Cancel board exams 2021 India

As we all know following the tragedies caused by the pandemic in the previous year, India has taken a major slump economically. Even though there is a surge of covid in the country, the government hasn't taken any measure to cancel the board exams. It is very dissappointing that even in such circumstances a students marks and grades are valued more than their lives.

To make things clear, here are the problems, which we students have faced throughout the pandemic:

1. Half of the year was wasted in online classes, which turned out to be futile, as there was no proper teaching, and the concepts were never cleared.

2. As 2021 arrived, schools and colleges were opened for offline sessions, and in the beginning it was completely optional whether the student would want to attend the classes, a consent letter was required from the parents, but later on it became non existant, and students were forced to attend offline classes against their will.

3. The pressure being put on students and parents regarding the fees was horrendous, as it was straightforward blackmailing by the college faculty, in order to collect the fees. Students would even be mocked and barred from attending college due to the non payment of fees, which is very insensitive and unethical.

4. The amount of unnecessary assignments being given out by the teachers just added up on the stress.

5. Lots of students don't have a definite mode of transportation, and sometimes have to travel by foot to reach the college just to go back home an hour later, and the fact that many students travel by bus, makes them very much susceptible to contracting the virus, as buses in India are extremely overcrowded.

6. So called "Social Distancing" is non existant in the campus, as 3 to 4 students were forced to be seated in the same bench, due to the lack of benches in the class. The colleges assuring hygiene and safety didn't even have handwashes or soaps for the students to use, in case they didn't have sanitisers with them, which is ridiculously ironic.

7. Stupidly enough, CBSE (Central Board of Secondary Education) has decided to cancel the X std board exams and postpone the XII std board exams, but on the contrary, the state board has completely waved of the idea of cancellation of X and XII board exams completely, which is super unjust.

With thousands of experts and doctors pleading people to stay home and stay safe, the government still doesn't want to open it's blind eyes towards the idea of cancellation of the exams. With people struggling with the pandemic, opening any more doors for the virus to enter many students lives, is just folly and derogatory. The exam isn't just a day's job, it stretches over half a month with lakhs of students who will have to attend the exam all over India.

Instead, Students can be given an average rating or grade based on their 10th and/or 11th performance, if the student isn't satisfied with their marks, then they can appeal for an exam, which they will be writing on their own "Will", And there can be many alternatives to "Judge" a student, if the exams are cancelled and the student wants to pursue their education in a specific field, like separate entrance exams issued by the college itself to see whether the student is "capable" and "useful" enough to be in their "respected" institution.
