It is causing a lot of problems for me because of my problems getting to shops. I used to work on the site years ago when it was Hattersleys factory and it was a nice road to be on.

The closure is an inconvenience on a daily basis and unnecessary

Gary Ward (Ormskirk, 2021-11-30)

#209

I am impacted by closure

Victoria Evans (Ormskirk , 2021-12-01)

This closure has been a totally pointless exercise given the lack of cyclists in this area. A simple demographic check would have indicated this was likely. it's simply pushed vehicle traffic onto far more dangerous junctions and a toucan crossing isn't going to help. Does no-one in the Planning Dept. get out of their chairs and actually do site inspections at peak times?

Denyse /insley (Ormskirk, 2021-12-02)

#212

I am signing because the closure affects my property
Increased traffic
Polution

Blocking Yew Tree Road is environmentally bad. It adds almost half a mile of driving to vehicles trying to get to Croftson Avenue from the A59; for vehicles leaving Croftson, apart from the extra driving there is more pollution from the extra queuing to leave Buscough Road or Southport Road However, my major concern is the hazard that has been created for vehicles trying to get to Burscough/Preston/M6 at the junction of Burcough Road and County Road

Jim Rawsthorn (Ormskirk, 2021-12-03)

Because i totally and unaquiviclt agree with all the points raised by my fellow neighbours.

Maximus Wohler (Ormskirk , 2021-12-06)

I am signing because of the increased traffic using Scarisbrick Street which has cars parked on both sides of the road from one end to the other has resulted in it being a single lane. Cars speed down Scarisbrick Street and it is very dangerous. The pressure needs to be relieved by re-opening Yew Tree Road. Scarisbrick Street cannot cope with traffic from Yew Tree Road. Accident waiting to happen.

The consequences of this closure reaches far and wide. Have a walk out and see for yourselves

The mind baffles at this decision

I have seen the effect this closure has had on surrounding roads. Also in case of emergency, ambulances, police and fire brigade are unable to get through.

Margaret Nash (Ormskirk, 2021-12-06)

#224

Yew tree Road closure makes no sense at all. Surrounding roads such as Scarisbrick Street and Hants Lane can’t take the pressure of the volume of cars and trucks that use them as the only other alternative.

Adrian Davison (Ormskirk, 2021-12-06)

#228

I think Yew Tree road needs to be reopened with traffic calming methods as it is causing a lot of problems for people. County Road is 30mph but this isn’t being enforced enough

Christine Martland (Ormskirk , 2021-12-06)

The closure of Yew Tree Road has made the junction of Burscough Road and County Road extremely busy. The towns Road network is not adequate enough as it is and closing roads just moves the problem to Scarisbrick Street and surrounding areas. There sre very few cars parked on Ye Tree as they all have driveways unlike Scarsibrick Street. The closure has also not achieved its brief which was to make the route popular with cyclists.

Ben Kirkman (Ormskirk, 2021-12-06)

#232

By closing access, it's now created a gridlock at burscough Road junction to county road, etc.

Irene Fitzsimmons (Ormskirk, 2021-12-06)

#234

This road closure has simply caused severe issues on other roads, namely Scarisbrick St and Burscough St.
All it has done is cause traffic chaos in other areas.
This road should be re-opened with speed bumps in place to slow down traffic.
The reason given for closing the road was to make it safer for cyclists, I have never seen any cyclists actually use this road.
It has been a total waste of time and resources.

Belinda Matchett (Ormskirk, 2021-12-06)

#237

I’m signing this petition because of the damage the closure of this road is doing to all other roads that are directly effected. In addition the effect it has on response times of all emergency services.

John Kershaw (Ormskirk, 2021-12-06)

#239

I’m signing this because this road closure is causing traffic to divert to a narrower road (scarisbrick street) which has hazardous junctions (poor visibility) at both ends!!!
Traffic calming measures down Yew tree road is all that is required - not a road closure !!

Amanda Broadhead (Ormskirk, 2021-12-06)

#243

Poorly conceived idea. Traffic is backlogged on Burscough Street and Green Lane during rush hours. This road is rarely used by cyclists and does not justify being closed

Cathy Roberts (Ormskirk, 2021-12-06)

#250

This road closure has caused nothing but problems for me and my family.

Jim Tails (Ormskirk , 2021-12-06)

#251

Yew tree road needs to be and should be open to traffic, closing it only results in traffic being diverted onto other already busy roads. I can understand why the residents would like it to remain closed, but I along with most people would like my road also closed to through traffic. Indeed Tennyson Drive has a busy primary school, it would make more sense from a safety perspective to close this rather than Yew Tree.

