Why did someone think this was a good idea? Move it somewhere else, far away from people and these poor animals.

The untold terror and harm which this firework display would cause to animals and vulnerable people (all those who have no idea why they are being subjected to terrifying hours of bombardment) far outweighs any trivial pleasure that the display would give. Why are we so selfish? Don't we have enough entertainments? Fireworks nowadays are from from the benign, mostly visual displays of even 20 years ago. They are more akin to being in a warzone. My dogs won't leave the house once they start to hear the distant ear splitting booms which begin mid October and seem to go on every day , mindlessly let off in daytime, randomly late at night - it makes every planned walk impossible. And I can't imagine the visceral fear that these explosions bring to innocent creatures, driving them to run into hazards and danger. Ban it all. It's just not worth it. Why are we trying to reproduce what are essentially battlefield experiences - I can literally feel the explosions in my ribcage and so can everything in the vicinity. And it goes on and on for hours, monotonously loud explosions with nothing much to differentiate them, - please explain the attraction . I just don't get it. If we can't bring ourselves to return to better displays (I think of the Queen's Golden Jubilee glorious fireworks as the most wonderful marvellous thing - and no one's eardrums got assaulted) then just forget it. Drop it. No one these days has the slightest idea what historical event they are 'commemorating' on 5th November anyway, which goes a long way to understanding why people have no problem letting them off at random throughout October, into November and for weeks after. It's not worth it. Please think again. I wouldn't attend such an event if you paid me. I don't want to support something that could potentially cause so much damage and cruel distress. And don't forget there are plenty of people. who also find the fireworks 'season' an endurance test. It spoils everything. They can't rest or relax not knowing when the next sonic boom is going to disturb their peace. They cower indoors, prisoners of someone's selfishness. It has mutated into a festival of idiocy, and every year so many people are injured from fireworks that are more like bombs or daisycutters than a harmless spectacle of colour and light. Please please reconsider. One horse driven to run into a fence and rip its guts open, cattle in agony in ditches, one cat run over as it flees into the road, one dog missing forever as it breaks free and escapes in blind panic ....any single one of these is far too high a price to pay for a moment's 'thrill', if that's what people get out of it. But you can be sure that if this display went ahead, all of those things, and much more unseen but cruel distress and injury will undoubtedly be happening while the onlookers get their moment of 'ooh and ah'. The crowd will be cheering but the creatures and the vulnerable will be screaming in pain and fear, somewhere out in the dark, in fields and woods, or in lonely rooms with televisions at full blast that still can't drown out the hours of explosions. Think about it. Think again. Please.

I'm signing because firework displays need to have proper planning permission & be sited where they cause no danger or disturbance to others including animals.

Alison Frend (HITCHIN, 2020-10-22)

#4821

This can easily be solved animals or people should not be traumatised by fireworks.

Darren Kiggins (SS0 8DU, 2020-10-22)

#4822

I’m in support of preventing the Weeley firework display.
With so many Livestock and animals nearby, this event should not go ahead for the health and we’ll being off the poor animals.
It would be awfully distressing and unfair to subject them to this.

Hayley Jane (Midlands , 2020-10-22)

#4825

I'm sure there is a more appropriate site than this where vulnerable people and animals will be highly affected! It's just not right!!

Tina Leedham (NUNEATON, 2020-10-22)

#4826

I have personal experience that many animals are injured as a consequence of fireworks in close proximity.

Keith Morris (Nottingham , 2020-10-22)

#4828

Animals need to be protected. Fireworks are terrifying for them and cause unimaginable problems and stress.

Deirdre Paterson (London, 2020-10-22)

#4833

Is it really necessary. With today’s issues is it safe to hold event and care should be taken with animals close by. Does this not fall under and H&S issue not just for animals but the people that have to care for them!!

Karen Slater (Benfleet , 2020-10-22)

#4836

Fireworks and their dreadful, loud bangs and other shrieking sounds cause a great deal of stress and fear to pets, wildlife and livestock. Hedgehogs are often burned to death as they nest in the bonfires at these events.
There are plenty of other ways for people to entertain themselves without causing such terrible suffering.

Hayley C (Twyford , 2020-10-22)

#4839

I care for animals whose welfare must come before the selfish interests of humans who could take their pleasure elsewhere.

Keith Day (Cambridge, 2020-10-22)

#4843

Firework displays should never take place in locations where agricultural livestock will be vulnerable to harm through disturbance. A more suitable and sensible location needs to be found.

