As ex military, we absolutely love Byng House and visit every 2 years. It gives my husband and I some respite and is just like going home. We both love it there and really appreciate the staff and facilities.

Christine Grayston (Leicester, 2019-11-24)

#2202

My parents visit Byng House every 2 years and enjoy this break so much. They're both ex military and are disabled. This respite is very welcome.

Ann Dunkley (Leicester, 2019-11-24)

#2205

My Father Uncle and cousins were veterans also my husband.they should have a place for respite now and always..we have many veterans who are on the streets WHY..

Annette Gunning (Halsall nrl Ormskirk., 2019-11-24)

#2206

I am signing this because I think the The Royal British Legion do a fantastic job and do not get recognized for what they do. Many many families will be devastated if theses facilities are closed.

COLLAINE JENSEN (Hull, 2019-11-24)

#2212

I don't agree wih it, it's a disgrace

james ryan (Liverpool, 2019-11-24)

#2214

All current or ex service men an women deserve somewhere to relax and unwind .

Mark Espie (Cookstown, 2019-11-24)

#2215

They do a great job for the tourist and people of portrush

Gareth Gordon (Belfast, 2019-11-24)

#2218

I believe this shouldn't happen.

Denise Kettyles (Lisbellaw , 2019-11-24)

#2220

They have looked after our country and risked their lives ,now we should be looking after ghem

Wendy Gibbs (Leicester, 2019-11-24)

#2222

We need to support our armed forces veterans in every way we can, closing these facilities is just another rug being pulled out from under them.

Neil Hamilton (Southport, 2019-11-24)

#2225

Because ex service men and women and families need this care and support.

Sandra Whitehead (WestonsuperMare , 2019-11-24)

#2226

Bennett house provides excellent residential care for veterans

Jacqueline Barr (Coleraine, 2019-11-24)

#2227

I stayed in Benet House in Portrush 2 years ago with a friend who passed away this year. The British Legion does Great Work for all

Rosemary Lowry (Bangor, Co Down , 2019-11-24)

#2228

Not enough is done for our veterans as it is let alone taking away what good we do have.

Amanda Ingram (Inverness , 2019-11-24)

#2229

Im a wife of a 70 year old veteran who suffers with PTSD. I have no support whatsoever and feel that the RBL should keep these places open for respite for wives and kids who have no support and need a break looking after tgeir loved ones. I reallybekieve this is a backward step and one which wilk have a detrimental effect on our veteran community.

Linda Rudkin (Huddersfield , 2019-11-24)

#2230

Principle. There's nowhere that can touch the skills that are given to Veterans by the RBL. Please don't close the door on us.

Steven Johnston (HEMEL Hempstead , 2019-11-24)

#2232

I work at Byng House. And I have seen first hand how impactful and important this facility is for those vertans and their beneficiaries.

Rebecca Topping (Liverpool, 2019-11-24)

#2236

I help raise money every year for the RBL and am devestated that these incredible facilities are being closed. RBL you will loose a lot of support if you do this.

Mikr Millier (Weston super mare , 2019-11-24)

#2241

I think it a disgrace we ar a charity for ex service not a money making business

william Turpie (Lisburn, 2019-11-24)

#2242

To show my support from what the royal British legion do for veterans

Heather Brown (Liverpool , 2019-11-24)

#2245

I believe RBL has enough money to keep these facilities open!

Michael Lel (Maidenhead, 2019-11-24)

#2251

These centres are badly needed for veterans and their families.

Derek Mead (Hailsham, 2019-11-24)

#2254

I saw the benefit that a close friend gained from spending time in a Break Centre with his terminally ill wife just before her death. I have also seen the benefits that people have gained from the Handyman Service. People who have served their country deserve the best - and not being deprived of such vital services. As a PAO several people have spoken to me recently of their distress regarding this matter. I can see that TRBL could lose the goodwill of many of its staunchest supporters if these cuts proceed.

Anne Kemp (Truro, 2019-11-24)

#2255

I am an Ex Greenfinch and totally disagree with what's going on, typical Northern Ireland is hit first once again.
TOTAL DISGRACE.!!!

Ann Womersley (Yeppoon. Queensland , 2019-11-24)

#2256

We need this facility in Ireland.

Deirdre Espie (Belfast, 2019-11-24)

#2257

these centers are very much needed, and the rbl will lose my support if they shut

david hogg (craigavon, 2019-11-24)

#2259

A great many people throughly enjoy their respite breaks at TRBL homes/centres. This, in very many cases is the only respite/breaks they get.

