This is an old traditional pub and should stay that way. The local pub is an old British tradition which is disappearing rapidly and we need to do something to protect it.

The China Hall is a real local asset and creates a sense of place and belonging for many. The community will be worse off without it.

The China is a fabulous local family pub at the heart of the community! Far too many local public houses are disappearing and I feel this is a huge loss to one of London's great traditions so needs to be protected and preserved! Mick and Linda run the China as an extension of their home and you will always be given a warm welcome! Let's not assign the China to the history books and wish more was done to stop it's demise along with hundreds of other locals....we will regret it when are no proper old fashioned pubs left!!

Again we absolutely object to the closure of our pubs, and the China Hall should be valued as an Asset of Community Value.
It is also well-known and well loved by the locals. It is another living record of our social history.
It also of architectural merit on the streetscape of Rotherhithe.
You can't miss it on the way to Canada Water Bus & Underground Station. We hope the previous landowners didn't sell it off to developers without prior knowledge of the current landlord!

It's a lovely pub, for local and passers by and it should stay and be involved in any development

My friend and I always visit when in London. Friendly pub serving the community. Always made to feel welcome. Sadly this is missing in lot of places. Hope successful. Will visit again in April

Recently an old chap said to me 'Southwark Council has demolished more old building and pubs than Hitler's bombs did'

(London, 2017-02-07)

#415

Just leave our old pubs alone . Had enough of outsiders chainging my area

(London , 2017-02-07)

#417

I'm signing because the China hall is one of the last public houses of its kind still left in Rotherhithe, a friendly welcome is always received

(London, 2017-02-07)

#419

Pubs in the area that have closed permanently in the past few years; The Boatman, The Albion, The Clipper, The Orange Bull with a number of others at risk.

(Rotherhithe, 2017-02-08)

#420

I want to keep our local pub's

(London, 2017-02-08)

#425

Too many good family pubs are being lost in the community.

(London, 2017-02-09)

China Hall is a much needed pub opposite Southwark Park. They provide a great outlet for thirsty sports participants keen to socialise after a tough game. At Try Tag Rugby we have been using the China Hall on Tuesday and Thursdays for 7 years as our official after match venue. For 18 weeks over summer the pub become great hosts for our post match functions two nights a week. Attendance ranges from 40 people to 100 nightly. There is no alternative pub in the area that is convenient or as likely to so accomodating.

(London, 2017-02-09)

#436

Many memories from the China hall, it's an amazing pub and would really miss it if it closed!

(London, 2017-02-09)

#437

This is great local pub that adds character to an area that significantly lacks character. Knocking it down would be a tradegy- it should be protected to maintain the culture of the area.

(london, 2017-02-09)

#440

Great pub with inclusive atmosphere. Onion rings to die for

(Gold Coast, 2017-02-09)

#441

The China Hall is a massive part of our sports community playing across the road in Southwark Park. So many good times have been had here and we continue to come back regularly on Summer evenings.

The owners have been so welcoming and friendly and helped nurture a fantastic atmosphere in this establishment. The China Hall is a unique place that has helped create so many friendships in what is one of the most important aspects of our sport, the after match social.

(London, 2017-02-10)

#444

Wonderful community pub. Welcoming, friendly and great atmosphere.

(London, 2017-02-10)

#450

The China Hall is a terrific local pub, there are no other pubs like it in the area, it serves young and old alike, a real community pub, to lose it would have a detrimental impact on the area.

(London , 2017-02-10)

#452

Our heritage is being destroyed by greedy property developers.

(Wallington, 2017-02-10)

#453

It's a great long lasting community pub that should be preserved for the future.

(Enfield , 2017-02-11)

#455

I'm signing because I've been a regular there for the past 8 years. Mick is the most amazing publican and the pub is a genuine local, friendly and family oriented pub that has always made me feel welcome & i love the fact that it remains free of the cosmopolitan hype. Places like this are a rarity please keep this opened.

(London, 2017-02-13)

The China Hall for many years always welcomes us into their pub with a warm smile and open arms. Without The China Hall, our business would not be were it is today. From everyone at In2Touch we'd like The China Hall to continue to be a part of the amazing community in Southwark for years to come. To the staff and owners, we wish you all the best and cannot thank you for what you have done for us and the many In2Touch players over the years. The teams thoroughly enjoy their time spent in your lovely garden and enjoy the great service you always provide. Best of luck and we'll see you soon!

So many fond memories of after touch drinks. This place is iconic for the touch league and surrey quays. Fully support saving the China hall

(London, 2017-02-16)

#464

Me and many touch rugby teams have been using the China Hall as a base after games for the last 10 yrs. they have always been friendly and accommodating when other pubs in the area haven't. I would be a real shame to see it go.

(London, 2017-02-21)

Too many pubs are lost every year to property developers and supermarkets. People need good pubs to drink and socialise in.

(Windsor, 2017-03-19)

#482

To preserve the area's history

(London , 2017-03-25)

#486

I am signing because I am fed up of working class places being bought up by developers.turned onto an eyesore, usually with promises of something for us, then having it sold off to Russian and Chinese interests like the Lewisham new builds, being un-affordable for the average person who can no longer afford to live in their own area.
If it isn't community led it's not in our interests.Cultural reference points have disappeared all over London. Look at what happened with the Heygate Estate SAME BOROUGH COUNCIL. Shame on a Labour Council selling off our family silver, our Social Housing, after a jolly with developers.Corrupt politicians should have no say on what happens in our areas.Labour should aspire to the values and ethics it was built on.

(London, 2017-04-03)

#487

The China Hall is part of the character of the local area. There shouldn't have to be a debate about its future.

(London, 2017-04-03)

(London, 2017-04-20)

#514

The China Hall is a big big part of Bermondseys Heritage...surely the pub should be a listed building...this has to stop what the Councils are destroying...Traditional pubs that has withstood time are getting ripped down not thinking about the local Community !!!

(South East London, 2017-04-20)

#519

Community sports club not just a pub. Due to proximity of park it should remain connected to community run/access facility for locals.

(london, 2017-05-05)

(queen charlotte, 2017-05-08)