Adrian Taylor (Carlisle, 2020-10-22)

#4849

Firework displays are cruel to animals and many people.

Diane McMurray (Portadown, 2020-10-22)

#4852

Animals should not be subjected to fireworks they are terrifying it’s about time they were banned altogether unless they are silent

susan philip (Trowbridge , 2020-10-22)

#4853

Fireworks are v
ery frightening for animals. Any arranged display should take animals into consideration. It makes no sense near farms and livestock. In fact is any display necessary?

Kathryn Stone (Stowmarket, 2020-10-22)

#4855

We have 10 days of hell around this time of year. Our dog shakes for hours and hyper ventilates. Stop shops selling fireworks. We could cope with one or two organised events by tranquillising her earlier.

Jill McNamee (Wallasey, 2020-10-22)

#4859

Fireworks have disruptive and upsetting effect on the elderly, wildlife and domestic animals.

Janet Cluer (Chislehurst, 2020-10-22)

#4860

Fireworks are pointless and have a disruptive and upsetting effect on wildlife and domestic animals.

Richard Cluer (Chislehurst, 2020-10-22)

#4864

The firework display is too near animals eg horses and two nights shows a blatant disregard for welfare.A popular annual display by The Round Table in the village of Eaglesham near Glasgow was cancelled and not repeated years ago for this very reason. It was well received as people understood that it us done for this reason.

Ann Wood (Ardentinny, 2020-10-22)

#4868

I believe that firework displays should be subject to licensing to ensure full and proper risk assessments are made prior to a firework display.
My understanding of the proposed location at Wesley Boot Field indicates that it is not an appropriate site.

Jane Irving (Kilmarnock, 2020-10-22)

#4869

My dog is terrified of fireworks, the noise is horrendous, many animals are also terrified of the dreadful noise they make and suffer for days because of them!

Kathryn Melling (Manchester, 2020-10-22)

#4870

Fireworks must not be allowed near animals or residential housing where they are a problem for local people and animals.

Linda Gunnell (LONDON, 2020-10-22)

#4882

I cannot believe that all the poverty that there is , that people will be wasting money and the harm that it does to all the animals, we are ruining the world as it is , so is it REALLY necessary 😡

Adele Perks (Leicester , 2020-10-23)

#4883

Animals suffer enough around Bonfire night without an event being held in the vicinity of farms and livestock housing, never mind the usual domestic pets.

Hilary Holt (Kettering, 2020-10-23)

#4890

Modern fireworks are far too loud and pollute the environment for minimal gain. Turn off the street lights and look up at the stars for a real treat.

Richard Rawcliffe (Cheltenham, 2020-10-23)

#4892

Location location location- try a better one !!

Cheryl Kirkhope (Dorset , 2020-10-23)

Fireworks are all about loud bangs and frighten not only domesticated but wildlife too. Its time this is stopped

Heather Kemp (Bedale, 2020-10-23)

#4897

Fireworks frighten me. What about birds, and the chemicals they give out all over the world? They should be banned.

Lorna Phillips (Margate, 2020-10-23)

#4902

No animals should be subject to Fireworks at any time it’s disgusting and abusive, it must be stopped.

Ann Hartley (Burnley, 2020-10-23)

It's totally irresponsible and unacceptable..

Ian Parker (Preston, 2020-10-23)

Lesley Young (Nr Rotherham , 2020-10-23)

My dog is a nervous wreck because of fireworks

Julie Deering (Castleford, 2020-10-23)

#4909

I do not believe the total disregard shown by the people of this country for the animals who will be frightened by this.

Andrew Duggan (Margate, 2020-10-23)

#4917

Fireworks should be banned completely

Karen Chapman (Maldon, 2020-10-23)

#4921

Fireworks causes huge and long lasting stress and sometimes even death to animals around. It should only be licensed for appropriate venues and for very limited time. It should not be a freedom to cause so much stress and inconvenience to others.

Carolyn Davies (Norwich, 2020-10-23)

#4923

Dont agree with fireworks near animals.

Lynn Tappin (Colchester, 2020-10-23)

#4927

Loud fireworks let off near livestock, horses and vulnerable people are cruel and irresponsible. Just do the display somewhere else.

Jo Davies (Saffron Walden, 2020-10-23)

#4929

I’m concerned for the safety and well-being Of the animals in the vicinity.

Deborah Rosenheck (Presron, 2020-10-23)

#4930

Fireworks are outdated and outmoded and show no regard for the vulnerable in our society and all other species - stop this mindless selfishness NOW!