Martin McCauley (Omagh , 2019-11-24)

#2261

my parents used these when they were alive, good places for them to go, we knew they were being looked after.

MISS LYNN BULLOCK (Shipley, 2019-11-24)

#2268

It’s the right thing to do

Derek Taylor (Bristol , 2019-11-24)

#2271

It is a disgrace. My local RBL last year collected £63k. For the poppy Remberance. Now if 1 branch can do that and all the others put together amazing money. How can RBL justify closing Bennett House. 💷💷💷💷 Seems to be all RBL is interested in.

Betty Payne (Belfast, 2019-11-24)

#2273

I have been a member for quite a few years, my Regimental Association, sits there, we have been bounced around from room to room, with no proper explanation, in my opinion it's time for change, vote our Veterns into office and get the problems sorted out, all the civillians who are associate members, should NOT BE ABLE TO VOTE IN ANY CAPACITY, their salaries could be put to a much needed program !!!, FAB./QS.

James H Robinson (Newtownards, 2019-11-24)

#2275

For my Dad and many others.

Esthet BENNETT (Walsall, 2019-11-25)

#2280

i dont agree they should close centres

Francis Connor (New Plymouth, 2019-11-25)

#2281

These breaks are vital for our ex servicemen and women

Angela Halliwell (Merseyside , 2019-11-25)

#2283

We need to look after our veterans

Ian West (Rainham, 2019-11-25)

#2285

Bying House is such a godsend for ex service men and women to have a well earned holiday it should not be closed down

Annette Naughton (Southport, 2019-11-25)

#2293

I think the closures are wrong

Martin Callan (Craigavon, 2019-11-25)

#2294

I believe this is an Invaluable service that benefits all ex sercie personnel in their time of need. The erosion of any support can only be negative to the people the RBL claims to assist.

Justin Spreadborough (Cambridge , 2019-11-25)

#2295

I’m signing because I live next door to Bing house and I can see how important this service is to the service men, women and their families.

Gillian Gater (Southport , 2019-11-25)

#2297

This is our only respite unit in Northern Ireland.

Mark Dougan (Armagh, 2019-11-25)

#2300

The respite homes should remain open and the London office closed and moved to cheaper offices in the midlands

John Salmon (Braintree, 2019-11-25)

#2302

These are valuable services that should not be cut!!

Sarah Williams (Albrighton, 2019-11-25)

#2304

I Think It Is A Disgrace That This Is About To Happen To Everyone That Is Involved In This Great Institution It Should Not B Allowed To Happen.

James Walker (Ballymoney , 2019-11-25)

#2306

This is a vital resource for the veteran community - and a very visible direct service provided by the RBL, it would be such a shame if they decided to close any of the Break Centres and the Handy Van Service.

Linda Butler (Ballymoney, 2019-11-25)

#2308

These veterans fought to give us our freedom so they only right deserve the help they get

Edward Stewart (Londonderry , 2019-11-25)

#2312

This is a very important place for veterans to stay, many have no other holidays or breaks in the year. These are people who served their country. It’s a sin for this building to be sold off.
If it’s sold off, I will never support British Legion again. And I do a lot to support it.
N.Ireland hit again by the Legion. 😡

Margaret Martin (Belfast, 2019-11-25)

#2314

I’m outraged that Northern Ireland’s only centre is being targeted. I’m a war pensioner & the cost of getting to the mainland is extortionate & the travel adds to stress levels.
How dare they?!

Nicola Bassett (Downpatrick , 2019-11-25)

#2316

I was going to book a break and heard of the closures. This is such sad news as I cannot afford a break any other way. Both myself and my wife have not had a break in over 5 years.

Philip Chamberlain (Burnley, 2019-11-25)

#2317

I consider that this is a vital respite service for veterans and their families

David Alexander (Portrush, 2019-11-25)

#2318

There are very little facilities available for ex serviceman to close these vital resources would be shameful

Michael Casey (Arbroath, 2019-11-25)

#2322

The centres are needed!!

Kate Powell (Derby, 2019-11-25)

#2327

This should stay open it a great place

Roberta Poole (Annalong, 2019-11-25)

#2328

These are needed for veterans respite.

John Hinson (HULL, 2019-11-25)

#2332

I have been a member of the Legion for many years and totally disagree with this proposal.

