#1001

I would buy tickets for this panto without hesitation- it is a pantomime without rival - I sincerely hope it continues in some form!

Lizzie Butterworth (York, 2020-01-12)

#1002

The theatre royal panto is easily the best out there. No need for celebrities, the truly incredible cast have built up a huge following and generate a massive income for the theatre. I had hoped to be able to take my own children to see the ‘annual rubbish’ in coming years.

Bethany Rowe (Bognor Regis, 2020-01-12)

#1006

I love this panto and don't want to lose it.

Stephen Ainley (Goole, 2020-01-12)

#1009

This panto can not be axed its ludicrous. I've been going for 15 years & people travel from all over the world to see this show

Tracey Wyatt (York, 2020-01-12)

#1010

Stopping the panto is not good.

Florian Gleisner (Saxilby, 2020-01-12)

#1014

This panto is brilliant. As are all the cast, musicians and crew. We travel, a do many others quite a distance to see this and it is always well worth it. We really enjoyed the 2019 show.

Jan Southworth (Stockport, 2020-01-12)

#1015

I think the traditional pantomime at York Theatre Royal should continue because it’s unique. It has given us pleasure for nearly 40 years and we have enjoyed it this year as much as ever.

Christine North (Selby, 2020-01-12)

#1016

I love this panto been every year since I was a baby and I'm now in my 30's and my parents and family for longer x

Rachael Sherwood (York, 2020-01-12)

#1017

Because we have been going to this panto as a family since I was a child, and now continue to go as a larger family- 3 generations! We don’t go to other pantos, this one is truly special and unique and funny for all ages- the effort and work gone into the script and performances surpasses a lot of theatre let alone pantos!

Eleanor Thom (Sheffield , 2020-01-12)

#1020

The best original panto ever.

Gary ARMITAGE (LEEDS , 2020-01-12)

#1024

Because there been pantomime at theatre royal for years and it is worry that there want to axe
I was at fulford cross special school want I went to my pantomime there and let was in the 1980s with my family and I think it is so sad to think we won’t have a pantomime there over Christmas.

Nicola Wall (York, 2020-01-12)

#1026

This pants is a York institution and a tradition for so many people in York .

Kim Robbins (York, 2020-01-12)

#1028

It would be unimaginable to not have a pantomime at the Theatre Royal. Short sighted and ill-informed decision making.

Julie Potts (York , 2020-01-12)

#1029

This panto is an institution!

Clare Galloway (Manchester, 2020-01-12)

#1030

The york panto has been part of my life for 15 years and its the best in the country.

Tina Kidger (York, 2020-01-12)

#1031

The management is so out of touch this is our pantomime our family hands off

Leeann Branton (York, 2020-01-12)

#1033

I remember a similar situation around 30 years ago years ago when the then management replaced the very popular Berwick Kaler panto with The Snow Queen. A disaster. Please remember the old adage 'If it ain't broke don't fix it'.

Ann Wilkins (York , 2020-01-12)

#1038

It is such a great show with Berwick, Suzy and David they are a great team with a brilliant working relationship that only comes after years of working together. This would be impossible to replicate - changing this would ultimately result in loss of ticket sales due to inferior show.

Alyson Horne (Hartley Wintney, 2020-01-12)

#1039

This is the best annual rubbish out there!

Rosie Megginson (Edinburgh, 2020-01-12)

#1044

I absolutely love the Berwick kale Pantomime. It’s all the cast we love to see. Familiar faces, unique jokes. The ad-libbing.
If it wasn’t for Aj, Suzy, Martin etc I’d just go see the grand opera house.

Rachel Mill (York, 2020-01-12)

#1047

I've been watching York panto every year, sibpnce I was small, would hate to see York lose this show. Other pantos are too commercial - not what I want to see.
I moved from York 10 years ago but still travel back each year to come to the Panto.

Jane Dodds (Bedford, 2020-01-12)

#1049

The best panto to ever take to the stage!
The cast are fantastic and are always very entertaining, Christmas would not be the same, without this traditional scripted nonsense!!!!

Chris Oxtoby (Driffield , 2020-01-12)

#1050

i want our panto to stay!!!

Liv Aldo (York, 2020-01-12)

#1051

Even without the brilliant Berwick Kaler, David Leonard and Martin Barrass still do a fantastic job!! The York Theatre Royal Panto with the current cast is irreplaceable!!

Tina Melrose (York, 2020-01-12)

#1052

This cannot happen, this is part of York!! I think it’s appalling

Nina Melrose (York, 2020-01-12)

#1054

Generations of families love this Panto. The cast are brilliant at what they do. The queues in March for the tickets are huge because its loved by so many. To hear its under threat of being axed is upsetting. Its more than just a panto...

