This gym means a whole lot to me as it helps me train for large charity events that me and a group of my friends set up . We walked 450 miles for a children's hospice last year from Glasgow to London and langloan gym helped me personally achive this monumental task . This gym has gave me a drive to be a healthier person and if it closed I know a lot of people that it would affect in a negative way

The decline in facilities in both North and South Lanarkshire is an absolute disgrace. How can you preach to people about their health and the necessity to keep fit when at the same time facilities to assist in that aim are continually being closed down

I trained in this gym religiously when I was joining the Army, if it wasn't for this gym I doubt I would have got as far as I did. When I broke up with the misses, when I lost my house, then my job. That gym has been there for me through some of the hardest times of my life.

This gym is one of the last few gyms that haven't been taking over by liberalisation and commercialisation. The years of experience that train in this gym is second to none, I walked in an 18 year old who knew nothing and learned. I took a slagging, gave a slagging but you can't get better than these lads.

closing this gym is typical of the folk who know the cost of everything and the value of nothing.

I signed it because the public is losing out of a hall that is perfect for them to use

This community gym is the last of a dying breed. The family-like nature of the gym is unique to any other gym nowadays. It helps to keep a level of community spirit alive. Its membership includes a diverse range of individuals which train at it and this helps create and maintain healthy relationships within the community. Taking the gym away will leave the community of Langloan with nothing. The west end park doesn't get used to the maximum of its potential, the community centre has been closed down and now the gym. There will be zero incentives to keep our young ones off the streets. As a young adult the local gym provides me with an opportunity to keep fit, socialise with locals and also provides an alternative to socialising through alcohol.
I feel the people who make these decisions are out of touch with the wants and needs of the community.

there is now forms in the gym giving reasons why the gym is closing equipment is getting old and is costly to maintain however in all the years i trained here nothing ever was renewed and if it did it took forever there is a reason behind all this and i dont think its anything to do with costs

I ran in for St James Primary in the 4X100 relay when Sports Centre opened, trained there, watched It's a Knockout there. So many great childhood memories. Even though I no longer live in Coatbridge I don't want the town to lose an important community amenity.

more news left at gym courtesy of nl leisure the existing gym will be converted into a new multi functional space to encourage greater use from the wider community. doesnt make sense as most of the community use the weights room already and pay monthly debits also anyone with questions can speak to developement manager nichola mclachlan next wedenesday from twelve till three convenient as most users will be at work the gym has been earmarked for something thats for sure but we will not let it go without a fight

Well folks, all 10 of the Coatbridge Councillors have been contacted, as well as councillors further afield. Also been in touch with our MSP and MP and the CEO of NL Leisure. We have the backing of the business community as most shops in Bank St and those situated in the Blairgrove Shopping Centre have a poster in their window displaying support for our campaign and are encouraging people to sign the petition. Let's keep the ball rolling guys and keep up the pressure! This petition is our mandate so please keeping sharing far and wide!

A council cannot operate against the public's interest.

This is a well used facility, and given the focus on reducing obesity and promoting healthy living, closing this faculty would take away from local residents, a very good facility.

300 signatures already shows how much this small gym means to the guys and girls who use this facility

Great gym and a great bunch of guys. Be a huge loss the Coatbridge community if it shuts, no other gym about today like it. I pay to use the gym whenever I can as I can't afford to take out a direct debit. £2.60 at Langloan is good value but I'll struggle to afford £5/£6 every session at the time capsule. Also I sometimes train after work so still have my work clothes on. Time capsule won't allow this so now I'll need to spend more money on gym clothing as well as footwear.
