Expansion of London Luton Airport

Thank you to the many thousands of people who’ve signed the hard copy version of this petition. I’ve set up this page for anyone who hasn’t been able to sign the hard copy petition and would like to do so online.

Luton’s communities are resilient, caring and have supported each other through a number of difficult years. Vital funds generated from our airport have helped keep the town afloat. And the importance of the airport to the town have never been as clear following the impact of COVID and the current cost of living crisis.

But poverty remains too high in Luton which is why we support the plans to grow London Luton Airport. It would bring around 11,000 new jobs to the town. It would also produce millions of pounds of additional funding for local charities, helping to transform thousands of lives in our community.

In addition, growing the airport would help to bring more investment and business activity to Luton, growing our local economy by more than £1 billion. We need this to stop our children growing up in poverty.

Importantly, we understand that these benefits will not come at the expense of the planet and people's quality of life, as we know Luton Rising will put stringent environmental constraints on any future growth.