Katherine Johnson (York, 2020-01-12)

#1060

Far from axing the show, the theatre should put more money into developing an already successful show.

Stephen Nendick (York, 2020-01-12)

#1061

The Theatre Royal Panto is the main stay of the theatre, Panto is the best on York

Joanne McPherson (York, 2020-01-12)

#1065

The pantomime is part of York’s heritage and is a huge part of lots of local people’s Christmas tradition.

Kerry Simpson (York, 2020-01-12)

#1073

I'm signing for several reasons. I've been to 35 Pantos.
It's a family Panto, with no commercialism
It's a York tourist attractions
Most important it's part of York culture.

Alison Blanchard (Featherstone , 2020-01-12)

#1077

Forty odd years of enjoyment, will leave a big gap with no panto. (even if it is a load of rubbish)

Ian Hotchkies (York, 2020-01-12)

#1078

Our family has been coming to this pantomime for 40 years and it’s totally the best! Why on earth would anyone want to change it?

Patsy griffin (York , 2020-01-12)

#1079

This panto was part of my childhood, and is now part of my son's childhood. I will be heartbroken if the team is shown the door. The Theatre Royal are shooting themselves in the foot, as the audience will follow Martin, David, Suzy and the team to whatever other theatre they choose to go to, and the Theatre Royal will lose out massively.

Sarah Sketchley (York, 2020-01-12)

#1080

I love the panto, great fun, please let Berwick return!

Mary Clatworthy (York, 2020-01-12)

#1082

I love the panto and so do my kids!

Nicola Periam (York, 2020-01-12)

#1084

The pantomime represents the best of York as it has been the bedrock of the community and an essential tradition at Christmas.

Linda Combie (York , 2020-01-12)

#1085

I’m part of York Theatre royal, and can’t bare to see this amazing thing be taken away from us!! :(

Alicia Sanerivi (York, 2020-01-12)

#1086

It’s an important part of the York cultural agenda, unique in the country in many ways, and administration should be ashamed of even thinking about it.

Ana Cavalcanti (York, 2020-01-12)

#1090

Enjoyed this year’s show every bit as much as previous years. The cast is what makes this panto so brilliant and is the reason we keep coming back.

Angela Hart (York, 2020-01-12)

#1091

This event is huge for the city. It brings people together and gives us a bloody good laugh with a traditional background. I do hope this is reconsidered

Paul Richardson (York, 2020-01-12)

#1094

I lived in York for 30 + years, and still go back every year to see the panto

Clive Dodds (Bedford, 2020-01-12)

#1095

I’m signing because it’s a tradition that family’s from all over love and look forward to coming to see. It’s shameful they haven’t been invited back, after so many successful years.

Margaret Earl (Derby, 2020-01-12)

#1098

I want this excellent pantomime to continue to give pleasure to all who have supported it over 40 years.

Stephen Hall (Thirsk, 2020-01-12)

#1102

It's a York tradition and it needs to stay

Rachael Anderson (York, 2020-01-12)

#1103

It's the best panto in the world!

Joshua Cole (London, 2020-01-12)

#1105

The theatre royal pantomime has been a highlight of my year since I was born and the thought of it going fills me with horror.

Heather Taylor (York, 2020-01-12)

#1109

Best panto ever and a family tradition.

Donna Clayton (York, 2020-01-12)

#1110

I love it and have been to every one Berwick has done.

Alex Jones (York, 2020-01-12)

#1111

I’m signing because this is a traditional family experience enjoyed by the whole family. My 2 year old granddaughter was as enthralled as myself. There is not much family entertainment these days that you can say that about.

T Chambers (Driffield, 2020-01-12)

#1115

This is stupidity itself. Why kill off a popular York tradition?

Ruth Thompson Van Gogh (York , 2020-01-12)

#1122

The panto has been a huge part of our family Christmas for 20 years

Suzanne Bedford (Qhitby, 2020-01-12)

#1128

I have been going to the panto every single Christmas with my Nanna Sheila since I was 5, I am now 22.
It is a definite yearly event that brings my Family together every single year, in a time where my cousins and most other children are obsessed with their mobile phones and don’t want to participate in family events.
What an incredible shame to take this away from so many.

Kendall Craven-Evans (York, 2020-01-12)

#1129

My daughter and I look forward to this panto every year. It's part of our Christmas. We have seen other pantos and they don't measure up..this is the only one we want to see.

