For Suffolk County Council to develop an in-house bid for Suffolk Highways maintenance

#805

Common sense needs to apply here. Time to bring this in house to control over inflated prices

Stuart Hopkins (Rattlesden Bury St Edmunds, 2022-11-03)

#806

‘In House’ should be the only way to go, outsourcing seems to be another word for ‘Fleecing’ it happens too often to be a coincidence

Lorna Parrett (Ipswich, 2022-11-03)

#807

With the impending squeeze coming to public spending, it would be outrageous to continue to spend these obscene inflated amounts.
At the very least an exercise to confirm this is going to deliver the best value for the tax payer must be undertaken.

David Palmer (Stowmarket, 2022-11-03)

#808

I absolutely agree. The council has a duty of care to employ local people and use the council tax they receive prudently. Every penny counts

Patricia Cole (Stowmarket, 2022-11-03)

#812

It’s been a myth from day one that outsourcing work is cheaper than using in-house expertise. Clearly any commercial company tendering has to make a profit for shareholders which will always make the work more expensive than non-profit making in-house teams.

Ian Andrews (Stowmarket , 2022-11-03)

#815

In house may well be more cost effective, for us, the electorate.

Ian Osborne (Stowmarket , 2022-11-03)

#816

Those charges are grotesque, dreadful waste of public money when councils are so hard-pressed.

Sarah Jenkinson (Beccles, 2022-11-03)

#826

A well managed in house maintenance department will be cheaper (no profit required) plus they will be wholly dedicated to Council work. The only issue will be who does the tender and what data they use.

David Bicknell (Bury St Edmunds, 2022-11-03)

#828

I’m signing because I think Kier are charging too much for highways repairs and that SCC should delay retendering until a fully costed in house bid can be provided as a benchmark price

Julie Taylor (Stowmarket , 2022-11-03)

#830

I’m signing because I want Suffolk County Council to take back control of providing these services in house. To save tax payers money and provide a timely, efficient service to the county.

Rachel Leech (Wetheringsett , 2022-11-04)

#834

I believe the Suffolk County Council need to put a fully costed in-house bud for highways maintenance.

Sue Garrad (Bury st Edmunds, 2022-11-04)

#837

I dont like to see public money wasted and think SCC would be more sensible to put a tender in as they ought to be able to do smaller jobs for much less, or if not ensure the contract they take on is value for money.

Julie Hart (Bury St Edmunds, 2022-11-04)

#838

If you could save money this could be spent somewhere else. The maintenance jobs being done that I see around Stowmarket are not been done efficiently.

Wendy Faulkner (Stowmarket, 2022-11-04)

#840

Economies are very important. There are a lot of services to pay for

Andrew Hewing (Ipswich, 2022-11-04)

#841

I have first hand experience of the difference between SCC Highways and Kier and the first was much more efficient with less money wasted

sue cuthbert (Mendlesham, 2022-11-04)

#843

I believe best value means all options should be considered.

Tracy Henderson (Ipswich, 2022-11-04)

#853

The costs quoted in the petition are ridiculous! Surely there is scope for savings to a budget that is under extreme pressure?

Alaric Cundy (Stowmarket, 2022-11-04)

#856

Costs need to be reduced in every area in this present climate

Sue Osborn (Ipswich, 2022-11-04)

#857

A true comparison between public and private options is needed before any proper judgment of tendered costs can be made.

Mark Double (Stowmarket , 2022-11-04)

#858

Councils, along with this government, are in the pockets of big business. And we all suffer.
Time for revolution.

M Jones (Bury st edmunds, 2022-11-04)

#860

Costs…

Mark Shanks (Bury st edmunds , 2022-11-04)

#861

I live in Suffolk, Kier are ripping us off and the Council need to do something about it

Sarah Smith (Suffolk, 2022-11-04)

#869

I am signing because it is disgusting that a profit is made out of running a public service

Marc James (Felixstowe , 2022-11-04)

#873

Its common sense to do as much of the work on house and not be at the mercy of greedy national companies. The prices highlighted seem quite ridiculous!

