Resignation of Councillor Karen Tippins

Our job as Councillors is to work collectively for the good of the Town, and we undertake to uphold the Code of Conduct. A Councillor who cannot or will not meet these standards should do the honourable thing and resign.

Andrew Hollingshead (Shaftesbury, 2020-04-17)

#20

Having viewed the relevant extraordinary council meeting, I could see the impediment to business raised by the councillor's contribution.

David Westgarth (Ludwell, 2020-04-17)

#24

I'm the Idiot in Question :)

Matthew Welch (Shaftesbury, 2020-04-17)

#26

I believe that Councillor Tippens is an embarrassing representation of the ability of idiots to obtain positions above their intellect. Donald Trump looks intelligent by comparison, and that guy is a complete head-case.

paul killen (Shaftesbury , 2020-04-17)

#27

I am signing because the video of the council meeting showed how this person was using her position to denigrate others and council employees for reasons which only she could possibly explain.

NORMAN KING (Shaftesbury, 2020-04-17)

#30

She should GO

David Kerswell (Shaftesbury, 2020-04-17)

#32

I have heard nothing but bad since she has been appointed. This will help our community in more ways than if she left.

Claire Legg (Shaftesbury , 2020-04-17)

#39

Karen Tippins is a complete bully.

Carol Coffen (Shaftesbury, 2020-04-17)

#40

This is a disgrace from an elected official at this or any other time.

Tim Edwyn-Jones (Shaftesbury, 2020-04-17)

#45

I've been a Shaftesbury resident most of my life, went to school there, and eventually ended up policing North Dorset, in order to give something back to the community I love. Emergency workers should have the kit to not only do their job, but to also keep them safe.

Mike Henstridge (Shaftesbury , 2020-04-17)

#49

Totally shocked at what I have just watched as a person born in shaftesbury there is no room for people likecthis making decisions on our behalf

Heather Sanger (Shaftesbury , 2020-04-17)

#51

Disgusting behaviour from someone we put our trust into it, the lack of appreciation and respect for our front line keyworkers! And very unprofessional!!

Beth Hoskins (Shaftesbury , 2020-04-17)

#55

The town council has been absolutely terrible for the last few years. It has been run by people who only care about themselves. It’s time for change. It shows how pathetic it has been by Karen tippins only being able to insult because she cant her own way. Get her out!!

Lewis Disson (Shaftesbury, 2020-04-17)

#59

A disruptive bully with her own agenda.

Robin Johnston (Shaftesbury , 2020-04-17)

#67

I’m signing because she’s a nasty piece work !! That is no way to encourage younger members of staff, no room for this woman in Shaftesbury ... poison

Stephen Appleby (Shaftesbury, 2020-04-17)

#68

99.9% of Shaftesbury people are working together as a community to get us through this major epidemic. To have someone representing you and not understanding that is a disgrace and a resignation is the least this person should do. Stay safe but stay away from affairs that you obviously do not understand or have any empathy for.

Mike Edgell (Shaftesbury , 2020-04-17)

#69

I don't wish to be represented by such an unpleasant person.

Martin Lawson (Shaftesbury, 2020-04-17)

#71

I am signing this petition because I do not like people who bully others and she is not representing the population of Shaftesbury who believe we need to keep our Key workers protected.

Sally Edgell (Shaftesbury , 2020-04-17)

#73

In the current pandemic we need our council to gel together and help one another do the best for their local area. I feel this person, from reports, is acting in a violent manor by verbally abusing her colleagues which is not acceptable when they are trying to protect our key workers. I’m also struggling to understand how it is humane to not supply our key workers with the vital PPE they need and ignoring communication for two weeks in order to get these essentials.

Matthew Appleby (Shaftesbury , 2020-04-17)

#74

I’m signing because I strongly believe this is disgraceful, belittling and unacceptable behaviour towards another individual. It’s no way at all to encourage a younger up and coming councillor. People often wonder why younger people do not want to get involved in things. This nasty woman has reinforced the reason why. For some silly reason myself and a lot of other individuals made the massive mistake of voting Tippin in as a local representative. Seeing how she behaves makes my blood boil. Bully. GET HER GONE!!

Tom Appleby (Shaftesbury, 2020-04-17)

#77

This council's staff and councillors have been assaulted by continual bullying and harassment by Cllr Tippins together with her posting untruths about me on a public website.

Anthony Proctor (Shaftesbury, 2020-04-17)

#79

This is ridiculous, I’m truly shocked by the animosity of such a councillor.

