The 2021 Mull Rally

#204

The proposed changes to the rally would take away a lot of what makes the Mull Rally/Tour of Mull the best rally in the world.

Robin Nicolson (Largs, 2020-12-28)

#205

The event us unique in its current format & should retain this as much as possible. Its 1 of the main appeals for doing it

Gaz Carless (Crewe , 2020-12-28)

#206

Been going to mull rally/tour of mull since 1984 only missed going maybe 3 or 4 times and like the rally in its current form so I support this petition for no change cheers.

Ronald Dunsmore (Airdrie , 2020-12-28)

#207

I feel that the proposed 2 leg mull rally is not in keeping with the history of the rally and it should stay as previous year's.

Andrew Smith (North Yorkshire , 2020-12-28)

#209

Such an iconic rally that thrives of 3 long tough legs with the majority at night time. This spectical is what attracts most club men to such an event. This event will not benefit from such change

Ryan Loughran (Cookstown, 2020-12-28)

#212

The current format is what attracts competitors ,spectators, marshals old and new.
I am not averse to small changes to enhance the current format.

Neil Morgan (Congleton , 2020-12-28)

#213

It’s an event I have watched, serviced on, marshalled and competed on once and want to again in its current schedule as it’s part of what makes it unique.

Andy Davison (Middlesbrough , 2020-12-28)

#215

I’m a long term competitor, spectator and volunteer. I believe mull should retain its identity and unique appeal.

Neil Thompson (Chirnside, 2020-12-28)

#218

I love the unique character of Mull, with its large, diverse and characterful entry list.

I compete in other tarmac rallies in the UK but Mull is always a highlight of our calendar. Its multi-leg format and its extensive use of night stages is a unique challenge.

I don’t want to see Mull’s character diluted and degraded with these needless and retrograde changes.

I perceive that the proposed changes will benefit the organisers and perhaps the RAC but will harm the islanders, the grass roots competitors and the diversity of the sport.

John Clark (Stoke on Trent, 2020-12-28)

#223

I'm signing because the Mull Rally is unique in the world and is over subscribed every year, so cannot understand why the changes have been suggested. Leave it unique please!

Adam Campbell (Kirkbymoorside, 2020-12-28)

#224

As a long standing Marshal on many events throughout the U.K and specifically the Mull Rally over a number of years I’m opposed to the suggested new format.
Mull is a unique event and should stand out from “the crowd”:as it has done since inception.
The proposed new format could be less demanding for both competitors, officials and marshals alike. Part of the attraction for years has been the antisocial hours, the intensity of the event and the camaraderie of all involved including the resident islanders.
It seems that should Mull be included in the BRC the format for ALL involved must change removing the uniqueness of the event and to some degree sanitising it so t blends in with all other events - A SAD TIME for all regular attendees.
As with some other events throughout the world the event will become either a “daylight” event run from 09:00 - 17:00 purely to placate the H & S rules and regs which takes the adventure away from all!!
Please rethink your proposals dear organisers.
Many thanks.

Phil Rees (Otley, 2020-12-28)

#226

Born and bred on the isle of mull and making it a two event will destroy the history of the event!!

Grant Williams (Manchester , 2020-12-29)

#229

Why change something that is not broken?

Charlie Gabb (York, 2020-12-29)

#231

I feel that the proposed 2leg, repetitive daylight competition will spoil the whole concept of the Mull Rally. The existing rally us unique

Rose Rayner (York, 2020-12-29)

#233

I have only missed 8 Mulls since 1984.
Only spectated twice.
Competed 4 times
Serviced or Marshaled the rest.

ian tunney (Isle of Man, 2020-12-29)

#237

I do not agree with the proposals to run a 2 leg daylight format of the Rally, The usual format is excellent and always attracts a full entry . If it ain't broke don't try and fix it.

Paul Hudson (Darlington, 2020-12-29)

#241

This rally is an exceptional event and should remain so.

Phil Wright (Dewsbury, 2020-12-29)

#245

I think the format should stay as it is, to preserve the uniqueness of the event

John Deegan (Bacup, 2020-12-29)

#250

The very esscence of the Mull Rally is its unique challenge of the night stages. As both a competitor and marshal i would not want the rally to lose that

Peter Grant (Gateshead, 2020-12-29)

#252

I'm signing this petition as we love this rally and want to keep it as original as possible

Robert Cairney (Stirling , 2020-12-29)

#256

This is The Best Rally in the world and if you change it you will lose this title. It’ll become just another Vanilla rally spoilt like the rest.

Neil Colls (Yarm, 2020-12-29)

#258

The new format takes away unique features of the event and is disruptive to the islanders.

Sue Hynd (Inverbervie , 2020-12-29)

#260

There is no reason to change a format that’s worked for years and years. The organising committee hasn’t even came out and put forward a proposed plan! Rallying and communication is key !

Cameron Dunn (Motherwell, 2020-12-29)

#261

If it’s not broken don’t fix it!

