Used to live on Ravens Avenue and passed these wonderful buildings every day on my way to school, its a shame they have finished up in such a state, they should be restored and put back into use.

We can spend money on rubbish like silly statues but not on such things as the chapels which I have said for a long time need restoring. I for one totally back this petition.

This cemetery has been a disgrace for years. I have had to repair my family grave 3 times at considerable cost. The 3rd time I asked permission of Kirklees for my grandson, a qualified stone mason, to be allowed to repair the stone and was refused because he did not have £1 million pound public liability insurance, the stone in question is approx 6" high, what harm could he have done?Living on Ravenshouse road I played with my friends in the cemetery but none of us ever went near a grave, my step mother refused to be burried along with my father because of the state the place was in, how sad is that? Five years ago, just after Batley cemetery was done up I was told Dewsbury would be next, yes next century maybe! Hang you heads in shame Kirklees.

These buildings need to be sorted. They are nothing short of an embarassment. Put aside finds to get them back to their former glory as an act of urgency.
Thank you

My ancestors are buried here. Any stone building over 100 years old should be saved. Dewsbury has already lost too many of its historic buildings. Fix them up Kirklees!

The council should be ashamed of themselves, letting buildings like these get into such a state.

If it was my house that was falling to bits Kirklees would soon serve me an order telling me to put it right or they would send someone in and charge me !!!!!!
