A Small Independent Coffee Shop for the Six Streets Area

It is being proposed that a small independent Coffee Shop is established on Kedleston Road, Derby in Spring 2017, to serve the local community of The Six Streets and immediate area. We are interested in your opinion on this proposal.   

Main underlining principals envisaged for the proposal:

  • Cafe will complement local amenities. (There are currently no such facilities within the immediate area.)
  • Cafe will host regular community events
  • Use local and seasonal produce where possible
  • Cafe will provide a clean, safe, warm environment for local community and tourist use
  • Somewhere safe and warm for elderly to socialise to wait for public transport
  • Facilities will be aimed and marketed to all ages
  • Cafe will be designed to be as family friendly as possible
  • There will be a community notice board within the cafe to advertise local events and current affairs
  • As soon as the business can fully support itself, employment opportunities will be created
  • Secure bike parking to encourage green travel
  • Encourage local cycle clubs / sports clubs to use the cafe
  • Packaging to be biodegradable where possible
  • Healthy different food options
  • Cater for vegan vegetarian customers
  • All products sold are fair-trade
  • When established the cafe will look to provide for organisations and groups.
  • Community will be asked to make regular suggestions of how the cafe can help the local community
  • Cafe will be arranged to encourage interaction between customers e.g. long breakfast bars and benches.
  • Access for prams and pushchairs
  • Local businesses that are not in conflict with the cafe will have the opportunity to advertise.
  • Business hours will be respectful to nearby residents.