Chris Robertson (Kilmichael , 2020-12-29)

#268

Relatively new come to Mull Rally, 6 years. From what i have experienced and heard from the long timers, the current format works well for competitors, marshalls and locals alike. Keep it as it is, feel having two day events isn't practical, especially for local residents and doesn't give the Challenge of the night stages, which loved or loathed by the competitor, is all part of Mull Rally.

Jacqueline Parkinson (Preston , 2020-12-29)

#270

Believe in keeping night Stages, it's what Mull is about

Ian Swallow (Chorley, 2020-12-29)

#272

I sign this petition because the mull rally is the best rally in the world and it fills its entry in record time every year I'm a recent regular in the event the whole week is more than just a rally it's and amazing social event and because it's a special 1 off event it has the best atmosphere every year. I believe bringing the BRC to the event will destroy it just like it did to the Manx and to the Jim Clark. Also mull being at the end of the year means there will more than likely be very few BRC registered crews still competing it happens every year so why should next year he any different. I strongly appose against the changes

Tony Edwards (Bardney, 2020-12-29)

#275

Why change a formula that works?

Tony Johnston (Wigan, 2020-12-30)

#277

I love the Mull Rally in the format as it is. It works, so why change it?

Linzie Peddie (Hawick, 2020-12-30)

#279

I think the night time section should be kept as if offers a greater challenge to all competitors and it forms and integral part of the history of the rally

Andrew Jones (Llangollen, 2020-12-30)

#280

Famous clubman event being hijacked by big money organisers to the detriment of local population of the island and club drivers and teams.

Tim Storrar (Cheltenham , 2020-12-30)

#281

It must be one of the best events in the world why change it?

Tony Shields (Brighouse, 2020-12-30)

#287

as a service crew members on Mull for 23yrs, I believe the Friday and Saturday night stages are what makes the Mull rally the special event it is.

Gary Campbell (Balmullo, 2020-12-30)

#288

The Mull rally shouldn’t be changed, keep the format as is

Neil Prior (Newcastle, 2020-12-30)

#289

Against the proposed new route

Judith Pirie (Warrington, 2020-12-31)

#290

I see no need to ruin ‘the best rally in the world’ for the sake of fashion. When it’s been watered down to a shadow of its former self, it will never return!

Mike Storrar (Warrington, 2020-12-31)

#292

The format that is being proposed for the rally is not fit for purpose. I am from Mull but stay on the mainland now and on occasions I can’t make it over for the Friday night , but I manage the Saturday afternoon and night. With the new proposals this would not happen. It would loose the island a lot of revenue because a lot of people come over for the Saturday. I have had a lot of great times over the years and met a lot of very interesting people the new format would stop this also a lot of people would not come over for the Friday and Saturday daytime it would just be a waste of time. Don’t you organisers realise this is a very social event. If you don’t understand the rally and the people spectators and crew then maybe you should stand down and leave it to the people that care about the rally and the people of Mull. If you have any difficulties in what I am saying please get in touch. Keep the Mull rally as is this is an unique rally. The best we rally in the world.

Ali Russell (Fort William , 2020-12-31)

#293

I want the rally to carry on as it has always been.

Brian Hooley (Macclesfield , 2020-12-31)

#295

I want to do one last mull in the old format.

Paul Rusted (Bedworth, 2020-12-31)

#296

I have attended the rally for many years & can't see any reason to change a fantastic format ! It would not be the same without the nighttime stages !

Martin Boyle (Preston , 2020-12-31)

#297

Fantastic night time rally that has been goi g for years.

Julie Egglestone (Appleby, 2020-12-31)

#300

Much as I like the 3 leg format I don’t mind some level of change (the format has changed a few times already over the past 50 years) but I think this is too big a change and too much daylight / too little at night.

Kevin MacIver (Cruden Bay , 2020-12-31)

#301

One of the best events in the UK just the way it should be.

Steve Southall (Chester , 2020-12-31)

#307

The rally isn’t broken so it doesn’t need fixing! The lure is the challenge of “The best rally in the world” always has been and always should be.

Chris Pedley (Manchester , 2020-12-31)

#308

As Chief Marshal for 10 years I care for the future of the Rally I think this is a step back.

Simon Bibby (Blackburn, 2021-01-01)

#309

I'm signing because what difference does another loop make apart from more fun? Make the Mull rally great again.

Alison cairney (stirling, 2021-01-01)

#311

This would be a step in the wrong direction for this event. What is the question that has been raised, that generates this answer ? I don’t believe there is one.

Mark Craine (Chepstow, 2021-01-01)

#312

The mull rally is fine the way it is .

Dave Rayworth (Chesterfield , 2021-01-01)

#314

Feel the proposed changes are to drastic a change from traditional format. Change isn't always a bad thing if there is a need or a benefit in doing so.
From what has been put forward I personally can't see the requirement to alter the current format.

Alan Noble (Salen, 2021-01-01)

#315

I believe the event has a unique status in UK rallying folklore that should be maintained for the future in its unique format, if it changes it just becomes another closed road event that I'm sure would cause its demise as an event and with the resulting loss off income to the Island Of Mull

Nigel Bailey (Stoke On Trent, 2021-01-01)

#316

If it isn’t broke don’t fix it

Ben Hallas (Huddersfield, 2021-01-01)

#318

The challenge of the existing format is what had and will continue to make the Mull rally a unique event.

murdo morrison (Aberfeldy, 2021-01-02)

#321

Don't ruin this rally.

