The World today is short on principle the lack of which, it would seem abounds. Christians, of whatever persuasion, are taught that the Love of Christ transcends all. Whether, either ex ante or ex post, we are right or wrong is, to a large degree irrelevant, the issue is whether or not we are true to those principles.

A fundamental justification of the Old Salesian Club is that it provides a means of reinforcing old and long term relationships and this is only right. Perhaps more special is the environment that it provides, week in week, out for those friends to bond with others and for those others to enjoy the unique experience of the club’s extraordinary hospitality that can only result from commitment and adherence to the fundamental principle.

I am deeply saddened to learn that the Trustees have seen fit to bring this long and vital tradition to an end. Respectfully I, a Scots Presbyterian who, along with his son, has enjoyed the unconditional warmth and affection of the Club’s members would ask the Trustees to reconsider their decision.

Yours aye
