#802

As the Msunduzi Municipality is incapable of correctly managing this landfill site, please move it! I live about 25 km away in Sweetwaters but even up here I had to keep all my windows closed because of the choking acrid smoke. Totally unacceptable!

(Pietermaritzburg, 2019-10-08)

#804

(Pietermaritzburg, 2019-10-08)

#826

My grandchildren go to those schools and we are also breathing in those toxic fumes. This is murder

(Pietermaritzburg , 2019-10-08)

#829

I have family and friends there who are affected and can't even attend school due to this. Let's look after our environment.

The municipal dump has become a health hazard to all people in Pietermaritzburg. It must be relocated

(Pietermaritzburg , 2019-10-08)

#833

I am signing this petition because I agree that having this disgusting rubbish dump in it's current location is absolutely unacceptable. The stench, filth, flies etc from the dump are very unhealthy and not fair to the local residents, especially for people who have health problems already. Every time there is a fire there, the smoke and stench reaches residential areas kilometres away. It must go.........

(Pietermaritzburg , 2019-10-08)

#834

My children go to school in the area and it is a disgrace to subject children to that much pollution. The dump is killing local industry

(PIETERMARITZBURG , 2019-10-08)

#844

I am very concerned with the air pollution and health risks to the people from this dump in a residential area

(Pietermaritzbug, 2019-10-08)

#845

It is a serious health hazard

(Pietermaritzburg , 2019-10-08)

(Pietermaritzburg , 2019-10-08)

#861

Shocking

(Howick, 2019-10-08)

#864

Unacceptable for health reasons

(Pietermaritzburg, 2019-10-08)

#866

I'm signing this because I am tired of inhaling ash. I'm signing this because I am tired of missing school because the dump is on fire. But above all, I'm signing this because I recognise the future negative impacts that the open burning of the dump can have on me, my friends and my family.

(Pietermaritzburg, 2019-10-08)

(Pietermaritzburg , 2019-10-08)

#871

(Pietermaritzburg, 2019-10-08)

#872

I am fed up with the gross negligence of the Msunduzi Municipality. This is just the cherry on the top! You guys are clueless!

(Hilton, 2019-10-08)

#884

This has been an ongoing problem for years and effects so many lives...particularly young children. Just do it!!!

(Pietermaritzburg, 2019-10-08)

(Pietermaritzburg, 2019-10-08)

#888

The landfill is causing a serious environmental and health problems for All of the residents of PMB near this area. It has a dramatic impact on people of all ages but particularly the young , old and sick. Schools are being affected and Children with asthma are very much at risk. Addressing this problem should be a Top priority when lives are at risk .

(Winterton , 2019-10-08)

#889

The waste site is a constant health hazard. Not managed well.

(Pietermaritzburg, 2019-10-08)

#893

Poor mismanagement from the local municipality with regards to the dump, no security, too many pickers, no waste mgt in terms of refuse removal, inadequate fire department with insufficient equipment, tankers, safety equipment for fire personnel and no consideration for the people who live in the town, pay rates and feel they owe the municipality. The government needs to catch a wake up - they want to rule, then do so properly instead of feathering their own nests

(Pietermaritzburg, 2019-10-08)

#897

It is beyond inhumane to be forced to breathe in those toxic fumes everytime that dump is on fire!

(Pietermaritzburg , 2019-10-08)

#901

Affects my asma

(Pietermaritzburg, 2019-10-08)

#902

The dump is a health hazard for everyone and is having terrible effects on our health!!

(Pietermaritzburg , 2019-10-08)

#904

Not only is my son in school close to the dump and is his health affected by the fumes, but the school has to close every time there is a fire for the children's sake. This is a major health hazard.

(Pietermaritzburg , 2019-10-08)

#907

People will get chronically ill breathing in these toxic fumes. Schools are disrupted, people with chest problems could die. Either move it or learn to run the dump correctly. Also, we should all be trying to recycle plastics etc.!!

(Pietermaritzburg, 2019-10-08)

#911

My daughter is attending a school nearby.
The site is not good for the environment and inconvenience to the area.

(Johannesburg , 2019-10-08)

#912

I am tired of not being able to breathe, as I live in close proximity to the New England dump site. When it is burning, tbe while town suffers/suffocates.

(Pietermaritzburg, 2019-10-08)

#915

Landfills are an environmental and health risk at all times. The people of Pietetmaritzburg have to take this matter to court and file a case against the local and health authorities - as they are not abiding the health and environmental laws and by-laws. By signing this petition I support this initiative of the taxpayers and their right to a safe and healthy environment.

(Strand, 2019-10-08)

#917

I’m signing because the smoke gets much and affects people’s chest we in Eastwood also get affected so for a healthy environment that dump shud be removed or properly maintained. Municipality have bn told several times about that dump but still it continues to burn.

(Pietermaritzburg , 2019-10-08)

#918

I attended St Charles College from 2008-2012 and this landfill site was a major issue back then.
I then continued on to study environmental science in Pretoria and furthermore completed my Honours in Environmental Science. I now understand and realize the potential danger and detrimental effects that these landfill sites can cause to our precious environment as well as the surrounding communities if they’re not managed correctly and legitimate safety precautions are implemented.

(Underberg, 2019-10-08)

#928

The impact on the community is unacceptable.

(Pietermaritzburg , 2019-10-08)

#929

I am sick and tired of the PMB Municipality's mismanagement of this once beautiful city. The landfill site is often set alight and the entire city is affected by the toxic fumes.
Enough is enough! It is time for the people in power to start listening to the public.
We do, after all, pay their salaries

(Pietermaritzburg, 2019-10-08)

#932

I can't breathe because of all the smoke

(Pmb, 2019-10-08)

#933

Too many regular fires causing toxic air. Not safe for schools and local residents!

(Pietermaritzburg , 2019-10-08)

#934

Every year Pietermaritzburg residents are exposed to the carcinogenic fumes from the municipal dump fires. The municipality cannot keep blaming the pickers. The dump should not be where it is and must be moved. Residents and firefighters are being affected by our municipalities negligence.

(Pietermaritzburg , 2019-10-08)

#935

The dump site is a health hazard.

(Pietermaritzburg, 2019-10-08)

#936

Fully endorse the concerns raised. It is not acceptable that the PMB landfill site should continue to hazard the lives of everyone living, working or schooling in the area.

(Pietermaritzburg, 2019-10-08)

#939

Enough is enough of breathing in this toxic air. For those vulnerable members of our community this is not acceptable for their health.

(Pmb, 2019-10-08)

#946

(Pietermaritzburg , 2019-10-08)

#957

It is high time this dump with its constant stench and emitting of toxic fumes is moved to a more suitable location away from densely populated areas where it is endangering the health of people on a daily basis.

(Pietermaritzburg , 2019-10-08)

#960

(Pietermaritzburg, 2019-10-08)

#987

I go to school near the dump and it make's us cough and is bad for out lungs.

(Pietermaritzburg, 2019-10-08)

(Durban, 2019-10-08)