Connor Watling (Gillingham, 2020-04-17)

#82

Tippins is a weight on the town council that it does need the way is one step forward not two steps back which she is doing

Bernard skam (SHAFTESBURY, 2020-04-17)

#93

Don't call people names!!!

Katie Bates (Shaftesbury , 2020-04-17)

#95

I support protecting our community from discrimination and bullying. People who put their time and passion into making our community a better place should not have to be subject to such behaviour.

Kat Bromley (Shaftesbury , 2020-04-17)

#99

Very unprofessional. Calling people names, it’s unkind and very childish. That person didn’t deserve that at all.

Paige Goldsack (Somerset, 2020-04-17)

#100

Disappointed that a senior member of the council could treat someone so poorly.

Charlie Rossiter (Yeovil, 2020-04-17)

#101

This person is not acting in the role she was elected to, namely representing her ward

terry griffiths (Dorchester, 2020-04-17)

#103

our towns chamber of commerce doesn't need pathetic people like tippins

richard Haskins-Legg (shaftesbury , 2020-04-17)

#104

Mrs Tippins' behaviour towards council staff and fellow councillors has been unacceptable. She is not unselfishly serving her community, as a councillor should, but by her behaviour is bringing the council into disrepute.

Jackie Upton King (Shaftesbury, 2020-04-17)

#105

I'm signing because the Town Council needs Councillors who are committed to supporting the Town, like Julian Prichard, who felt he had to resign following a grotesque campaign by Cllr Tippins.

John Lewer (Shaftesbury, 2020-04-17)

#110

I am signing this petition because i do not think people should be working in this position and treat others so badly. I am writing in support of my dear brother Julian prichard who never said just how bad cllr tippens was.. I know how hard jules has worked for the wonderful Shaftesbury hospital and his complete dedication for it over the last few years. Cllr tippens is a disgrace for the Shaftesbury community and should not be allowed to continue.

Diana Wilson (Winchester, 2020-04-17)

#112

I have known Mr Welch since he was a baby and can assure Mrs K Tippins that like Mr Welch’s siblings he is not as she has allegedly described, and I as a very long term family friend take umbrage at this supposed defamations of Mr Welch. I fully support the removal of said Mrs K Tippins with immediate effect, if at all possible
Many thanks
J V

Jillian Veal (Shaftesbury , 2020-04-17)

#115

The loss of Julian Pritchard who only has the interests of the community at the heart in everything he does is such a tragedy. I am disgusted at this Councillor who undermines a genuine idea to help the local NHS in this time of crisis.

Sue Killen (Shaftesbury , 2020-04-17)

#116

Having watched the video record of the meeting I am horrified that an individual ego trip has delayed a sensible community focussed solution tailored to unprecedented circumstances. I am equally sad that it resulted in the resignation of a community fo cussed councillor.

Rowena Hughes (Dorset, 2020-04-18)

#117

As someone who is bullied on a daily basis for having autism it’s horrible thing to go threw, cllr tipping is a fully grown adult that is throwing playground insults into a group of volunteers that are devoted to there town, I was raised in gillingham and I will never return becuase I love Shaftesbury and I respect the cllrs who care about the people here and they care that much they want to protect the keyworkers and so they should be protected without them cllr tipping won’t have food. So. Her actions need dealing with. Put her back in the playground where she belongs

Well done to all the other cllrs (not cllr Leo or tippins coz they suck)

Shana Trim (Shaftesbury , 2020-04-18)

#118

Bullying in any form is totally wrong . Anyone in public office has a duty to respect their fellow officers and not abuse them in a public forum. We need a united council, not one divided by this alleged abusive behaviour.

Tim Beal (Shaftesbury, 2020-04-18)

#119

I'm signing because this woman continually undermines after all the commitment and hard work undertaken by other councilors to rid the council of its past reputation. Her language and lack of professionalism makes me want to weep.

Natalie Evans (Shaftesbury, 2020-04-18)

#121

Cllr Tippens behaviour goes beyond belief. The great work that has been achieved to re-unite the town and the council over the last few years is a credit to those involved and the attitude and disrespect that this individual shows cannot be allowed to undo this work.

Nick Crane (Shaftesbury, 2020-04-18)

#123

I cannot understand how anybody would seek to deny protective equipment to those in our community who are helping people who are ill or vulnerable. Bullying tactics by councillors must not be seen to succeed. It is not acceptable to call people "idiots" or "thick". Councillor Tippins should resign.

Elizabeth Lewer (Shaftesbury, 2020-04-18)

#124

This kind of bullying is becoming the 'norm' among politicians from the top down and must be stopped at all levels of politics

Ray Horsburgh (Shaftesbury, 2020-04-18)

#125

I find any kind of bullying adhorrent.
Councellos are elected to represent not express their own views in such an offensive way.

