Re-Opening of Yew Tree Road

2022-04-22 15:12:26

Hello Everyone,

Just to let you know I am continuing to follow up our petition.  I have sent an email about a month ago to Lancashire County Council, firstly thanking them for re-opening the road. Also to ask for a breakdown of how the decision was made to re-open and how from the local newspaper it was said ours had been to late to be counted. My reasoning was that I had the signatures tracked and that it was there on time.

I still have had no reply of any description to my query nor did I receive an acknowlegement to my letter which was included along with the signatures.

I have today received a reply from Rosie Cooper to say she has sent my concerns forward and asked them to be considered. Ms Cooper has always tried to help throughout, so I am hoping that this time someone will actually get in touch with me.

I have also asked for some acknowlegement with regard calming measures and a proper traffic light system like County Road shops to be installed at Yew Tree Road, a much safer option in slowing traffic down on A59 than a Toucan crossing and would enable all road users to cross  and turn safely.

I do hope you are all happy with the re-opening,  I know I feel so much better and no longer feel cut off.

I will let you know if and when I have a reply, it seems to be a long slow process.

Kind regards

Brenda

Re-open Yew Tree Road

2022-02-19 18:30:50

Hello Everyone,

If  anyone has read the Ormskirk Advertiser, you will have seen that Nikki Hennessy has said that a total of 167 comments from residents, 38% against the re-opening and 62% in favour of re-opening was the result of the consultation. Adding a further comment that a petition against the permanent closure could not be considered since as it was received after the consultation closed.

I do not see how this is possible as I had tracked my delivery from Royal Mail Special Delivery Guaranteed 1pm on the 8th-12-2021. this was the final day of the cunsultation period. It actually arrived and was signed for by 8.15 am.

I had sent 325 electronic signatures plus 70 further paper signatures.  I will be asking Preston to give me a break down of the decision and query why our petition wasn't taken into account if that is the case. We would have had a bigger percentage against the closure. At least we have the same good outcome for the re-opening.

Take care,

I will be in touch and I will ask about calming measures as well as the traffic light system they are putting in place, as the rules with regard cyclists now being in the centre of the lane will give a safe way to cross plus pedestrians will be safe also. It would also slow the traffic on the A59, if people knew there were traffic lights ahead, that follow a definite sequence rather than MAYBE people will be crossing there as with a Toucan Set.

Good News !!!

2022-02-11 11:22:39

Good Morning Everyone.

Good news today, Yew Tree Road will Re-open in March. I can't thank you enough for all taking part in the petition and also writing individually to Preston. I don't know how they got their nos. as I sent approx. 350 + names in but the important thing is we can now feel happy that we have brought safety back to the residents of Scarisbrick Street and Burscough Road plus surrounding roads. Also we will not be adding to air pollution, from our extended driving routes. Most importantly we will be accessible to the emergency services. Other service providers will now have easier access to us all as well. It has made me feel so good that I can now actually feel more optimistic that we will be listened to by the Councillors in the future.

Thank you, thank you, thank you, may you all travel in safety and with peace of mind.

Kindest regards Brenda and all my helpers.

Good Morning Everyone,

I would like to say a BIG THANK YOU to all who participated in the above Petition. I hope you all had a peaceful Christmas and Best Wishes for a Happy New Year.

As yet I haven't had any notification as to what will happen about the Re-Opening but to let you know all signatures did get delivered by registered post to arrive  by 1pm on the 8th Decemmber. I have kept any further signatures that came  after me posting in case I can forward them if the need arises if the outcome is not what we wish for.

Kind regards,
