Campus Reopening For Freshers

With the delay of about a month from normal years this year’s classes, in online mode, in our esteemed university commenced on 15th oct succeeding a weeklong orientation providing us with the detailed knowledge about the working of our university. After having to go through a year long of online education in class 12th and unplanned cancellation of the board examination in various state as well as central board, we students strongly believe that university education, which shapes our future, needs to be done in a proper manner. The online mode though being useful in many ways, cannot be compared or completely changed with the conventional offline classes. With the following pointers we would like to put forward our grievances to kindly acknowledge the situation of us students and give a suitable remedy for the issues posted:

1.       Even though online classes give us an advantage of recorded sessions, offline mode will be appreciated since the habit of sitting in the class and taking notes will be cultivated at the early stages of our university education

2.       Student- teacher interaction becomes much easier and effective during offline sessions.

3.       Reduction in screen time can drastically change the performance of the students in curricular, co and extracurricular activities

4.       Courses like engineering needs a more practical approach which cannot be reached in any level by the stimulations provided in various websites, software, etc. Whereas the field of law requires the child to absorb the nuances of the professionalism in his/her branch studies.

5.       The pandemic situation has mentally and physically drained a lot students. Joining the classes through mobile phones, without any human interaction, over a long period may cause serious implications on the mental health of the students.

With the internal examination around the corner, we as students, want to have a self-check on the position we stand in to improve our preparations in the subjects which are very new to us. This might be possible in online examinations due to varied issues like network issues. After seeing the conditions of various cities affected in floods, power cuts and water flowing into the houses also cannot be predicted.  This grieving situation may even lead to the student to be afflicted by some disease like dengue and other water borne diseases, which are on the rise during these times.   Hence we hereby place our request to consider offline mode of classes for the first year students as soon as possible keeping in mind the vaccine status of students and other factors.
