RI Closing Down of CCAs

Dear Rafflesians,

We are the members of Wushu, Harmonica Ensemble and Gymnastics and Bowling (Year 1-4). And it pains us to inform you that the school has decided to close down our CCAs.

We really enjoyed the time we spent during our CCAs and are greatly saddened that juniors can no longer experience the fun we had and that such culture will be lost along with the closures of the CCAs. The reasons the school gave include declining membership and alignment issues. Although the CCAs are of a small batch, the school should not overlook the constant stream of a small group of passionate members year after year. Also, the school should not close down Wushu and Harmonica just because there are no such CCAs in the Year 1-4 side. It is true that this will really affect the standard of new members as they are inexperienced, but the school should never opt for the easy way out of closing down CCAs in Year 5-6 when it is difficult to set it up in the Year 1-4 side. Furthermore, closing down Gymnastics and Bowling in Year 1-4 side would ironically create the exact reason for closing Wushu and Harmonica in the Year 5-6 side.

We really hope that all Year 5-6 Rafflesians can lend us your support in our fight against the closure of our CCAs. The issue now is that the school is not only closing down one particular CCA but numerous one. Not only will such a decision have a great emotional impact on the members involved, it also represents a major restructure of the CCA landscape in the school.

We may be the minority but we are proud to stand up for the causes we believe in, even when the force is against us. And we hope the Rafflesian spirit can unite all of us to fight against the school decision. No matter what the result of this petition will turn out to be, all of us will be in deep gratitude of the support you lent us. And you can do so simply by signing on our petition to the school.

From the bottom of our hearts, Thank you!
