(Pietermaritzburg , 2019-10-07)

#421

(Pietermaritzburg , 2019-10-07)

#423

Work at one the schools close to the dump, it is terrible when the dump is on fire. Feel sorry for those living close to the dump. It is a real health hazard and needs to be moved

(Pietermaritzburg , 2019-10-07)

#426

I am signing because my health get affected by the smoke and toxic gasses in air

(Pietermaritzburg, 2019-10-07)

#427

ANC accountably does not exist as rate payers have no recourse for such blatant mis management of resources and infrastructure. Democracy is a shame.

(Pietermaritzburg , 2019-10-07)

#428

The dump is a risk to residences around the fill. It is close to schools and our children are suffering

(Pietermaritzburg , 2019-10-07)

#430

I moved back to SA from the UK so my kids could play outside.. Unfortunately now they breathe in toxic fumes!

(Pietermaritzburg , 2019-10-07)

#433

This landfill site was meant to close down years ago because it had then already reached its full capacity. Instead of finding an alternative site, our municipality prefers to let it burn for a few days every couple of months. Nevermind the eminent health risks for neighbouring communities and children at 10+ schools in very close proximity! Totally disgusting and unacceptable!

(Pietermaritsburg , 2019-10-07)

#434

I’m signing this because I am sick and tired of the stench in the air and my kids getting sick

(Pietermaritzburg , 2019-10-07)

#435

The damages horrific and dangerous for us and the animals to breathe in the toxic fumes. The dump needs to move.

(Pietermaritzburg, 2019-10-07)

#436

There is a real concern that the site is being badly mismanaged and that this is a longterm issue that needs to be resolved for the school's and residents in that area. I'm also often there and I am concerned for my health.

(Hilton, 2019-10-07)

(Pietermaritzburg , 2019-10-07)

(Pietermaritzburg, 2019-10-07)

#442

I 'm signing because my family in Pietermaritzburg are having trouble breathing and need xtra meds on the bad days.

(Amsterdam, 2019-10-07)

#446

Its a health hazard and no one is stopping the vagrants from causing havoc and they are probably the cause of the fires

(Pietermaritzburg , 2019-10-07)

#447

We can’t stand the smell and smoke anymore. Our children’s education and health is also being affected.

(Pietermaritzburg , 2019-10-07)

#451

Unhealthy mess!

(Pietermaritzburg , 2019-10-07)

#454

The land site is toxic, unsustainable and a massive hazard to the environment.
In an age where we need accelerated responses to the climate crisis, it is unthinkable that we continue to use this ineffective system to pile waste.

(Pietermaritzburg, 2019-10-07)

#461

Apart from the health hazard, its unsightly and far to close to residential areas.
The Municipality must act ! ......

(Pietermaritzburg , 2019-10-07)

#463

It's not good for every one living in Pietermaritzburg. It happens a lot. Stop it and move out off town.

(Piertermaritzburg, 2019-10-07)

#464

tHE LANDFILL SITE IS IN THE MIDDLE OF RESIDENTIAL AREA, IT HAS REACHED ITS CAPACITY OVER THE YEARS AND IT IS NOW A SERIOUS HEALTH HAZARD, CAUSING A LOT OF US TO BECOME ILL!

(Pietermaritzburg, 2019-10-07)

#468

I’m a teacher at the school and have witnessed and experienced the impact the landfill is having on staff and learners alike as a result of the air pollution. Notwithstanding the stench we endure on a daily basis!

(Pietermaritzburg , 2019-10-07)

#476

I fear for my own and everyone in the area's health. I have developed chronic sinus problems in the 5 years I have lived in the area and am sick and tired of the acrid smell even when there isn't a fire and of course the awful smoke. Please do something about it!

(Pietermaritzburg , 2019-10-07)

#481

Unlawful to subject the citizens of PMB to be exposed to these toxic fumes. It’s also ridiculous that school children have to be evacuated for their health and then miss out on schooling! We pay high enough rates, electricity and water and also subjected to filth in our city as well as all the potholes and dark streets

(Pietermaritzburg , 2019-10-07)

#483

This is polluting our air

(Hilton , 2019-10-07)

#485

I have a son at SCC and two daughters at St Johns.

Another son will be attending from 2023.

(Pietermaritburg , 2019-10-07)

I stay close by. It's horrific and degrading the city.

(Pietermaritzburg , 2019-10-07)

#490

I live in Bellevue, we wake up at night & close our windows because it's difficult to breath even in the house. My daughter & I have both had bronchial pneumonia as well.

(Pietermaritzburg , 2019-10-07)

#494

This is a terrible health hazard for young and old. serious cases already admitted to hospital. Air is the only thing in life that is free. Surely we should be able to breathe it!

(Pietermaritzburg, 2019-10-07)

#497

I live near the site and my kids go to the schools nearby

(Pietermaritzburg , 2019-10-07)

#499

I work at Varsity College across the road and it’s a health risk to me and my students. Not only a health risk but hampering education.

(Pietermaritzburg , 2019-10-07)

#504

I live up the road from the dump and the smoke is horrendous.

