Stop removal of wire fence over Flaxland Way Paddock, Priors Hall

Comments

There are so many valued dog owners with well behaved dogs who need and deserve to be exercised in a safe space when this is what has previously been advertised by management.

Sophie Duval (Corby, 2023-10-04)

It’s always been known as a safe place to walk your dog. By removing the chicken wire it is just making it unsafe for everyone and was clearly there for a reason in the first place. Not everyone can drive to other areas and because a select few choose to not pick up after their dog is not an excuse to take something away. It’s sold as plenty of green spaces to enjoy yet they all seem to be disappearing!

Jemma Giddins (Corby, 2023-10-05)

#3

I believe that dogs need a secure area to be walked

Roxie Bright (Northamptonshire , 2023-10-05)

#4

I don’t not understand the logic of trying to solve an Issue by making a place less safe. I am concerned with the fence removed this could cause serious accidents as the field leads onto the A43. The money used to remove the fence could be use much more effectively to benefit the community.

Ian Abraham (Corby, 2023-10-05)

#5

This is my dog’s favourite place!
I am visually impaired so in the winter it’s too dark a lot of the time to walk up much further than up and down Kestrel rd.
so at the weekend he gets a treat, to run about on the field as part of this longer weekend walks.

Ryan Giddins (Priors hall, Corby , 2023-10-05)

#7

This is a lovely place to walk and excercise my dogs.

Kim Ballard (Corby, 2023-10-05)

#11

I take my dog there regularly and he loves it

Grace Hooper (Corby, 2023-10-05)

#15

This has also been a secure place to walk our dogs and never had any issues. We actually made friends and our dog loved a safe place to play with other dogs. It was advertised as a secure dog walking area when we moved here.

Katie Louise (Corby, 2023-10-05)

#17

This field albeit containing a Roman remain was advertised as a secure dog walking area.
The remains are already marked out with slightly overgrown meadow flowers, without them there you wouldn’t even know it existed and there isn’t actually anything to look at as an attraction anyway. I would rather see the dog walkers having their morning meets in this field and seeing the dogs bouncing around off lead than to see it empty! The road at the end is dangerous and by removing the secure fencing you are actually putting more animals at risk than saving them on the first place. If anything you should make this field as secure as possible because dogs make 98% of people happier and it benefits our community. If not I highly recommend that you find someone else to build a secure walking fence for those who’s dogs have boundless energy and need a good run and fetch of the ball. You should listen to the people and provide what we need to be happy to live here. If dog poop is a problem set up CCTV and fine those who ruin nice things for everyone else!

I don't agree with PHP management, using part of my management fees to needlessly remove safety wire on the Flaxland way field ( after using our money to put in up in first place ) .This is the worst idea of PHP management that should concentrate on bigger issues that this estate have , rather than picking on dog owners.

Kinga Waksmundzka (Corby, 2023-10-05)

#25

There is no blanket law requiring dogs to be kept on a lead in all public spaces. However, there are a series of orders that mean you have to leash your dog in certain places in your local area, for example children’s play areas, sports pitches, roads, parks and beaches. This field is neither of those aforementioned areas, therefore there's is no specific law requiring me to leash my dog in this field and I do not agree with my management fees being used to remove the fence

Kind regards

Marc

MARC OBRIEN (Corby, 2023-10-05)

#27

I’m a resident of PHP with a dog. I use the field and have never had an issue.

Abby Reilly (Corby, 2023-10-05)

#28

I live in priors hall and having somewhere to walk the dog is good not only me but loads of others do the small minority of spiteful people should not ruin a good thing

Thomas Waters (Corby, 2023-10-05)

#29

Being a responsible dog owner, it’s a great area to have to let my dog stretch his legs.
This is only done when no other dogs are about, but it’s good to know it’s secure when he’s getting his exercise.
The minority shouldn’t spoil it for the majority and as the maintenance fee will have paid for the wire fence to go up in the first place, it shouldn’t then be used to take it down again, without a public consultation.

Lee R (Corby, 2023-10-05)

#30

The use of the paddock was a selling point for when we bought our house. It was advertised as a place to exercise our dogs and have been doing so on and off lead. I have dogs that require a lot of exercise therefore allowing them to be off lead to chase a ball and play with each other is a necessity. Removal of the wire fencing will not deter the inconsiderate dog owners from letting their dogs run riot but will make things more unsafe for everyone else. Also, I’m a little cross at the thought of my maintenance fee being used to remove it without prior consent. There are far more important things for our money to be spent on rather than some complaints about the paddock.

