health & wellness of CDL HOS flexibility change on 14 hour rule

under current hours of service rules CDL holders are forced to operate under a non-stop 14 hour day 11 hour driving rule with a requirement of a 30 minute break that doesn't allow time to eat a healthy meal or give a chance to exercise while on duty during the shift . Many CDL holders are forced to eat unhealthy meals like fast food at is not designed to be a everyday meal . Fast food on a daily basis can lead to health problems like diabetes , hypertension and excessive weight gain .The inability to stop the clock is literally killing workers and putting many on disability and loss of medical certification because of no flexibility in the rules . The 30 minute rule is useless and problematic to a day's shift and needs to be removed and drivers need allowed time to eat healthy and exercise and still be able to complete the 14 hour day of work . CDL holders need up to 4 hours per day to stop the clock without penalty of the 14 hour day in order to achieve this goal . This would be a revised hours of service change 14 hour work on duty 11 hour driving time with a 4 hour offduty allowance that can be used at any point in the shift and still require a 8 hour sleep break and the 4 hours can substitute the mandatory 10 hours break time . This petition requires study's to be done on drivers health on how much time is needed to get a healthy meal and exercise and studying the number of drivers that have develop catastrophic illness due to lack of flexibility in hours of service by Congress to FMCSA and proposal of rules being changed to allow CDL holders to be able to complete the shift make a living and maintain a healthy life style .
