Safety net for final year students disadvantaged due to COVID-19 and online learning

This is a petition to reinstate the Safety Net Policy to protect 3rd year student grades at York St John University 2020/2021.

We as students, in our final and most pivotal year,  have been dissadvantage due to the lack of face to face learning which the university has been able to provide as a direct result of COVID-19. 

The quality of the online teaching we have and continue to receive at York St John university is unacceptable. Poor delivery and/or pre recorded lectures is disgraceful.

We as students want our voice heard!!!
We are requesting the Safety Net Policy be reinstated for 2020/2021. 

It is understood that the original safety net was introduced as the decision to move to online learning was made swiftly and unexpectedly as a result of COVID-19 and government guidelines. Consequently, teachers were ill-equipped to deliver such learning.

We put it to you, have staff received comprehensive training on how to effectively deliver and engage students through online or worst still, pre-recorded lectures? Are there ongoing reviews of the classes being delivered with feedback given to staff on how they can improve from each class from a qualified individual to improve online teaching? 
Is student engagement and satisfaction being continuously  monitored? (Continuously: as the author is aware that feedback can fluctuate depending on circumstances. This would allow the university to gain a mean score on engagement and satisfaction making it more generalisable that a cross-sectional sample)

Important: WHY IS THE GRADING CRITERIA STILL THE SAME DESPITE THE TEACHING NOW BEING DIFFERENT? 

It is extremely hard to engage and concentrate at home with distractions. This is not the case in a quite and calm classroom. Many of us away from home, feeling anxious and unsure about the current situation. How are you protecting us and our grades? By the same argument that was given last year for the Satefy Net Policy, we request it is reinstated to protect our grades and our futures.

Many of us who are at home suffer from poor WiFi signal, home distractions, sharing a bedroom and other sibling tearing about to name but a few. 

It is unfair that we may, for the rest of our lives, be penalised for the potential drop in grades we may incurre as a result of this pandemic and the teaching we are now receiving. We are asking you for your help. Help protect our grades and future.