Clare Huxley (Shaftesbury, 2020-04-18)

#126

Appalling behaviour. Nobody should be treated that way

Adrian Welch (Shaftesbury, 2020-04-18)

#127

The town council should be working hard for our community, not being undermined by individuals with their own agenda

Chris Gorman l (Shaftesbury , 2020-04-18)

#128

Verbal abuse towards anyone is not acceptable especially not in when you represent the town council

Ashley Fielding (Shaftesbury , 2020-04-18)

#132

This kind of behaviour has no place in politics, let alone local politics. Disgraceful behaviour that cannot go unpunished.

Joshua Frampton (Shaftesbury, 2020-04-18)

#133

The skills we need are those of persuasion, not bullying.

Roger Whitehead (Shaftesbury, 2020-04-18)

#134

Healthy debate is one thing. Bullying and name calling is altogether different.

Anya Noaked (Shaftesbury, 2020-04-18)

#135

I am disappointed in this human

Nick Arkell (Shaftesbury , 2020-04-18)

#136

Councillors should treat people with respect as they are representing the electorate!

Sue Jarrett (Chelmsford , 2020-04-18)

#138

Unacceptable behaviour

Alan Quinn (London, 2020-04-18)

#141

Abuse in any workplace is unacceptable.

Christopher Gray (Shaftesbury, 2020-04-18)

#142

I have signed this petition bc Karen Tippens has shown herself to be publicly acting against the good of the townspeople she volunteered and was elected to represent. She does not stand for the community spirit of Shaftesbury.

Tricia Reilly (Shaftesbury, 2020-04-18)

#149

Councillor Tippins is a vile member of the community and should not be allowed to carry on her duties as a councillor if she’s going to act in an aggressive and ill mannered way towards councillors that actually do good for our community!!

Frankie Hill (Dorset, 2020-04-18)

#150

I can’t believe the unprofessional attitude displayed by cllr Tippins in this video, her attitude is appalling and she should not be allowed to continue in her position on the council.

Jake Nesbitt (Shaftesbury, 2020-04-18)

#153

I think that behaviour does not represent the wishes of the residents of this town, the country or anywhere in the world.

Oliver Whitehead (Shaftesbury , 2020-04-18)

#154

I totally agree

Paul Schilling (Shaftesbury, 2020-04-18)

#156

We need decent councillors

Jonathan Corry (Shaftesbury , 2020-04-18)

#157

Whatever her opinion on Councillor Welch she should address only the issues at hand and in a fashion appropriate for an elected member.

Amy Hacker (Shaftesbury, 2020-04-18)

#165

I am signing because the behaviour as described is completely unacceptable in public office.

Diana Harris (Shaftesbury, 2020-04-18)

#167

Her conduct is completely unacceptable and at odds with all the good work other Councillors and officials are doing during the Covid-19 pandemic

Roy Mitchell (Shaftesbury , 2020-04-18)

#168

It seems that Cllr. Tipping may be long overdue on some furlough.

Tilly Upton (Shaftesbury, 2020-04-18)

#170

She has behaved in a most immature fashion and is unworthy to act as an elected representative

Christine Mitchell (Shaftesbury, 2020-04-18)

#174

Everyone has a voice to be heard, nobody should be bullied in any form

Finnola Tzagkaraki (London, 2020-04-18)

#175

Councillor Welch does not deserve this kind of abuse. This is reprehensible and should not be accepted. Councillor Tippins should resign immediately!

Mitchell King (Shaftesbury, 2020-04-19)

#177

The councillors comments were appalling and unprofessional.

Kate Newnham (Swansea, 2020-04-19)

#187

This sort of behaviour needs stopping!

Jo Giles (Sturminster newton, 2020-04-19)

#189

I'm signing because Cllr Tippins is behaving in a manner unbefitting her office and damaging the reputation of Shaftesbury.

Justine Elmendorff (Shaftesbury, 2020-04-19)

#192

I think she should never have been re-elected in the first place she caused no end of trouble with her husband when he was a Cllr.

Nicholas Thorne (Dorset, 2020-04-19)

#199

For whatever reason nobody should abuse another person individually or as a group.
Hope you're successful

Keith Davies (Shaftesbury, 2020-04-20)

Shaftesbury Civic Society has been concerned for some time by the inappropriate behaviour of Cllr K. Tippins both during Council meetings and towards the staff of the Town Council. We therefore feel it is appropriate for the Civic Society to endorse the petition raised by Shaftesbury’s Chamber of Commerce, calling for the immediate resignation of Mrs Tippins.