Jenny Desborough (Stevenage , 2019-11-25)

#2333

I'm ex service a Standard bearer and on the committee of the local ROYAL BRITISH LEGION

trevor eccles (Accrington , 2019-11-25)

#2338

This is the board of trustees tearing the RBL apart.

Noel Hegarty (Dungannon , 2019-11-25)

#2339

The break centres are needed for the armed forces personnel past and present .
The handy man van service is much needed too.

Mark Charleson (Manchester , 2019-11-25)

#2342

This is wrong!!....all our veterans have served this country not come over illegally and been handed free benefits....look after those who served to keep us safe and protected our democracy.

Paul Johnston (Kilkeel, 2019-11-25)

#2345

So we can support our former service men and women

Adam Koenig (Cambridge, 2019-11-25)

#2346

It should be kept open for the armed forces who have fought for this country and people depend on this as a break they need every 2 years .
It’s Aldo going to make thousands jobless who work in the hotels .

Pablo Sanchez (Manchester , 2019-11-25)

#2347

Once this has gone its lost for good , its like selling off your medals when you are broke , a quick fix , but never any value , always regretted

Chris Collins (Highbridge, 2019-11-25)

#2348

it's an absolute disgrace that the very people they are purporting to help will, now, no longer have access to rest and respite places!!

Keith Marsh (Pickering, 2019-11-25)

#2349

As an ex-matelot I realise how important it is to have someone and somewhere to turn to when needing help support advice and respite. Other than veteran charities, there is nothing on civvi street and very little understanding of the life we've experienced in service. There's no help in civvi street for us who, lole myself suffer the scars of service both physically and mentally and if anything are treated like 'scroungers' when trying to claim benefits. There are hundreds/thousands of veterans being left to cope on their own who slip through the net, that end up homeless or in prison. The benefit system assessments ignore PTSD and say that both mental and physically disabled veterans are fit to work. We are not valued by the system after serving Crown and country so we need the RBL's homes/respite centres to remain open and accessible to veterans.

Celia Mitchell (Gtr Manchester, 2019-11-25)

#2353

Simply because for some this was the only time they got companionship

Joan Scott (Northern Ireland , 2019-11-25)

#2356

This is a much needed service for vets and families

Donna Broad (Clacton on sea , 2019-11-25)

#2357

The vets need all the help they can get. The government have let them down dont you as well.

Wendy Blackham (Exmouth, 2019-11-25)

#2358

My friend stays here, & it helps him deal with his mental health problems. He so looks forward to meeting up with other veterans dealing with the same problems he has to live with.

Jane Churchley (Cheltenham , 2019-11-25)

#2360

It's disgraceful and an insult to all the staff and veterans

Sean Connolly (Southport, 2019-11-25)

#2370

These are core pet of the RBL support to Veterans and their families. This should be discuss at Annual Conference with members voting on this subject.

Gareth Edwards (Egremont , 2019-11-25)

#2375

I feel strongly about this.

William Peacock (Glasgow, 2019-11-25)

#2384

Closing these centres and the handy can service is not helping members of the armed forces at all. Service not self...... so lets keep serving the armed forces community and those that need it

Ruth Myers (Grevem, 2019-11-25)

#2385

I'm sighing this because our veterans deserve the surport during and after there service.

Peter Boulton (Weston super Mare , 2019-11-25)

#2389

The local communities support their local British legion so that they can hold local events for ex military personnel and the local people, not for headquarters to dismiss these vital local services!

Gary Browne (Nottingham, 2019-11-25)

#2390

I’m signing because as a veteran and having a veteran parent, sometimes it’s hard to find someone you can trust for the little jobs...

Lynn Hill (Burton on Trent , 2019-11-25)

#2391

The Royal British Legion is rich in cash reserves, why should it be considering the closure of these facilities?

Jeremy Scott (Armagh, 2019-11-25)

#2394

They have forgotten their calling. To big, to top heavy. To many over inflated ego's. Remember why you exist.. For the good of all others, not the few..

Terry Hayes (Ilfracombe , 2019-11-25)

#2396

I’m signing because this service is a lifeline for many veterans and supports positive mental health and well-being for veterans.

Sarah HB (Merseyside, 2019-11-25)

#2397

I'm signing because it's just plain wrong to close Bennet House

Mervyn McCutcheon (Gilford, 2019-11-25)

#2400

What will be left for NORTHERN IRELAND VETERANS....IF BENNET HSE CLOSED....NEVER USED ANY FACILITIES BUT HEARD GOOD REPORT FROM THOSE WHO NEEDED TO USE
