To stop the Royal British Legion closing the 4 Break Centres across the UK and Handy van Service.

Comments

#1801

The poppy breaks are a oufe line for some people and they must remain.
People need to know more about what the legion can do for them so that people know they can claim.

Lorraine Luckhurst (Bicester, 2019-11-23)

#1802

Byng House must remain open for the benefit of current and ex-services personnel, veterans and families who rely on this respite facility.

JOYCE STEPHENS (Liverpool, 2019-11-23)

#1803

I totally disagree with the RBL proposal to axe these services

Ollie Allerhead (Gravesend , 2019-11-23)

#1806

As an ex-serviceman of 22 years I feel these facilities offer an invaluable opportunity to those without the means to pay for respite themselves.

Dave Manktelow (Rowlands Gill , 2019-11-23)

#1807

My father used these services when he was alive, and they made a big difference to his life. Shame on BL

Mark Hudson (Nottingham , 2019-11-23)

#1808

As a Veteran, I know this is a vital service for former service personnel.

David Hill (Weston Super Mare, 2019-11-23)

#1810

My father and father in law served in the air force and army

Sharee Smith (Blackburn, 2019-11-23)

#1811

My father served

Philip Smith (Blackburn, 2019-11-23)

#1813

As an ex-service man these centres are badly need by my brothers and sisters in arms

David Pearson (Lincoln, 2019-11-23)

#1814

This cannot be allowed to happen.

john williams (Epsom , 2019-11-23)

#1815

This is a life life for many allowing them to regroup and reach our knowing they are not alone

Terri Pugsley-Davies (Calbourne, 2019-11-23)

#1817

I'm signing cause both my grandad served

Abigail Smith (Blackburn, 2019-11-23)

#1820

I am a retired serviceman

Derek Hunter (Colchester, 2019-11-23)

#1821

The RBL is no longer a service charity, its a business run for the benefit of the board of directors and the employees. They hoard money and pay ridiculous wages.
The first 30+ million collected each year goes to pay these wages while old men and women go out as volunteers in the middle of winter with collection boxes. IT IS A DISGRACE

JOhn Kemp (Winterton, 2019-11-23)

#1823

I am a falklands veteran and now a carer for my mother. We have only recently heard about somerset house in Weston super mare. We are currently on the waiting list for one of the disabled access rooms and were really looking forward to a nice break together.

keith sanders (Frome , 2019-11-23)

#1832

Damage to ex forces was caused by service to the country. Thd country has a duty of care to look after these damaged people

Kev Trew (Alford , 2019-11-23)

#1833

I think this is a disgusting decision by people at the top who don’t have any connection to the membership

David Barr (Stevenston , 2019-11-23)

#1835

I think it’s bullshit what they’re doing

Dyllan Rudge (Birmingham, 2019-11-23)

#1837

Our veterans in northern Ireland need somewhere like Bennett house for rest bite for them and their families, having to travel across the water is not an option for some people, its a disgrace to even think of closing this wonderful place

carol cooke (Antrim , 2019-11-23)

#1838

I know that this is a vital facility that needs to be saved

Anna O'Connor (Merseyside, 2019-11-23)

#1839

Because there are Veterans and their families that need these facilities.

Kevin Strauther (Oxford , 2019-11-23)

#1840

As an ex member of the armed forces I don't want to see services reduced

Trevor Cooper (Bournemouth, 2019-11-23)

#1843

I’m signing this petition because these homes are invaluable for veterans and their families for respite breaks. Our Veterans served our country and deserve a break at these homes. The staff are amazing and work so hard in looking after people and making their stay enjoyable.

Margaret Ruth Kerr (Omagh , 2019-11-23)

#1847

Giving people a break away from their normal life can be so important

David Bell (Birmingham , 2019-11-23)

#1853

I'm signing because I believe the Royal British Legion are making a big mistake. They should be able to afford to take on more Case Workers without closing down these centres.

Cyril Eaton (Northwich, 2019-11-23)

#1854

People that cannot afford a holiday especially with children would really miss this, it would be an awful shame.

Jane Hancock (Plymouth , 2019-11-23)

#1856

I believe, as a veteran and member of the Royal British Legion, that this goes against the Core Values of the RBL.
Get rid of high earning administrative positions and spend the Donations where they are meant to go!

Peter Wood (Withernsea, 2019-11-23)

#1857

The centres provide a safe environment for the serving and former members of HM forces who are in need of respite. Keep them open, they served our nation and risked their lives for us. Lest we forget.

Mark Benson (Enniskillen, 2019-11-23)

#1858

These facilities need to be saved for the benefit of veterans welfare.

Brian Marsden (Thirsk, 2019-11-23)

#1859

I'm signing because I am in full agreement that there are people out there who may now and in future times, need these facilities..