Sarah Wilson (York, 2020-01-12)

#1130

this panto was our families tradition every xmas without fail we went since we were kids. now im 35 and my sister is 31, i dont live in the country anymore but still think of it as part of xmas and was lucky enough to return this year. i know we’re not the only family to have 30 plus years of tradition about to be broken. absolutely ridiculous decision, its still as popular as ever and its part of the furniture at the theatre royal. i hope the decision is reversed.

Jen Cooper (Füssen, 2020-01-12)

#1131

I have been going to the York panto since I was a kid and it is the most amazing experience that should not be ruined by Tom and his team.

Becki Warner (Peterborough , 2020-01-12)

#1132

This has and still is the best ever panto I have ever seen and I've been going for over 35 years. It is unique and I and my family laugh so much tears run down our eyes. The best entertainment ever. The Theatre Royal management must be totally mad to stop it.

Roger Etheridge (York , 2020-01-12)

#1134

The panto show must go on it's a traditional thing

Tracy McMahon (York, 2020-01-12)

#1138

It's one of the few pantomimes around that doesn't seem to come off a conveyer belt and York Theatre Royal Trust would be STUPID to get rid of it if it brings in a lot of your yearly profits!

Geraldine Ferry (York, 2020-01-12)

#1149

The York panto is 'our rubbish' the cast are like family to us all who come every year and the panto as we know and love it is the heart of York theatre royal and the highlight of the year to so so many people.

Katie Nelson (York , 2020-01-12)

#1150

I love this panto cast and have seen them perform many times over the last 40 years. I now take my own children (age 7 and 2) and they absolutely love it. I hope they will continue to perform for many more years!

Chris Chambers (Linton, 2020-01-12)

#1152

As a regular visitor to York Theatre Royal, I cannot believe that someone has let Tom Bird propose changes to the format of the annual pantomime. Does he not understand just what a Berwick Kaler audience ? Does he not appreciate the publicity, money, love and affection it creates ? This pantomime must be saved or I fear the long term damage it will do to the theatre.
This is a huge family that is being torn apart.
I would suggest to everyone who signs this petition, please send a separate letter to the theatre.

Steve Mansfield (Fotherby, Louth, 2020-01-12)

#1153

To support the cast of the York Theatre Royal and to make Tom Bird aware that he is completely out of touch with the audience who attend this wonderful, crazy, unique Panto that has been a wonderful tradition for over 40 years.

Elizabeth Birch (York, 2020-01-12)

#1154

We love the panto. Been coming 20 years. We will not attend an alternative. We will follow the cast.

Danielle Hawkins (Ash Vale, 2020-01-12)

#1155

This panto and this cast have been integral to Christmas for years and are much loved by panto goers in York and elsewhere

Marieanne Davy Ball (York, 2020-01-12)

#1159

All I can say is that this has been part of my Christmas for over 40 years, our group ranges from 16 to 83. Nothing like an evening of good clean rubbish for the family to all enjoy.

Hazel Whur (York, 2020-01-12)

#1163

The panto is great

Edward Bentley (York, 2020-01-12)

#1165

I've been coming to this pantomime since I was a child - it's a York institution and to lose it would be hugely detrimental. I would hazard a guess that it is a huge income stream for the theatre, so axing it seems like madness!

Becci Leckenby (York, 2020-01-12)

#1169

This panto was my childhood! Loyal actors and audience need keeping at the Theatre Royal!!

Jenna Stones (York, 2020-01-12)

#1182

I’ve attended this pantomime on several occasions and it never fails to exceed my expectations. Absolutely a national treasure!

James Atkinson (Selby, 2020-01-12)

#1185

I spent all my childhood at this fantastic panto and many since

Donna Potts (York, 2020-01-12)

#1186

Pantomime at TheTre Royal is a family tradition going back as long as I can remember and is the highlight of the Christmas holiday for a little t of families. Having been a regular for 50 years myself and my own childre, next year we were going to continue the tradition by bringing our grandchildren for the first time. What on earth are the management thinking! You don't know a good thing when you fall over it!!!

Julie Lund (York, 2020-01-12)

#1187

I very rarely sign and share online petitions but I am prepared to vehemently defend my belief that pantomime can be one of the finest theatrical art art forms, of which the York Theatre Royal pantomime is the pinnacle. Any decision to cancel the pantomime would be ill-sighted and utterly wrong-headed.

Chris Whitwood (Rotherham, 2020-01-12)

#1191

To Axe the Pantomime after all the hard work by everyone is a Joke!!! Long live panto it’s part of all our lives

Sarah Gardiner (York, 2020-01-12)

#1196

After 41 years it would be such a shame for the panto to end. Like myself many people have grown up watching the panto every year and means alot to so many people. Its a tradition for lots of families to go every year, so would be a massive shame to stop it.

Dean Richardson (York, 2020-01-12)
