Having skated for over 20 years and growing up in Eastbourne myself, I can totally appreciate the need for skateparks like Manor Gardens.

The current park area is too concentrated on one side so it does makes sense to extend. I remember when the designs first came out and it was understood that the whole area would be utilised! Nonetheless, we can clearly still see the need as the other section remains completely unused so this is well overdue.

Skateparks are a great place to promote health and wellbeing and so this extension should be viewed as a positive for the community.

I have seen the positive effects first hand that these facilities give young people and the wider community. They offer opportunities not only for improving the physical and mental wellbeing of all who use them, but in particular, an outlet for young people that is healthy and safe. This should be a priority in a time where outdoor space and freedom is becoming more restricted and often lacking. It puts Eastbourne on the map to encourage visitors to enjoy from outside of the town as well as those that live here.

As someone who has used this skatepark often since it’s construction, I feel that it has served us well and deserves and upgrade to utilise the extra space.

Several local skateboarders have progressed considerably and the skatepark is a key part of that progression.

With Skateboarding and BMX in the Olympics this year… we saw how well the UK does with sports of this kind.

I see absolutely no negatives in and expansion ok the park.
