We must protect these historic trees! They're part of the beauty that make this plane magical.

Roxanne Cheney (Beaufort , 2022-07-06)

#207

We need to save all our Live Oaks

Charles Fouts (Port Royal, 2022-07-06)

#215

I care about preserving the character or Port Royal and landmark live oaks.

Laurel Rhoten (Beaufort , 2022-07-06)

#216

Live oak trees are part of Port Royal’s history. Preserve Cool. Preserve Coastal. Preserve Far From Ordinary.
Don’t do it.

Sally Jessee (Port Royal, 2022-07-06)

#217

There are some things more important than buildings. These trees are gift they need to be protected. No one has the right to destroy nature.

Elaine Kernan (Port Royal Sc , 2022-07-06)

#220

I care about the community

Richard Lauria (port royal, 2022-07-06)

#224

Too many trees are being cut down to squeeze in as many homes as possible. It is taking away what Port Royal truly was and that is the beautiful town that it once was. Please stop destroying the character of Port Royal!

I'm a 5th generation From Port Royal,SC. After seeing all the 350+ year old Live Oaks cut down to build an assisted living business, these beautiful trees in my hometown need saving..

Ryan Parsons (Port Royal , 2022-07-06)

#229

Please do not approve the removal of the Live Oak trees at the 12th Street development.

Nancy Xander (Port Royal, SC, 2022-07-06)

#234

I thought when we moved here that the towns in and county of Beaufort loved and protected their live oaks. Since I've been here, I've seen "progress" clear cutting acres upon acres of trees, including large live oaks. It seems that the only large live oaks that are protected are the ones that are on individual property (and only so long as a developer doesn't buy it)

Lori Marcrum (Beaufort , 2022-07-06)

#238

Save the damn trees!! These contractors are getting everything they wish for. They are not good people. Ok I have not met a single one since moving here in 2015!!! Their track record speaks volumes. Wake up!

Roxanne Pierce (Beaufort , 2022-07-06)

#239

I would to be allowed in the City of Beaufort and it shouldn't be allowed in the city of Port Royal. The ,last thing we need is to remove these trees and open ourselves up landslides and waterfront erosions

joseph brown jr (beaufort, 2022-07-06)

#246

It's the right thing to do. Trees are Life. We already have enough unaffordable housing.

Dorothy Curtis (Beaufort, SC, 2022-07-06)

#247

St. Mark’s has a vital interest in preserving the quality of life in Port Royal.

Roy Tripp (Beaufort, 2022-07-06)

#249

I live in Beaufort county and my farm exhibits at the Port Royal Farmer’s Market. I believe the precedent that is being set by allowing removal of these grand trees will have a forever negative impact on the Town of Port Royal and Beaufort County as well.

Maria Baldwin (Seabrook, 2022-07-06)

#251

I am signing because over development is happening in Beaufort County.

Susan Wyant (Ladys Island, 2022-07-06)

#254

My father & mother live in The Town of Port Royal and the trees are part of our history and should always be protected! Especially, to development!

Kimberlee Neel (Columbia, 2022-07-06)

#256

I’m signing because the historic district in Port Royal is at once beautiful and scenic. I gravitate to the peace and tranquillity the oaks provide. My family has lived in Port Royal for several decades.

Wemme Walls (Port Royal, 2022-07-06)

#258

Beaufort county's oak trees are an integral part of its beauty and are irreplaceable
Please protect them!

Abbegail Eason (Beaufort, 2022-07-06)

#262

The two trees on 12th street should not be cut down for an overpriced tight subdivision. The trees add to the lots character, and is right across from Alano Hall, which creates an area of peace for those working through addiction.

Galen Sturup Comeau (Port Rpyal, 2022-07-07)

#263

Totally unnecessary building ruining beautiful old trees in the heart of the residential district of Port Royal

Brooke Dean (Port Royal, 2022-07-07)

#264

Preserve the trees. Restore the older buildings and homes that have been left to rot rather than constantly building new.

Jessica Thierry (Beaufort, 2022-07-07)

#266

I live in the low country & we need to preserve the natural beauty of the area.

