also receptionists do not seem to listen to what your needs are and can be rushed and hostile.

Ally Hatton (Pembroke Dock , 2022-08-02)

#182

I am extremely worried about not being able to see a GP, particularly as my husband has serious health problems. Wonderful support from Withybush following an emergency admission but GP follow up was worryingly non existent.

Sian Crinion Jones (Pembroke , 2022-08-02)

#183

There isn't ANY reliable or accessable GPs if you are with Argile practice. This system leaves many including myself and my husband no option but to turn to 111, or attend A&E if we need any kind of medical advise diagnosis or treatment... It is IMPOSSIBLE to see or talk to GP.

Alison Washington (Pembroke , 2022-08-02)

#187

Of not being able to get appointments when you ring dead on eight with two phones making 47 calls I. Did get on one occasion through at 0.8.05 into queue 35 at 0.8.20 someone answered guess what No appointments today what a joke this surgery is Staff need better training how to treat people before long someone will die

Kenny Nicholas (Pembroke Dock , 2022-08-02)

#188

Ridiculous system, reception staff are good and understand the issues but are helpless, this has to change. Who decides the system, AMG or NHS?

Paul Bulpit (Pembroke Dock, 2022-08-02)

#190

The only reason for the phone system at Argyle is that they can say they offer same day appointments, it’s political.
The fact that it’s takes up to 5 days of 40 minutes on hold is ignored, this is an appalling way to run a doctor’s surgery and is typical of Hywell DDa who oversee or should over see this to allow it to happen and for so long.

Darrell Griffiths (Pembroke, 2022-08-02)

#194

I am 63 and during this time I have lived in a number of different areas of the country and also abroad. As such I have been registered at several different practices over that time. I can honestly say that this is the worst medical practice that I have ever been registered with by a country mile. To top it off the attitude of some of the administrative staff is truly abysmal. I suspect they are beyond redemption and what is needed is for the Hywel Dda University Health Board to close this practice down and appoint a new one which puts the needs of the patients above their own comfortable way of working. As far as I can see, the practice is run for the benefit of the management and administrative staff and the patients are a necessary evil to be tolerated at best. The nurses actually do a stirling job. I can't comment on the doctor's as since COVID they have gone into hiding.

David Coombes (Cosheston, 2022-08-02)

#196

It's impossible to get an appointment and the phone system they use is absolutely hopeless and costs a fortune as well

Fiona Morton (Pembroke dock , 2022-08-02)

I am a resident of Pembroke Dock and registered to Argyle Street Surgery. I agree with everything in this petition.
