I am signing because because Finland has been since the late 18th century one of the key countries for the studies of the material culture of classical antiquity, and thus Finland and the university of Helsinki have been making very important contributions for the understanding and investigation of European heritage based on classical antiquity. Without the lectureship Finland would lose the possibility to train students in the filed of classical antiquity and to collaborate with other partners in Europe and elsewhere in the field of this discipline being an essential part of the Humanities.