Stefan Taylor (Norwich, 2021-01-02)

#323

As a resident on Mull for over 40 years and watched the Rally every year why change what has worked so well all these years

Elizabeth MacKenzie (Isle of Mull, 2021-01-03)

#325

Don’t ruin a legendary rally

Elliot Smith (Wakefield, 2021-01-03)

#326

I’m signing this because the rally of mull is a fantastic event as it stands !
Please do not change its layout

Matthew Curtis (Doncaster , 2021-01-03)

#328

I’m a competitor and the format in which the rally normally runs is what appeal to me and the rest of the team, I do not believe anyone who has competed as a clubman would ever welcome the change it works fine no need for a fix

Mark Booth (Worksop , 2021-01-03)

#332

I believe the Rally in its current format is unique both in setting and challenges and to change it would be a huge detriment to the Islanders and the Motor Sport Family.

Nigel Mac Mahon (Skipton , 2021-01-03)

#336

Having been involved in some shape or form since 1995, I feel any change to the tried and tested format would be bad for the rally and the very tolerant Mull community. Do not pander to, or change the event to accommodate any championships wishes.

Paul blackburn (Alfreton, 2021-01-04)

#338

I believe the Gardians of the Mull rally are miss guided in there decisions to alter the format of the rally and this will ultimately lead to the downfall of one the most successful rallies of all time, if it’s not broken don’t try and fix it!!!!

Gary Dawes (Burnley , 2021-01-04)

#341

This will remove the unique nature of the event which draws crews to the challenge, if put through it will just be another event which is at the wrong end of the event calendar year which will result in poor attendance and ultimately the death of the event.

Douglas Ingram (Oban, 2021-01-05)

#343

Mull is renowned for its night stages, the atmosphere is unique for competitors, marshals and spectators alike. I think the proposed change will have a negative economic impact on the community that welcomes us whole heartedly every year.

Adam Booth (Congleton, 2021-01-05)

#348

I don't think the format of this fantastic rally should be changed it would ruin it for competitors and spectators alike

Lynne Rigby (Shropshire , 2021-01-06)

#350

The existing format is what competitors want as proven with its many full entries in previous years, why sterilise the event for BRC? Leave well alone.

Maurice Leach (Telford, 2021-01-07)

#351

I believe this rally thrives on being unique

Andy Gray (Chesterfield, 2021-01-07)

#352

Mull Rally is the greatest rally in the UK! It would ruin the tradition and spirit of the rally by changing the event.

James Squires (Chorley, 2021-01-08)

#353

The rally is perfect the way it is don’t mess with a unique event and definitely don’t let the BRC come and ruin the event like they have with so many others if they want to come and do mull they should do it as it has been run for the last 50 years

Kevin Charles (Workington , 2021-01-08)

#356

Why change something that has been very successful for many years and if they do change it ,it will surely inconvenience the locals a lot more ,the island must be able to function as much as it can when rally is on

Duncan Mckechnie (D, 2021-01-09)

#364

As far as I can go back it's always been night rallying and been the best in the world

Tommy Brown (Ayrshire , 2021-01-11)

#368

This is the Best Rally in the UK

Graham S Darcy (Bolton, 2021-01-11)

#370

Mull is known for the night stages and if it was mostly in daylight it would be like any other tarmac rally and it def is different in its normal mostly night format.

Allan Macdougall (Isle of Gigha, 2021-01-11)

#371

This rally has a proven format that has worked well in the past.

Tim Senior (Huddersfield , 2021-01-11)

#372

I’m signing it because it is so unique that it shouldn’t change

Andy Sutherland (Aberdeen, 2021-01-11)

#376

It needs to stay as it is as it works

Alex Lund (York, 2021-01-11)

#377

My family have participated for years and it's always ran very well. It's an amazing rally as it is and doesn't need the changes. It will completely ruin the rally and what makes it different

Gemma Blankley (Bubwith, 2021-01-11)

#380

I am signing because I have been coming to the mull rally for over 40 years and my parents before me. It draws us because of the diversity of stages, access and the uniqueness of that of any other rally in the world. You have something very special and knowing how oversubscribed it is every year a lot of other people appreciate it too.
Please don’t destroy it, you only have to look at what use to be the uk rac rally which is now rally Wales to see how it has been destroyed for fans and rally enthusiasts and is only open now to the rich and elite.

Helen Carruthers (Skipton, 2021-01-11)

#385

Mull rally , is the original challenge for rally club competitors. It has a unique charm which is known and loved to all involved.

Steve Hallmark (Liverpool , 2021-01-11)

#388

I would like the rally to stay the way it is

Steven Alexander (Perthshire , 2021-01-11)

#391

Mull without a night section is not the Mull Rally we know and love. Every action has consequences - down the line these changes, if pursued, will be detrimental to the island and its economy
