The last thing the world needs is 'another' set of traffic lights ..... why not block the junction and people could join on Eccles Rd or the height

I've lived on the corner of this junction for 13 years and have witnessed countless accidents....even the police have tried to get the council to do something about it...maybe now they'll listen once and for all! Come on Salford Council....how many more deaths do you want on your hands!

that part of east lancs rd has always been dangerous so it needs traffic lights their for sure.

Barton Road Traffic Lights

Having lived near this junction for over 10 years, I have seen numerous accidents from small prangs to the one that happened on that fateful Sunday where two innocent young persons lost there lives, for the price of a set of lights.
How Councillor Gena Merrett can call this a "knee-jerk reaction to a single event" is frightening and totally misguided, it just goes to show that these people do not live in the real world. If they came out of their ivory tower more and got face to face with the ordinary people who elected them to their position they would gain more credibility.
I find it truly amazing that the death of two young people does not warrant the council spending taxpayers money to provide something that clearly taxpayers want, however they are more than happy to spend it on white elephants like a guided bus route which clearly is not wanted by the majority of people in Salford.

I'm literally begging for something to be done about speeds on that road. A kid was killed down there last year due to speeding and clearly changing the speed limit has done nothing because there's no deterrent to drive slower. If you are going to have such a low speed limit on such a wide dual carriageway you need to back it up with enforcement. Something needs doing clearly because 2 more lives have been lost, 2 people who were close friends of mine.
