  1. Argyle Medical Group were placed in Remedial Measures byHDUHB late summer. Shouldn’t we who fund them know why ?

The Argyle Group have launched a survey on their Web Page. I have shared it on Pembrokeshire Council Watch and other local Facebook Groups. The survey HAS NO SPECIFIC QUESTIONS ABOUT THE TELEPHONE APPOINTMENT SYSTEM. There is a general commentary box where I would urge you to put your comments. If you don't the survey results will be a misrepresentation of the genuine concerns we have.

Widening the Petition

2022-09-23 08:59:11

Since launching the Petition GP Services across Pembrokeshire are collapsing. To respond to this serious situation I have relaunched the petition to reflect this. Any improvement will benefit us all. The more signatories the better

Next Move

A small group of us have united to take this forward. We have created two Facebook Groups. 'Improving Access to GP Services in Pembs' and ' GPs Behind Closed Doors'

It's early days but please follow and like the FB pages for developments. Share your problems getting an appointment. We are a campaign group to improve access to GP services across Pembs. It is not a group for criticising the Doctors or their staff. We are planning a media campaign and to petition all of our Elected Representatives, regardless of their political affiliations to champion our cause

FOI

2022-09-07 10:20:12

It appears I can only post one anouncement a day. Lots more to share with you,

FOI Request minutes weekly meeting between HDUHB & AMG Carl Shutt
By email:
Dear Carl
Information requested under the Freedom of Information Act 2000
Thank you for your request for information under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 (FoIA) which we received on 9 August 2022. I can confirm that Hywel Dda University Health Board (UHB) does hold information falling within the terms of your request.
The FoIA obliges us to respond to requests promptly, and in any case no later than 20 working days after receiving your request. However, when a qualified exemption applies to the information and the public interest test is engaged, the FoIA allows time for the responses to be longer than 20 working days, and a full response must be provided within such time as is reasonable in all the circumstances. We do try to make all decisions within 20 working days, including cases where we need to consider where the public interest lies in response of a request for exempt information. In this case, however, we have not yet reached a decision on where the balance of the public interest lies.
In your case we estimate that it will take an additional 20 working days to take a decision on where the balance of the public interest lies. Therefore, we will let you have a response by 5 October 2022.
The specific exemption which applies in relation to question 5 of your request is Section 43.
Please contact me if you have any queries about this letter.

What's Next

I think in terms of writing letters and getting patronising replies we need to change tack. Two people have kindly come forward to ask how they can help. I think if two more came forward we could form a planning group, any takers. I have a few ideas and I am open to suggestions.

We need a media campaign and widen our area, certainly taking in Tenby, possibly Pembrokeshire, Hywel Dda or Wales ?

I am thinking of a Facebook Group 'GP's behind Closed Doors' as a rallying point if anyone can help and act as Admin that would be fantastic. You cam comment here

Group Action Needed

2022-09-03 15:17:48

Now is the time for all of you who are concerned about the difficulties in getting a GP appointment with the Argyle Medical Group to start sending emails or completing the EASS complaint form.

For those of you who consider themselves able and not belonging to a group with ‘Protected Characteristics you need to email the following. Hywel Dda University Health Board who commission the GP services

The Chair Maria.Battle2@wales.nhs.uk

& CEO steve.moore2@wales.nhs.uk

Your complaint to them is that as the Commissioners with responsibility for the surgeries in Pembroke and Pembroke Dock they aren’t ensuring that the ‘Access Standards Wales’ are being met.

The standards failing are below. Use your own wording for greater effect. Include your name and address.

ACCESS STANDARDS WALES

• People receive a prompt response to their contact with a GP practice via telephone.

• Practices have the appropriate telephony systems in place to support the needs of people avoiding the need to call back multiple times and will check that they are handling calls in this way.

• People are able to access information on how to get help and advice.

• People receive the right care at the right time in a joined up way which is based on their needs.

• People can use a range of options to contact their GP practice.

You can also email or CC your MP Simon Hart simon.hart.mp@parliament.uk

Both of your MS’s Samuel Kurtz

Samul.Kurtz@senedd.wales

Eluned Morgan Eluned.Morgan@senedd.wales

Eluned Morgan is also the Minister for Health in the Welsh Government

If you fall into a group with ‘Protected Characteristics’ such as Group 1) Carers Parents/Guardians with Parental Responsibility single parents. (this burden predominantly falls on Females, (Protected Characteristic) They have to, be ready to head for the surgery at short notice with 2,3,4 Children, or the person/s they care for in tow.

Group 2) People with Physical Disabilities (Protected Characteristics) The system fails or is difficult for people who may be deaf, visibly impaired or have physical disabilities and unable to use a phone. One patient tells how she has to get her carer to call on her behalf. Resultant in their Personal Needs not being meet because of time restraints on domiciliary care. Doubly frustrating when they are unable to get through.

Group3) Elderly People (Protected Characteristic) May not be up to speed with technology, may be confused or in various stages of functioning dementia. May be unable to fully articulate their problems via a telephone.

Group 4) People with Substantial Mental Health Issues (Protected Characteristics) Similarly disadvantaged/discriminated against as 4) above.

Group 5) People with Learning Disabilities (Protected Characteristics) Similar to numbers 4) & (5 above.

If you believe that you are being Discriminated against, then complete the EASS the Online Form or use one of the other contact methods.