Emma Yeldham (Woolpit , 2022-11-04)

#875

I do not believe that the current situation represents good value for money and is need of more oversight. An in house cost bid should be made

Leslie King (Elmswell, 2022-11-04)

#876

I'm signing because Kier do not offer the residents of Suffolk value for money. We, the tax paying residents, need our Councillors to
1-examin options
2-offer an 'in house,' costed bid for any & all works, currently undertaken by Kier
3-help reduce the financial burden on us all

Deborah King (Elmswell, 2022-11-04)

#881

Costs are out of proportion with the work involved.

Return to reality please

Steve Graham (Ipswich, 2022-11-04)

#891

Kier prices are not competitive and they take too long to action potholes. They have provided falsified documents when asked for evidence on when potholes have been inspected.

Paul Smih (Bury st Edmunds, 2022-11-05)

#898

It is outrageous pricing clearly tantamount to theft of council funds.

Peter Osborne (Stowmarket, Suffolk., 2022-11-05)

#901

Sick of rip off britain.

Laurence Francis (STOWMARKET, 2022-11-05)

#902

I'm sick of holes in road and they are a danger to motorcyclists. Get a proper quote in-house and see what outsourcing can come up with

Stuart Hambridge (Coddenham , 2022-11-05)

#903

I'm signing this because i want our roads to be safe and well maintained and if the work was done in house instead of paying external contractors large sums as alleged, more could be done with the available funds.

Robert Pratt (Stowmarket , 2022-11-05)

#907

The prices charged by Kier are scandalous and a huge waste of public money. This has been the case since Kier first started the contract - I know this because I worked for SCC Highways dept until 2020.

Glyn French (Haughley, Stowmarket, 2022-11-05)

#910

Due to Double yellow lines being put right outside my Home after 30 years living here .we now have difficulty parking and being constantly Harrased by parking warden .
Looked into help with Drop curbs .
Way way out of are reach .
Something must change .
We

Angie Burch (Suffolk , 2022-11-06)

#912

I am fed up with the state of our roads and the current contract is more about money than public safety! Local council needs to take back the authority to fix our roads at a better cost to the tax payers

Emma Catchpole (Bacton , 2022-11-06)

#917

I want to see a critical qualified assessment of infrastructure costs and charges accompanied by an in-house bid comparison for any infrastructure contracts

Charles Crew (BURY ST. EDMUNDS, 2022-11-06)

#920

It’s too expensive!!!

Cathy Wecke (Newmarket , 2022-11-07)

#922

Because the charges are outrageous.

John Gordon (Bury Saint Edmunds, 2022-11-07)

#924

Absolutely ridiculous situation 🙄

Lorraine Spence (Brockford , 2022-11-07)

#926

Kier
A wasted a
Of time and money

John Mason (Stowmarket, 2022-11-08)

#933

My grandfather came from Blaxhall and left for better prosperities for his family. I visited Suffolk recently and was astounded by it beauty but upset that some places were run down needing TLC. Money should be used wisely and for everyone benefits

Peta Bolton (Brighouse , 2022-11-17)

#934

SCC's loss of financial control and unaccountable to ratepayers.

DAVID MATHEWS (Stowupland, 2022-11-23)

#936

I do not like to see MY and other taxpayers' money being squandered. I remember the days when maintenance work was carried out 'in-house' and the 'Clerk of the Works' inspected the work that had been carried out to see if it was 'up-to-scratch' ! Bring those days back forthwith!

I. Smith (Bury St Edmunds, 2022-12-14)

#938

The state of our roads are abhorrent. The way money is dealt with within councils is abhorrent. The way the government feed the councils is also abhorrent. If you have to waste and spend all your money in a year to keep getting funding, how can you run a business like that. You just waste money year after year rather than accumulating it to use it for bigger jobs. We don’t want ridiculous flower boxes and statues or ornate paraphernalia in towns and villages( just to use the money up) we want safe, comfortable and long lasting roads and pavements. STOP WASTING OUR HARD EARNING MONEY