Katie Jackson (Corby , 2023-10-05)

#32

I have a dog who loves the field and this decision is unfair.

Rhiannon Louise (Northamptonshire, 2023-10-05)

#36

It is ridiculous that this rule is being imposed to walk dogs on lead in the paddock when a public footpath runs through it. I am disgusted that the chicken wire around the fence is going to be removed! Basically a deterrent . Leads on or let your dog risk being run over and killed if they get out through the fences! Absolutely disgusting!!!

Catherine Dickson (Corby, 2023-10-05)

#37

This fencing is not bothering anyone and also protecting small dogs and different animals to going trough also when is there just leave it where it is

Andrzej Obielak (Corby , 2023-10-05)

#38

It makes sense to keep the fence in place. It helps keep children and those who might not be comfortable with dogs safe. Theres clearly more advantage keeping the fence than removing it.

Arron Small (Corby, 2023-10-05)

#40

It’s a lively safe space to walk dogs.

Diane Rose (Corby, 2023-10-05)

#42

My kids play in this area I’ve here of one child trying to cross the road and nearly being hit by a car , a dog was hit by a car in that same road removal of the fence would put lives in danger.

Tina Mathis (Corby, 2023-10-05)

#46

I take my dog out and he loves to run around the field and no one ever had an issue.

Nadia Sequeira (Corby, 2023-10-05)

#47

Our dogs deserve a secure place where they can exercise

Lorena Vlad (Corby, 2023-10-05)

#48

There is so much green area on priors hall for everyone to enjoy, why can’t this be left as it is for the doggies to enjoy?! which it has been for years, I don’t understand why now after at least 6 years it’s changing.

Katie Conroy (Northampton, 2023-10-05)

#49

Our favourite part of the estate is the dog paddocks. We are dog lovers and love to see our dog play with others while getting the chance to fuss other dogs. We've lived on the estate for six years, and the paddock for us is the heart of the Priors Hall community. It needs to be made more dog-safe, not less.

Clay Coleman (Corby, 2023-10-05)

#51

I agree with keeping this area as an enclosed dog walking space, I think it adds a lot of value.

Robert Owen (Priors Hall , 2023-10-05)

#52

Our dog can't go far due to bad legs and this is the only place where he stretch them out, it was sold to us as a great walking area for dogs. Those who moan should get a life instead.

Katiusha King (Corby, 2023-10-05)

#54

I live on priors hall and agree. It was sold as one thing and I don’t feel like it’s fair to change it

tom Aviss (Corby, 2023-10-05)

#55

Absolutely ridiculous!
Never heard anything so petty in all my life !!!
Let the dogs play together and enjoy themselves 😠

Tracey Conlon (Corby , 2023-10-05)

#56

I've lived on PHP for nearly 11 years and been a dog owner for 2.5 , I think residents deserve to have a secure field where they can run their dogs, and not be forced to hire a paddock , not everyone can do that especially if dogs need excersize multiple times a day, and we are already paying extortionate charges for our homes, mgmt fee and council tax. I struggle to understand on what basis would management company make this ridiculous decision, it should be retracted.

Aneta Olsen (Corby, 2023-10-05)

#57

I disagree with removal of the wire

Marie Taylor (Corby, 2023-10-05)

#59

I'm signing because I would like to be able to run my dog in a safe place. I do understand that the field isn't 100% secure but take full responsibility for my dog if she manages to escape.
This field is great for our community and brings people together.
I feel by removing the wire will not stop people using the field but will put dogs/ cars and people at more risk of accidents that potentially can happen.

Damon Olsen (Corby , 2023-10-05)

#60

This is the only area within walking distance of the estate that has a wide open space for dogs for socialisation and exercise. Priors Hall has always been marketed as ideal for dog owners, and many of our dogs are friendly with each other - it is such a shame they wont have a safe area to play together anymore. I am sure if you included a dog field in the next phase, it would be well utlised and encourage dog owners to move here. You could even have rental hours for classes, or crowdsource for permanent agility equipment with much engagement and enthusiasm from the dog owners here I feel.

