Petition Against prolonged water outages in Olifantshoek

This petition is by the community of Olifantshoek and for the community of Olifantshoek against the gross human rights infringements perpetuated by the Gamagara local Municipality insofar as it concerns water outages.

We Herewith demand that the Gamagara local Municipality, effective immediately, ensure the provision of clean accessable watter to all households in the town of Olifantshoek, Northern Cape.

We have been without running water for the better part of four consecutive weeks, without any explanation from Municipal and council leaders, as to why we cannot receive continued uninterrupted watersupply. As community members we purchase water allocations from the Gamagara Municipality and despite the fact that most household ensure that they have sufficient units of pre-paid water, we hardly ever have any water running from our taps.

This situation has become dire and escalated into a material health hazard as well as a gross human rights violation against the community of Olifantshoek.
