#312014-03-24 20:36I think the law is wrong if a child is born a live even if it is leas than 24 weeks it should have the same right to a birth and death cert its not fair that it is called a still born my great granchild was born at 23 weeks and lived for 20mins but was still called a still born |

#322014-03-24 21:28I lost my first at 20 weeks, nothing happened. Second one was 23+5 did got birth and dead certificate, baby lived for 4 hours. But because baby wasn't 24 weeks or more didn't got more help from hospitals to try to keep baby inside me, is not only the loss, but also the lack of help! |

#332014-03-24 21:30I lost my son at 40 week's pregnant and didn't get a birth certificate or death certificate. I believe we should. My son was a person! And all babies are little people! They deserve to be acknowledged. My son looked just like a newborn healthy alive baby. I pushed him out and he was perfect.other than the fact his heart wasn't beating. He was 6 1/2 lbs, 18.75 inches long and had a 31 centimeter head. For his life to not be acknowledged with a birth certificate is very hurtful. He was my perfect boy, just no more heart beat ='( |

#342014-03-24 21:33This petition is so important to people who have lost a child or children.. it means that they are recognised as 'people' the same as anyone else, not forgotten about and disregarded as 'just feotuses' or 'stillbirths'. Even 3 week gestation embryos have a heartbeat.. |

#372014-03-24 22:27I lost my baby at 20 weeks it would have been good to have a birth/death certificate he was very real. |

#382014-03-24 22:32Further to the acknowledgement on paper, dr.s should also acknowledge the loss and even if they can not medically save the baby .. the mothers should not be treated like just another number. the fact of the matter is that no matter how big or small the baby is each mother just lost their baby and should receive respectful care. |

#392014-03-24 22:50A Childs life needs acknowledgement from the moment of gestation and not before 28 Weeks!!!! It's awful that a Child/ren doesn't get the recognition that the Parents deserve. |

#42 I lost my first baby at 23 weeks2014-03-25 00:26I lost my first child at 23 weeks and never got over the guilt and up set of losing my baby boy as I never got to say good bye or even have a birth or death certificate so feel I let him down by never being able to lay my baby boy to rest in a grave or have a feeling of closer so now 20 Years on I still cry for my baby boy I was in such shock My baby had died I never felt I tried that'd enough to do what I wanted for my baby boy I was told to dry my tears I was a teenaged mum at that time and was told I should of never been pregnant in the first place and that I was young enough to have plenty more baby's when I grow up a bit my poor baby was never laid to rest as he ended up In medical waste yellow bag it will haunt my forever I am now 38 and have gone on to have more children but still cry for my baby boy who was never named or laid to rest but he was my baby Boy and lives on in my heart and remembered still in every tear |

#482014-03-26 08:07Such an import thing for a grieving mum. My little boy was born after 17+4 weeks gestation and whilst the hospital were amazing with me I've heard so many stories from mums who didn't get the same treatment. They might not legally be babies but they are our children and make us a mother. The hardest thing to contend with is people not recognising that fact and whilst we are grieving us having to defend that fact that they were and are our sons/daughters is impossible to cope with. |

#502014-03-26 20:05My son was born sleeping at 22 weeks & 5 days. Although I gave birth to him & held him, held him in my arms & stood by his coffin at his funeral he is classified as a miscarriage! He has a name, a box of memories with photos, a date of birth & a grave yet my little boy is not classed as ever existing. It's beyond wrong & it needs to change. Going through it is hard enough without being told your child isn't technically a baby! |
