Make St. Ilid’s Meadow, Llanharan a Permanent Postal Round - Not Overtime Only.

St. Ilid’s Meadow in Llanharan has existed for nearly 5 1/2 years. Throughout this time the postal service has been very inconsistent, which has obviously been exacerbated by the Covid-19 Pandemic.

Residents regularly go 2 weeks at a time without receiving post, and some are still waiting for post which was due before Christmas.

Enquiries have been made with Pontyclun Sorting Office by numerous residents only to be told that the area is an ‘overtime only’ round and that if nobody wants to work the overtime, then the post doesn’t get delivered.

This is unacceptable, especially bearing in mind how long the estate has been in existence.

Delays are only to be expected in light of the pandemic but when so many people are working from home, the postal service should be reliable.

In the 5 1/2 years that we have lived here we have never had formal notification from Royal Mail regarding the round being ‘overtime only’, and I’m sure those who pay to post mail to us would appreciate knowing that we certainly aren’t receiving first or second class service.

We think that a petition from everyone affected will be more impactive than individual phone or written complaints as they currently seem to be falling on deaf ears.

Please take the time to sign and hopefully it will cause Royal Mail to re-think the postal service in our area.

Thanks.