Peter Harvey (Newcastle, 2020-10-23)

#4934

Animals are more distressed by fireworks than we realise. We have to respect the place of animals in the world. Banning fireworks is a small price to pay.

Eleanor Udall (London , 2020-10-23)

#4939

My dog is physically ill because of being so scared of fireworks.

Sharon Mcloughlin (Leeds, 2020-10-23)

#4941

Too many animals are frightened by fireworks to justify their use. Terrifying other creatures for a few moments of pretty colours is wrong.

Caroline Bray (London, 2020-10-23)

#4944

I work with people suffering from PTSD and fireworks (noise, light flashes) are frequently a trigger for them feeling anxious and overwhelmed.

Mary Gavin (Cardiff, 2020-10-23)

#4945

I've got to say I hate the word LIVE STOCK. It really forces the idea that farmed animals should only been seen as stock. They are animals not stock. Farmed animals share the very same needs and emotions as the animals we share our homes with. Pigs are actually smarter than dogs and one of the smartest animals in the world. When they are murdered they are called meat. Why not dead stock? I say no to speciesism

Gina Donoghue (Letterston , 2020-10-23)

#4950

I am disgusted by this annual waste of money and the cost, let alone the pollution and deaths which occur throughout our planet .................ban all fireworks!!

j Vernon (LANCASTER, 2020-10-23)

#4952

I'm signing because if you have ever seen an animal shaking and whining in fear and then can't stop shaking , you would know that silent fireworks are the only way to go.

Sarah Hay (Nantwich, 2020-10-23)

#4954

If you could see the state my dog gets in at Firework season, you would ban fireworks all together! The vet has her on Valium, and still she trembles sweats paces and cries for hours.

Linda Stoddart (Glasgow, 2020-10-23)

#4955

It’s getting way out of hand

Maureen Bareham (Braintree, 2020-10-23)

#4957

these fireworks are totally unnecessary and its illegal to set them off so close to livestock. How this is being allowed to continue is beyond me!

Natalia Di Pietro (Farnborough, 2020-10-23)

#4959

There is nothing to celebrate, so why the fireworks? Fireworks cause pollution and are a danger to people and animals. In a time when people need to be able to breath you will be causing throat nose and lung congestion

Kerry Price (london, 2020-10-23)

#4962

I don’t think fireworks should be let off where animals may be traumatised.

Lynne Michaels (Oxford, 2020-10-23)

#4963

Livestock will be terrified by the persistent loud bangs and could well get physically hurt in their panic. It is very likely that they will be traumatised.

Anna Cheesman (Benfleet , 2020-10-23)

#4967

Fireworks are not fun for animals. I enjoy the beauty of the display but not the sound.

Susan Curry (Elizabethtown , 2020-10-23)

#4968

Safety, humanity, Respect

Jennifer Cowles (Calgary, Alberta, Canada, 2020-10-23)

#4974

Fireworks are terrifying to animals. Move your fireworks display to a more suitable area.

Paula Scrase (Hertford , 2020-10-23)

#4981

I'm signing because fireworks cause stress and panic amongst the animal kingdom. Plus people with undrlying PTSD and other issues, can become terrorised by the noise and flashes.

David Englishby (Banbury, 2020-10-23)

#4983

I hate them and my two dogs are terrified, the ban is long overdue😡😡

Julie Lowley (Chesterfield, 2020-10-23)

#4993

I live locally and my dogs are terrified of the noise of fireworks they have to have sedation every year

Karen Lee (Manningtree, 2020-10-23)

#4994

I hate fireworks and the damage and trauma they cause to domestic pets, farm animals and wildlife, purely for human entertainment. Ban them now.

Serena Newham (Pulborough, 2020-10-23)

#4995

I have animals and I see what all the noise from fireworks does to them it is truly disgracefull and thoughtless to aLLOW THIS TO HAPPEN IT MUST BE STOPPED.

Sonja Chance (Bristol, 2020-10-23)

#4997

its bad enough one night of fireworks let alone two nights totally thoughtless. Its time to ban these needless moneymaking fireworks which serve no purpose other than frightening people and animals

Liz Ledsham (Neston, 2020-10-23)

#4999

It is absolutely sickening and despicable to subject all of those animals to the most frightening noise from the fireworks

Rose Herrmann (Northborough , 2020-10-23)

#5000

Fireworks are too dangerous to wildlife and pets. My dog was terrified when our village did fireworks last year.