Tami Taylor (Beaufort , 2022-07-07)

#267

The trees proposed to be cut down are over 200 years old. Port Royal has always prided itself is not allowing legacy trees, even branches, to be cut to accommodate building construction, so why now? Especially as the builder can reconfigure the lots allowing the trees to remain standing.

Angela Williams (Beaufort , 2022-07-07)

#269

The removal of these trees is a crime without a real reason.

Roger McLemore (Beaufort , 2022-07-07)

#270

I want to encourage responsible development in Port Royal and Beaufort.

Ben Sellers (Beaufort, 2022-07-07)

#271

I am a certified arborist and I understand the benefits of trees. Especially old live oaks

Neil Irvin (Port royal , 2022-07-07)

#273

These beautiful trees shouldn't be sacrificed for more housing. The quality of life in our quaint town has been compromised enough.

Deborah Weddington (Port Royal , 2022-07-07)

#276

We’ve lost too many trees of this size and age. Plans can be re-drawn! We have an obligation to protect the beauty of our towns!

Amy Edwards (Beaufort, 2022-07-08)

#277

Port Royal is going to be my retirement town!! So so nice with wonderful people And just a special little town. Save those beautiful trees!!😇

Lisa Lane (Roanoke , 2022-07-08)

#279

need to save trees.

Carole Fouts (Port Royal, 2022-07-08)

#281

I'm a property owner in Beaufort, and I hate to see the precedent set of removing significant wild features only to be replaced by housing. There are other places to build, OR, take a bit less profit for the good of a community.

Holly Martin (Beaufort, 2022-07-09)

#282

These are landmark live oaks and should be preserved, not sacrificed to development. There are other alternatives.

Celeste Prince-Brown (Port Royal, 2022-07-09)

#284

I believe these trees should be saved!

Rebecca Keister (Beaufort, 2022-07-10)

#286

One of the beautiful and unique things about Port Royal are our beautiful oak trees. One of the things I most worry about is overcrowding in our beautiful and unique town. If they are not water oaks, then they should remain. I have seen some very creative things done to work around those magnificent trees! We should continue to promote our stance about our live oaks.

Eileen Newton (Port royal, 2022-07-10)

#288

The removal of grand oak trees does not align with the ordinance meant to protect local values in the face of development.

Caroline Schnell (Charleston, 2022-07-12)

#289

We need more trees and less houses. Land is more than a commodity. We can’t survive without it.

Laura Union (Charleston SC, 2022-07-12)

#292

Live oaks contribute to the character and beauty of Port Royal. They should be preserved for generations to enjoy. Please do not allow these beautiful trees to be cut down.

Christine Dowd (Columbia, 2022-07-12)

#294

I’m signing because it will take years and years to grow a majestic oak like these. Please do. It destroy them.

Arlene Flick (Okatie, 2022-07-12)

#295

I’m signing because the worth of those beautiful trees cannot be measured in dollars and cents. Developers can and should do better.

Dianne McKenzie (Isle of Palms, 2022-07-12)

#296

Do not want to see any Live Oak removed, no matter where it is. Especially ones that have stood the test of time. The Low Country is known for our beautiful trees. We need to protect them, not remove them

Charlotte Waskiewicz (Saint Helena Island, 2022-07-12)

#297

These trees protect so much and keep the low country beautiful

Meghan Fashjian (Charleston , 2022-07-12)

#299

Please do not remove these old, old trees. That is part of the charm of living in South Carolina. To remove them for architecture that will likely be out of date in 20 years doesn’t make much sense.

Cynde Walton (Mount Pleasant, 2022-07-13)

#300

I'm signing because I feel disgusted every time the governing powers sell their soul for the advantage of progress and money.

Mary Lowman (Summerville , 2022-07-13)

#304

It’s the right thing to do!!!