Brian Hill (ROMFORD, 2019-11-23)

#1861

These closures go against the principles of the charity, they are supposed to help and support veterans

Bill Anderson (Scunthorpe , 2019-11-23)

#1862

I feel strongly about this and will never support or donate to the RBL if they continue down this route

Elizabeth Woolliscroft (Warrington, 2019-11-23)

#1863

It would be great shame to lose these facilities the mean so much to Ex fprces

David Kenny (Bradford, 2019-11-23)

#1866

I'm just about to go on holiday to Anderson House Hotel in Bridlington and want to go there in the Forse able future.

Geoffrey Hamson (Worksop , 2019-11-23)

#1868

I'm a member of rbl and to many sites are closing.

Michael Dale (Ru , 2019-11-23)

#1869

I’m signing this because I am a long long standing RBL member and I do not want to see valuable services available to us veterans disappear. Please reconsider.

Derek Reid (Winnersh, 2019-11-23)

#1870

I am fuming they could even be thinking of doing this to our brave service men and women. IT MAKES A MOCKERY of the 11 November

Beryl Shepherd (Southport Merseyside, 2019-11-23)

#1871

I'm disgusted at the penny pinching attitude of TRBL. We work hard for our beneficiaries, they do not deserve their respite care too be taken away in such an underhand and uncaring way
SHAME ON YOU.

Graeme Tomlinson (Lisburn , 2019-11-23)

#1872

These places are so important to our vets

Terry Kennedy (Whitehaven , 2019-11-23)

#1873

This is a badly needed service.

Sue Wilton (Rushden, 2019-11-23)

#1874

Many veterans desperately need a break which they would othewise not be able to afford

Rick Townsend (Leopoldshohe, 2019-11-23)

#1876

RBL should be opening more local facilities - not closing them. The top echelon in London seem to have lost all contact with the needs of veterans etc

MARTIN PEARSON (CARDIFF, 2019-11-23)

#1878

It seems bizarre to close a facility presumably used and useful to people in need

Nick Ireland (Stamford, 2019-11-23)

#1880

as an ex veteran myself many veterans and there partners need res bite ,and this is only way some can get it .

IAN THOMPSON (NOTTINGHAMSHIRE, 2019-11-23)

#1884

Service Families from Chester have previously had the chance to go to Byng House when their service person is deployed. It gives service families a chance for a holiday & use of the fantastic facilities. As a veteran I have not yet had the chance to apply for a break at one of the centres due to the set criteria, but feel it would be a great loss knowing that these wonderful centres are not available.

Lorraine Lawrenson (Mold, 2019-11-23)

#1890

These facilities contribute a lot to veterans

Alex Melrose (Glasgow, 2019-11-23)

#1892

Disgraceful decision making needs to be put to the membership.

Damon Sugden (Leeds, 2019-11-23)

#1898

This is another example of the RBL run as a business and not a charity like it is meant to be.
The amount of money raised every year by the Poppy appeal is vast and can keep these places open.
RBL are only thinking of themselves and not the veterans that they are suppose to look after.

Nick Holden (Horwich, 2019-11-23)

#1899

i find this disrespectful that the RBL closing down these placesthe British ppl donate money each year in november by buying poppies, badges anything to do with RBL to keep these places open and to remember the sacrifice paid by the men an woman of the UK armed forces personel that are homeless, living in squalor and need the funds to help them i would like to kno why the karge amount of funds raised that is just sitting in the banks doing nothing when should b used in helping these veterans.....

Andy penn (Liverpool, 2019-11-23)

#1904

These places are a godsend to a lot of serving and veterans

Ian Brooke (Heckmondwike, 2019-11-23)

#1905

As amilitary veteran i would hope that the premier charity for veterans would have the courage to keep open these centres where men who have served honourably can seek comfort and assistance.

Ian Sinclair (London, 2019-11-23)

#1911

I am signing this because I feel that this service is a vital part for the military veterans and there families, and when more and more service personnel are leaving the services and may suffer with mental health issues. I am also discussed with the RBL as every year they ask for poppy appeal and may loads of money out of it, shameful of RBL.

Derrick Wardally (Newark, 2019-11-23)

#1921

These places are needed

John Kyle (Aberdeen , 2019-11-23)

#1924

Invaluable service & plenty of money raised so should be kept open.....

Melanie Church (Bridlington , 2019-11-23)

#1927

I think that all soldiers and there family should get support because they have gave up there normal life to fight for this country and they deserve a lot of respect. For what they do. We should always remember the ones that died for us

Joe Milkins (Weston super mare , 2019-11-23)

#1929

BYNG HOUSE IS A PLACE PEOPLE CAN ENJOY THE COMPANY OF OTHER LIKE MINDED ...THEY ARE WELL LOOKED AFTER WITH WONDERFUL FOOD ..EXCELLENT ROOMS...STAFF ARE FANTASTIC....how could they even think of clising it down.. after the MILLIONS THAT HAS BEEN SPENT....SHOCKING

HILDA KINGSLEY (SOUTHPORT, 2019-11-23)

#1930

We've had a family member stay at Byng House & he thoroughly enjoyed his time there so much so that he didn't want to leave sadly he died a month later but that break gave him a new lease of life though short-lived.