Stanley Davies (Ormskirk , 2021-12-06)

#252

it is necessary to reopen this road as it's is causing dangerous build up of traffic in the narrower rds in the vacinity....why is Yew Tree so special??

Susan Proffitt (Ormskirk, 2021-12-06)

#255

I'm signing because there has been no data to explain the why. The description mentions a rat race, and provides no data to back it up. The recommendation has mad surrounding roads more dangerous. Ambulances can't get through. Why this one road, why? Nothing except one person opinion, which is 'its a rat race. Alltys Lane in that case needs closing, as does another 100 roads in Ormskirk. Absolutely pathetic waste of public money. Originally it was' covid' driven, then 'cyclists' driven, cyclists don't use it, they use the 2 main roads because yew tre isn't a beauty spot for cyclists.

Leigh Rathbone (Ormskirk, 2021-12-06)

#256

It is causing traffic build up on surrounding roads which is dangerous for no apparent benefit to Yew Tree Road

Helen Murdoch (Ormskirk, 2021-12-06)

#261

It’s unfair to the roads around the area that have the same issues! An has been made worse by yew tree being blocked.

Brendan Wright (Ormskirk, 2021-12-06)

#265

I am signing as it should not of been closed in the first place

Nigel Eves (Burscough, 2021-12-06)

#270

Ridiculous idea to close a road that then causes further problems / congestion to nearby roads

Michael Dawson (Burscough , 2021-12-06)

#271

I live on county Road and the closure has caused more congestion on an already busy road

Jill Gore (Ormskirk, 2021-12-06)

#275

Its ridiculous to close this Road and make the other surrounding roads busier. Especially as they are busier.

Sharon Clensy (Ormskirk , 2021-12-07)

#278

I have seen an increase in traffic on Burscough Street and Scarisbrick Street, both of which have dangerous junctions. The increase in Traffic on Burscough Street make crossing the road much more dangerous for the school children using the ‘pads’(the pathway to Greetby hill and the railway station). It is a rare sight to see cyclists using Yewtree Road.

Karen Hible (Ormskirk, 2021-12-07)

#287

The permanent closure of Yew Tree Road is simply shifting the problem to streets further up, including Hants Lane where I live. With Hants lane clinic providing covid vaccinations and the potential development of the former cottage hospital into 55 residential apartments, as well as the huge lorries that pull up outside Newlands Timber Yard, there is already a significant increase in traffic along this narrow lane.

Kate Mitchell (Ormskirk , 2021-12-07)

#288

So inconvenient for residents

Carol Ormrod (Ormskirk, 2021-12-07)

#295

I used to live in owen avenue and the atea is full of old people and children, far more residents than yew tree rd so its an accident waiting to happen

Karen Burgess (Ormskirk , 2021-12-07)

#297

I agree - the closure of the road has caused more traffic problems by moving the traffic elsewhere

Jacqueline Mcdermott (ORMSKIRK, 2021-12-07)

#298

It's dangerous for the community (emergency vehicles etc) and cyclists don't need it. It just causes a build up of traffic else where.

Val Cross (Ormskirk , 2021-12-08)

#300

This closure has just shifted the problem to other streets instead of dealing with it.

Jane Reaney (Ormskirk, 2021-12-08)

#302

It's very inconvenient when going straight across to go to Grimsargh Lane run.
Plus Scarisbrick street has become a dangerous busy rat

Diane Gibson (Ormskirk , 2021-12-08)

#304

I’m signing because it’s dangerous to keep a side road closed which can take some of the congestion off the main road.

Joanne Critchley (Ormskirk, 2021-12-08)

#306

Ease of access for local residents

James Sergeant (Liverpool, 2021-12-08)

#316

The volume of traffic on the junction of burscough road and county road is an accident waiting to happen.

Claire Jones (Ormskirk, 2021-12-09)

#320

There will be a serious accident at the junction of Burscough Road with tge amount of cars that use that junction. Burscough road also has residents living on itand that road has doubled with traffic since the closure

Irene Kelly (Lancashire, 2021-12-09)

#323

Because it is pointless as a cycle way - too short and goes no where

Dave Redwood (Ormskirk, 2021-12-11)

#325

As this road is closed it has has caused burscough road to be a very dangerous road for children and adults to cross in safety and as a cyclist I have this road has become a far more dangerous place for me to cycle

Michael Sheerin (Maghull, 2021-12-15)

#327

I live on a surrounding road that has since become much busier since the closure of Yew Tree Road and even getting in and out of my house at times is now difficult
