Difficulty in establishing uninterrupted internet connection for the online monitoring of our 8th semester university examination at VJCET

It has been informed, that our institute is planning to conduct the end semester exams of final years with online monitoring. This poses several problems for students.

#Uncertainty of uninterrupted internet connectivity which can cause disconnection issues which creates an unnecessary mental burden on the student. Many being in containment zones, the network providers are  unwilling to rectify these issues.

#Frequent electricity blackouts from the heavy monsoon season results in disrupting the Wi-Fi modem connections thus automatically, the student exits from the Google classroom/meet or any other hosting facility.

#During the time of examination the student is thus forced to try and repair the connection rather than writing the examination.

#An overwhelming majority of students are from Idukki, which is known to have long power outages, particularly during the monsoon season which is now in it's full swing. At the same time we have a sizeable number of students from central and northern parts of Kerala, where there are similar issues of long power outages due to the incessant rain that is beating down on our state.

The students of the final semester have no qualms with writing the exams as we are aware and highly concerned with the delay in the conduct of the examination has caused us valuable time in entering into the job market and thus effecting our professional careers. At the same time the concerns we raise are ones that effect a large number of students on a day to day basis and will severely hamper the effectiveness and the fairness of attempting the exams, as equal opportunity due to the factors raised above, for attempting the exams in fair and equal manner will be severly diminished.

So, we the Final year students humbly request the institute to seriously look into the use of online monitoring, and give equal opportunity to every student in these unprecedented times.