(Pietermaritzburg , 2019-10-07)

#506

Years of pollution.
No municipal water source for fire fighters to put out the constant fires.

(Pietermaritzburg , 2019-10-07)

#513

Golf is life

(Pmb , 2019-10-07)

(Pietermaritzburg , 2019-10-07)

#518

I am concerned for our children’s health.

(Pmb, 2019-10-07)

#519

I suffer from asthmatic bronchitis and with this smoke I could hardly breathe without coughing my lungs out. The dump needs to be moved far enough that the chronic fires that erupt there does not influence the city.

(Pietermaritzburg , 2019-10-07)

#529

I’m signing because my children are at the schools which are affected by the chemicals in the smoke as well as the smoke itself. The schools have to close on a regular basis when this landfill is on fire

(Bergville, 2019-10-07)

#530

Health concerns

(Pietermaritzburg, 2019-10-07)

#531

First the wildlife choked on poison in and along the Duzi, and now it’s our turn to choke on the poisonous air 😷😪 The current dump site reached the end of its lifetime, and should have moved 15-20 years ago already! The management and staff of the Pietermaritzburg municipality need to shape up or ship out!

(Pietermaritzburg , 2019-10-07)

#534

My grandchildren are being affected by the toxic smoke from the dump, not only health wise, but also because they are now missing school as well!

(Pietermaritzburg, 2019-10-07)

#541

I am signing because my kids are at schools right near there and I fear for their health and safety.

(Pietermaritzburg , 2019-10-07)

#543

This is a big concern, especially when it comes to our children's health.

(Pietermaritzburg , 2019-10-07)

#544

Something needs to be done about this!

(Pietermaritzburg, 2019-10-07)

#547

I live in Hayfields and the landfill site appears to be burning on a regular basis engulfing the area with toxic acrid smoke for days at a time. Please move this landfill site away from all residential areas as this smoke is detrimental to our health.

(Pietermaritzburg, 2019-10-07)

#550

These dump fires are effecting our health and quality of life

(Pietermaritzburg, 2019-10-07)

#551

We are getting sick

(Pietermaritzburg, 2019-10-07)

#552

My husband and I moved to Hayfields this year. We have been more ill than we have ever been in our lives this year. We often have to go and stay with family outside of Hayfields as our house becomes unlivable due to the smoke!

(Pietermaritzburg, 2019-10-07)

#553

The city dump is on fire again and it is endangering the health of all these children.

(Pietermaritzburg , 2019-10-07)

#554

I'm sick of the dump always burning and polluting the air, and nothing done about it. Twice in six months, really!!!

(Pmburg, 2019-10-07)

#555

I'm signing the petition because my daughter is going to school in the area and the air is not safe when the dump is on fire

(Pietermaritzburg, 2019-10-07)

#556

The air pollution is horrific, staying in Scottsville and the dirt air hangs around in the hollow.

(Pmb, 2019-10-07)

#561

The municipal dump has made living in PMB a nightmare, I am concerned for the wellbeing of my family. If nothing is done about this I will be forced to move elsewhere.
#movethedump

(Pietermaritzburg, 2019-10-07)

#563

Health hazard to all who work there, stay in surrounding area of Pietermartizburg. Environmental hazard. This is totally unacceptable!

(Pietermartizburg , 2019-10-07)

#564

Its polluting pmb.

(Pietermaritzburg , 2019-10-07)

#567

It's disgusting to think that the world is being distroyed before our eyes and we(I) can't do anything about it, but some people can and I don't understand why they aren't taking action to stop all this pollution. I am one of thousands that actually care about this beautiful world that we live in, while others don't care and will keep on distroying it until there is nothing left then only say to themselves "we should of done something... "

So please let's all take one step together to try make this world a better place to live in try transform it back to the world that God gave us!
And move this dump, but not just to another location but try do something about it because it won't help moving it, it will still produce the same amount of pollution wherever we move it. So we need to think as one and solve this problem together like we should of done a long time ago.

(Kzn , 2019-10-07)

#568

I’m concerned for my health and the health of my children

(Pietermaritzburg , 2019-10-07)

We can't go on with things as they stand!

(Pietermaritzburg , 2019-10-07)

#577

The municipality need to clean up this mess..

(Pietermaritzburg , 2019-10-07)

#586

I nearly died when I went outside today

(Pietermaritzburg, 2019-10-07)

#591

This effects our health. Our childrens health & their education every single time it goes up in flames. Which is at least a few times every year.

(Pietermaritzburg, 2019-10-07)

#592

I am signing this petition because the toxic smoke from the dump fires is a terrible health hazard to all the people of Pmb!

(Pietermaritzbirg, 2019-10-07)

#593

The dump is a health & safety hazard! Worst is that it is affecting our children’s health & education!!

(Pietermaritzburg, 2019-10-07)

#595

This dump is extremely badly managed, there is no disaster recovery plan in place to address fires which burn every year.

The Fire Department does its best with virtually no resources.

Msundusi Municipality must address this as a matter of extreme urgency. We pay a significant amount monthly for waste management, which appears to be not being used for that purpose.
