PETITION TO REJECT THE IDEOLOGICAL EAC SEXUAL AND REPRODUCTIVE HEALTH BILL 2024!

TO: The Honourable Speaker of the East African Legislative Assembly,

We, the undersigned, urgently call on you to halt all proceedings on the EAC Sexual and
Reproductive Health Bill 2024.

This controversial bill is being pushed through the East African Legislative Assembly (EALA) without proper public participation and in direct opposition to the values and laws of the East African Partner States.

Here’s why we must stop this bill now:

• It Undermines National Sovereignty: If passed, this bill will automatically supersede the
national laws of all EAC member states, forcing a one-size-fits-all, ideologically driven
agenda on millions of people without the need for ratification by their own parliaments.

• It Promotes a Foreign, Unpopular Agenda: The bill is a re-introduction of highly
contested legislation that has been repeatedly rejected by the public and governments
in the region since 2017. It pushes a "sexual rights" agenda—including abortion, sexual
autonomy for children, transgenderism, and surrogacy—that has never been accepted
by the EAC Partner States or the UN General Assembly.

• The Process is Corrupt and Undemocratic: The EALA General Purpose Committee (GPC)
is secretly processing this bill while colluding with foreign-funded, pro-abortion, and proLGBTQ+ groups. These radical organizations, masquerading as "development partners," are being given special access to influence legislators and hijack our legislative process.

This is neo-colonialism at its worst.

• Public Concerns Have Been Ignored: Past petitions against this bill were met with
intimidation and threats of arrest by EALA committee members. The legitimate concerns
of citizens, faith-based organizations, and pro-family groups have been consistently
ignored and dismissed.

• The Bill is Deceptively Worded: The latest version, the "EAC SRH Bill 2024," is essentially identical to its failed predecessors. The only significant change is a deceptive edit to one clause on abortion, which is designed to mislead while the bill's core agenda remains unchanged.

This legislation is not an authentic East African initiative. It is a foreign-backed attempt to
impose a radical ideology on our people. We stand with the pro-life and pro-family citizens of East Africa in demanding that our sovereignty, our values, and our democratic processes be respected.

We demand that you:

1. Immediately halt all processing of the EAC Sexual and Reproductive Health Bill 2024.

2. Intervene and call the EALA General Purpose Committee to order for their undemocratic conduct.

3. Reject this bill in its entirety, as its sole purpose is to advance a harmful and unwanted ideological agenda.

The future of our families and our nations is at stake. We urge you to act now and defend the will of the people.