Jessica Christina (Corby, 2023-10-05)

#62

The area was advertised as a secure area to walk dogs, part of our decision in moving to Priors, asking residents to keep dogs on leads while others are there to avoid conflicts is one thing, good guidance in fact, but removing the wire fencing is a waste of time and resources to when it acts as a safety net for many residents with dogs.

Christopher Jackson (Corby, 2023-10-05)

#63

It's unsafe next to a busy road not to have it. Waste of money to remove it.

Maria Frost (Corby, 2023-10-05)

#66

I live on the Priors Hall and have enough that kind of stupid changes there, where minority of moaners try to tell other how they suppose to live. Originally this area was and still is for dogs and this should stay like this.

Atanael Panczak (Corby, 2023-10-05)

#67

Because of one or 2 people moaning you are ruining it for everyone when this was advertised on your site that it was a gated secure area perfect for dogs.

Instead of not being bold enough to say, dogs bark, it's not enforceable to make people leash their dogs etc

Jeni Church (Corby, 2023-10-05)

#68

It will be unsafe for dogs, people won’t stop exercising them and shouldn’t have to!
The area was ALWAYS advertised by Priors Hall Management as dog walking area.
The wire was out there to keep dogs safe, why remove it now?
Better to install a cctv so if any dog attacking incidents happen owners will be easily identifiable.

Aga Swierczek (Priors Hall Park, 2023-10-05)

#70

For all of the above reasons

Ruth Pishhorn (Corby, 2023-10-05)

#74

Having a 'safe' and dedicated place to walk/exercise dogs off the lead is a huge bonus to living here and living the PARK LIFE that was advertised!

Laura Parkes (Corby, 2023-10-05)

#75

Turning this field from something which serves an actual function to the community, into an unlit field next to no one in the community goes to, with quick and easy access to main road (by removing the fencing), will quickly turn it into the perfect place for antisocial behaviour.

If you think the very occasional dog mess (I’ve rarely seen any on my walks there) is a problem, just wait til you’ve got a field full of empty alcohol bottles and nightly drunken teenagers shouting the place down.

Can park management things through for once?

Simon Jenkin (Corby, 2023-10-05)

#78

What a complete waste of our money putting up fencing then taking it down. Let people walk their dogs and spend your time and our money doing something more constructive!

Alison Ball (Weldon, 2023-10-05)

#83

Off the waste of money that PHP want to spend removing the fence

David Lee (Corby , 2023-10-05)

#84

This should be the choice of the people who live here. I am next to the field and having the fencing and wiring is a big help . Massive waste of our money to take this down after we have paid to put it up!

Bonnie Dunion (Corby, 2023-10-05)

#89

I want somewhere safe to walk my dog

Adrian Hollis (Corby, 2023-10-05)

#90

I understand there is an issue with dog mess not being picked up and the occasional dog attack but this not the way to tackle the situation. They are penalising the majority because of the few. If a dog owner isn’t going to pick up mess off lead, the chances are they don’t pick up mess when on lead either. I have two very social dogs who I only let off lead if either (a) we are in the field alone or (b) they know the other dogs. It’s common sense.

Suzanne Rose (Corby, 2023-10-05)

#92

The area was advertised for dog walking when I was purchasing the house as little as a year ago. I even took my toddler there to prevent him running into the road.

Dzeneta Vainauskaite (Corby, 2023-10-05)

#94

To support the locals

Olga Barber (Kettering , 2023-10-05)

#96

Removing this is punishing the majority of
people who actually do clean up after themselves and there fur babies rather than the very few who don’t.

Suzie Marshall (Corby , 2023-10-05)

#101

This is a stupid idea

Vincent OBrien (Weldon, 2023-10-05)

#103

I am against removing it. It is our favourite place for walks

Gabriela Swiecka (Corby, 2023-10-05)

#104

It's a beautiful area for walks that's felt safe and like such a bonus to Priors Hall. It will be a big loss to such a fantastic place. Our dogs love to run around happy, safe there and it's only ever been a fantastic way to meet other fellow residents and dogs.

Michelle Owen (Priors Hall, Corby , 2023-10-05)

#105

It's the only safe place to walk my old dog.

Grant O'Flattery (Corby, 2023-10-05)

#106

It’s a great place for me to exercise my dogs both on & off lead therefore the fence is required to keep them & any children that may be walking in there too safe from the road traffic.