Mike Jones (Port Royal, 2022-07-13)

#306

Live oaks should be protected, they are an important part of culture and are beautiful by incorporating in the design will be a true beauty ecological and aestheticly

Madison Van Caugherty (Charleston , 2022-07-13)

#308

Enough of the beauty & history of our towns has been destroyed for modern developments & money. If we keep it up there will be nothing left that makes us who we are & why people love us.

Stephanie Salley (Summerville, 2022-07-13)

#313

Trees as majestic as these are not only unbelievably significant to the historic built environment, they are also vital to local ecosystems. In a time where our environment is more threatened than ever, opt please, to keep not only this tree, but others like it. To stand under the branches of a 200 year old oak tree is truly a humbling experience.

Caitlin Mee (Macon, 2022-07-13)

#314

Why cut the trees down. Your development will be hideous and grotesque. Appreciate nature because it will always be better than any half baked, ugly, pathetic, and cheap development project. How dare you.

Hannah Sanders (Charleston, 2022-07-13)

#317

It seems reasonable the developers can incorporate the oaks into their design

Kathi Lacy (Columbia, 2022-07-13)

#318

I’ve moved from Charleston and I’ve seen developers get variances on grand trees. We had increased flooding and poor drainage because of it. Please stand up to developers in Port Royal and Beaufort County.

Kathryn Parks (Beaufort , 2022-07-13)

#324

The Live Oaks are what make Port Royal beautiful and unique. We need to protect them.

Jaime Huffman (Beaufort , 2022-07-13)

#327

I am an economist with a specialty in environmental economics at Francis Marion University in Florence, but I am also a property owner in the lowcountry. The pace at which we are removing trees for immediate economic benefit is worrisome. It is critical to consider the long term costs of these decisions. These costs include not only decreasing visual benefits of these beautiful trees, but the erosion and flooding issues that are created. Please consider maintaining these protective measures for these trees - for the benefit of us all.

Caroliniana Padgett (Florence , 2022-07-13)

#336

I grew up in the Lowcountry and believe theses amazing oaks need protecting. They are priceless and irreplaceable.

Brooke Lintern (Marshchapel, 2022-07-14)

#337

I think that I shall never see, a poem as lovely as a tree.

Bridget Clary (Beaufort, 2022-07-14)

#338

Landmark live oak trees are rare and important both ecologically and culturally. Any pending development should respect the history and importance to the environment around them.

Josey Cline (Columbia, 2022-07-14)

#344

I value all Live Oak Trees in our Low Country Town and Villages. The natural asthetics on that stretch of 12th Street will be greatly diminished by the removal of those trees. Developer should be strongly encouraged to work with the property instead of razing and butchering the natural beauty that currently exists. If this means, building fewer homes...the so be it. This should have been a consideration when he purchased the land.

Jennifer Sattler (Beaufort, 2022-07-16)

#345

I’m signing because you can work around these trees. Prioritize the right things please.

Brittany Nicholson (Charleston , 2022-07-16)

#346

The trees were there first leave them alone. This is terrible!!

Christine Jurgovan (Beaufort, 2022-07-17)

#347

These trees cannot be replaced.

Kathy Campbell (Aiken, 2022-07-17)

#349

The live oaks are part of what makes the lowcountry so beautiful and they are iconic.

Jessica Epley (Murrells Inlet, 2022-07-20)

#351

i don’t get ‘home’ as often as i would like but when i do this area is within biking distance of the house i grew up in and my parents still live in. please preserve the trees that are such a large part of my coming home experience. thank you.

alison wood (port townsend , 2022-07-23)

#354

I want to save the beautiful trees that are there now

Olivia Achor (Port Royal , 2022-08-09)

#355

We are losing too many trees to development. These old live oaks can not be replaced by planting new saplings.

Pamela Brooks (Mt Pleasant, 2022-08-10)

#356

There is NO need to cut either tree, except for GREED!

Thomas O'Brien (Beaufort, 2022-08-11)

#357

Preserve the landmark trees. They are not replaceable in our lifetime.

Sherri DeFoor (BEAUFORT, 2022-08-11)

#359

I want to stop taking all the trees down future generations need them

Windy Faison (Beaufort, 2022-08-12)
