Save People's Park for the public

The States of Jersey are currently looking for a site to build a new hospital.

One of the preferred sites is People's Park, one of the few open green spaces left in St.Helier which the public can still enjoy.

On an island of our size, with a population of 100,000 we need all of the open spaces we can get, especially in St.Helier.

There are plenty of other sites which would be better suited to the building of a new hospital, all of which would not result in the destruction of a popular park area enjoyed by families, friends, pets and sports clubs alike.

There are plenty of things which should be considered in the planning of this new hospital, including traffic, road access, parking, noise, infrastructure and the impact on nearby residents & businesses. All of which make People's Park totally unsuitable.

I am launching this petition to try and put some pressure on the States of Jersey to re-consider their decision to include People's Park on their shortlist of possible sites.

If you agree that People's Park should remain as an open green space for the people of Jersey to enjoy, then please sign this petition.

If we do nothing the States will push ahead with their plans and this park will be lost to the island forever.