Tracey Walters (Corby, 2023-10-05)

#107

I’m signing because I’m fed up of management selling lies and going back in their word. My dogs are my family and I want a safe place to take them, the same way management are doing this for kids in the estate.

Katrina Dale (Corby, 2023-10-05)

#108

Dogs have always been allowed to play freely in the field. My puppy will have no safe area to play fetch which is heartbreaking all because of a single resident on Flaxland Way who has issues with dogs being happy and barking. A single resident asked for all of this. Shame on you.

Michelle Agbor (Kettering, Northamptonshire, United Kingdom, 2023-10-05)

#110

Is for security

Kasia Kala (Corby, 2023-10-05)

#112

Dogs lives matter! Taking down the fence to make it less safe for dogs is disgusting.

Collette Graham (Priors Hall, 2023-10-05)

#114

We have just moved into the estate with our puppy and so happy the is a secure place to train him

Shelley Jenkins (Corby, 2023-10-05)

Kel Fowler-Claypole (Northants , 2023-10-05)

Dangerous move to take the netting down when it’s so close to a main road

Niall Hunneman (Corby, 2023-10-05)

#128

All the dogs are able to socialise and have fun safely together

Tony Graham (Priors Hall, 2023-10-05)

#131

This paddock has been advertised as a local dog walk area, secure and large to exercise dogs off lead. It is well used. I question the need to remove it at all, the expense etc

Jan Nicholson (Corby, 2023-10-05)

#133

This is a nonsensical decision.

Gary Jackson (Weldon, 2023-10-05)

#134

I’m a Priors Hall resident that uses the field as a safe place for my two dogs to run and enjoy themselves. This was also one of the reasons we bought our house on Priors Hall, because the field was advertised at a enclosed area for dog walking.

Bryony Mitchell (Corby, 2023-10-05)

#135

I often walk my dog off the lead here and he is never any trouble. Always pick up and dispose in the dog bins provided. Such a shame as one of the main reasons for moving here.

Stephen Ward (Priors Hall, Corby , 2023-10-05)

#136

My dog loves playing with other friendly dogs in the paddock

Sam Tustin (CORBY, 2023-10-05)

#137

Because yet again, we are bowing to the few instead of listening to the many. Dogs need somewhere to run. Considering PHP is supposed to be a park, there’s a massive lack of green areas…. The field was intended as a dog field, hence the gates and poo bins 🤷🏻‍♀️

Sarah Deegan (Corby, 2023-10-05)

#139

WELATH AND DESTRUCTION. It's literally written on the plaque in this field, which is ironic given that a few people with a bit of money think they own the entire estate. What's next? Telling people they can't let their kids in the park in case they make a bit or noise or continue to leave litter? Irresponsible dog owners won't care either way for the wire. Only people you're punishing are those who use the area correctly in the first place.

Kris W (Corby, 2023-10-05)

#142

Stupid idea and a waste of our money ! Supporting dog exercise

Hayley Bird (Corby, 2023-10-06)

#143

I believe that this area should remain a safe place for dog walkers and their dogs

Kev Speirs (Corby, 2023-10-06)

#144

What a complete waste of time and money removing a fence. The field is so important to dog owners, our dogs are able to socialise, likewise their owners it is a communal space and in this day and age that is so important for people’s wellbeing. Removing the fence will potentially put dogs lives at risk and the community feel will disappear. Surely there are more important things money can be spent on rather than removing a fence. Why no consultation with the residents??

Gill Swindell (Corby, 2023-10-06)

#145

What idiot has decided to spend money removing the fencing around the dog walking field ? I walk my dog every day in this field off the lead and will continue to do so. If anyone would like to stop me for a chat, feel free to do so.

Mick Swindell (Corby, 2023-10-06)

#146

I walk my dog here most days and was a selling point of buying a property at Priors Hall. PHPM must listen to all sides and not just those that complain

Calum Duffy (Corby, 2023-10-06)

#147

I have lived here for 7 years and use the paddock to walk our dogs regularly. Removing the wire fencing is pointless and a waste of residents money.

Madeleine Parsons (Corby, 2023-10-06)

#149

We have a friendly dog who enjoys his walks on the field and meeting other dogs. We do this regularly and have never come across any problems.

Sick of wasted PHP Management Funds, Was never give the option to discuss.