Hazel Mills (Southport, 2019-11-23)

#1931

I think this is an invaluable opportunity for people that need support

Carol Balchin (Ipswich , 2019-11-23)

#1933

i'm a vetran my rbl subs cancelled

graham yates (Rotherham, 2019-11-23)

#1936

Why scrap something that is very beneficial to ex service personnel. The RBL has made a profit again this year so why change?

Paul Mizon (York, 2019-11-23)

#1937

This is an essential institution doing a worthy mission

stephen cheetham (Southport, 2019-11-23)

#1938

I think veterans need these establishments more than the fat cats need a pay rises or a big fat bonus.

Gordon Adlam (Southport, 2019-11-23)

#1939

The RBL is making a number of changes which have not been in the interest of those who deserve support.

Roger Webster (Millom , 2019-11-23)

#1940

Vetarons need they support the safety of others Now we should not let them down

Kevin stanton (Leicester , 2019-11-23)

#1941

These resources are needed for veterans and their families

Barbara Ferguson (Orpington , 2019-11-23)

#1943

I collect every year to support EXACTLY this kind of welfare facility. Get a grip RBL and support this and other such hostels for the homeless!

Andrew Robinson (Lutterworth, 2019-11-23)

#1944

They need to continue the good work they do already x

Dawn Ashton (Scarborough, 2019-11-23)

#1945

This is a fantastic service to help those who taught for our freedom

Richard Jones (Darlington, 2019-11-23)

#1947

I have used the break centre (Alderson house), the week away stopped me from making a stupid mistake and making me aware of what I have.

Ryan Fitzgerald (Leicester , 2019-11-23)

#1949

I’m an RBL member (at present) that doesn’t agree with this decision or the direction the Legion has taken.

Tom Barnes (Barnsley, 2019-11-23)

#1950

I won't people to know I care for the veterans old past and present they need vital places like this

Jeff Spurway (Glasgow, 2019-11-23)

#1954

the work done here is invaluable and saves many lives as and when its needed for them

broagan martin (preston, 2019-11-23)

#1956

I am a veteran, and I an appealed at the treatment this country gives us,this is just a other nail in our coffin

Davina Roberts (Denbigh , 2019-11-23)

#1959

These places are needed as respite.

Jan Ferguson (Ramsey, 2019-11-23)

#1961

Because shutting these vital establishments is totally unacceptable. How many more changes does the RBL feel the need to make ?

Steve Butterworth (Manchester , 2019-11-23)

#1963

As a Veteran, I understand how these Break Centres can help other Veterans have time away to help with healing in body and mind.

Joanne Ost (Lincoln, 2019-11-23)

#1965

All the veterans need these services and support

Michael Croarkin (Manchester, 2019-11-23)

#1966

These place need to be open to Soldiers.

Paul Hull (Wigan, 2019-11-23)

#1970

I am a veteran who was lined up to go this year because of my problems & now have suffered over this decision

Kevin Lashley (Retford , 2019-11-23)

#1971

We need to save this place to help our North West veterans, it has helped so many people, instead of putting money on to rich places like London it should be put here, it will be a massive loss if this place closes down

Barry Powell (Skelmersdale, 2019-11-23)

#1972

Ive just signed up for the RBL lottery surely theres enough money to help keep these centres open.

stephen emms (BARROW-IN-FURNESS, 2019-11-23)

#1974

Too many people are turning their backs on the armed forces and veterans, and for the RBL to now join that band wagon is the last straw. This is supposed to be a charity that supports our armed forces. Absolutely disgusting!!!!!!

Paul Chalk (Chester , 2019-11-23)

#1976

It's a vital service for veterans

Nadine Bevis (Liverpool, 2019-11-23)

#1977

This service is invaluable and represents part of a portfolio Of respite services that the British Legion has come to be known and respected for

David Prince (Godstone , 2019-11-23)

#1978

Legion must support veterans or why should we support the British legion
Disgusted

Mick Gill (Rushden, 2019-11-23)

#1981

I simply cannot afford a holiday with my children due to my condition. The Break Centres was my only hope of getting away.

Tony Wills (Plymouth , 2019-11-23)

#1982

never used it but as a vet i did.nt even know it exsited

James Grant (guildford, 2019-11-23)

#1987

I have been an RBL member since 1992 and this is Ludicrous - to let the number crunchers take over - they are missing the whole ethos of the Royal British Legion. I am at present a Branch President , have been a Standard Bearer, a Chairman, a Welfare Officer/ Caseworker, this is just WRONG

Robert Fairclough (Huddersfield, 2019-11-23)

#1992

I am furious that the high management ate thinking of closing these key centres down. You cannot put a cost on Veterans wellbeing. Maybe shut down some but not all.

Rob Bywaters (Weston-super-Mare , 2019-11-23)

#1996

Byng house offers well deserved and much needed breaks for our older armed forces personnel. The staff are fabulous and the loss will be felt by them and service users alike.
