GemBar Petition

We the people of Lambton, Klipoortjie, Parhill Gardens, Hazeldene and Hazel Park, hereby call on the municipal structures to assist in the closure of the following venue:

• GemBar, Corner Webber and Third Avenue, Germiston.

The motivation for closure is based on the following observations:

1. These places harbour unsavoury characters that often incite violence, cause harm to people and property, as well as fuel general civil disobediance.
2. Contravene the Liquor Act, 2003, by selling alcohol outside the designated trading hours, and by serving liquor to minors.
3. Add to the number of road casualties by encouraging a culture of drunk driving.
4. Waste valuable police, security and community police forum time.
5. Escalate the number of domestic violence cases.

As mentioned above, these places detract, rather than add to the social conditions of the mentioned areas.

This matter has gone on for far too long. We are tired of the endless issues that arise from the above mentioned place.