Liam Underwood (Corby, 2023-10-06)

I do not want the removal of the dog walking field as I use this field daily with my dog which has been a massive positive and huge help with my battle against my mental health in recent years so to see them look to remove this worries me and upsets me greatly

#156

It’s a safe place to walk your dogs

Emma Douglas (Northampton, 2023-10-06)

#157

I’m forced to pay an extortionate amount of money per year on a service charge. Remove my ability to play fetch with my well trained dog and I’m not using a single service I’m being charged for

Emily Carroll (Corby, 2023-10-06)

#158

There is absolutely no reason whatsoever to decree that dogs must be on a lead. It’s simply a knee-jerk reaction to recent news reports

Jo Carroll (Corby , 2023-10-06)

#159

We should be allowed to walk our dogs

Caroline Thompson (Corby, 2023-10-06)

#160

Because that was the purpose of that field, hence why the fence was put on with the metal wiring. Would be very sad to see it gone. For those that don’t like having their dog off lead, there’s plenty of other places to walk your dog (eg the gully) which is all on lead walking.

George Muckett (Corby, 2023-10-06)

#161

This was promoted as a dog walking area, never had an issue in the 3 years we had our dog. So many positives to be spoilt by very few isolated incidents

Calum Drummond (Corby, 2023-10-06)

After almost 6 years on the estate walking dogs I have never had, nor seen an issue with dog's with one another on the field; owners respectfully leash their dogs in the even they are unsure - almost every owner has been respectful of that in this time.

While I don't doubt that there may be some exceptions, this is going to be massively disproportionate to the volume of walks carried out without any issue.
In respect of owners not cleaning after their animals, the removal of the fence and having the dogs on the lead will not change this, as such its an ineffective measure to tackle the "problem"
People parking cars in the area is statistically more likely due to the parks than the field & this won't change, more so the fact these cars are, for the most part, parking legally.
The management company should be managing the exceptions, laws already exist to tackle owners with aggressive dogs, people not cleaning after their dogs, people who park illegally - but these take resource to police & removing the fence is just an easy cop out, it isn't tackling those causing the problem & is unlikely to change their behaviours - as such, it isn't the answer.

This area was initially there as a safe paddock for off lead well behaved dogs. The secure fence, lockable gates and dog waste bins were all provided for that purpose. We have moved to the area specifically so we can be closer, for our very active and super friendly dog. We enjoy meeting other people and their dogs there, please do not take it away, it would be such a waste. Instead, please provide such paddocks for zones 2 and 3. Thank you! 😊

Maria Ford (Corby, 2023-10-07)

#186

Help enable dogs to be safe and socialise , reduce stress and improve the community . Good dog owners value such spaces, do control and train their 4 legged furry friends and pick up poo after them.

Those on PHP this is a great space .
Weldon park is also lovely once you have safely navigated crossing the A43!

Signing because dogs NEED a secure walking area and the houses were sold on the basis that the facility would be there.

Henry Gaye (Weldon, 2023-10-11)

#197

I specifically bought my property because the Priors Hall Management information, specifically stated that the Flaxland Way Paddock was available for residents to safely walk their dogs on a secure and gated facility. The area is predominantly only used by dog walkers, of whom, the majority clear up after their dogs and respect the environment. The proposal by Priors Hall Management, is an abuse of their delegated powers. The wire fencing was recently installed, clearly at the considerable expense of residents who pay the Priors Hall Management Fees. Priors Hall Management, have no right or authorisation to remove fencing that has been paid for by residents through their Management Fees. Should this fencing be removed, residents should be encouraged to withhold management fees, until the fencing is reinstated. A public meeting should be convened, requiring the attendance of Senior Priors Management Representatives to justify their proposals .The implication that walking dogs off the lead, has a negative impact on the Ancient Monument is totally ridiculous. Such suggestion, brings into question the suitability of of those responsible for the Management of the environment of where we collectively live.

Graham Hardy (Priors Hall Corby, 2023-10-16)

#198

I’m a resident of priors hall and own a dog, I have regularly taken her to the gated paddock and the wire mesh ensures she is safe. If anything, it should be ensured wire mesh surrounds the entire paddock to promote safety of every residence pooch.

Charlotte Humphries (Corby, 2023-10-20)

I moved to Priors Hall with the understanding that there was a secure dog field for my boy to play with other friendly pups.
