I'm signing because Ekurhuleni is very, very, very dirty. Iam staying at Birch Acres Ext 3.Grass has grown all over and they are not cutting. Potholes, dirt, our parks looks like pigstyle. Trres has not been treated, some trees has even close our street lights. We can even be muged by dangerous people or thugs. Our kids they can't even go play at the park because it is not safe for them especially girls. They can be rape because of the grass. We can be search because it is not a safe environment. It really smell. Ekurhuleni is VERY DIRTY, ESPECIALLY BIRCH ACRES. WE PAY SERVICES BUT MUNICIPALITY IS NOT DOING ITS WORK. Residents are paying for a service to have their waste collected and that service is not being rendered. This is unfair because we are in fact paying for something that we are NOT receiving. It also goes without saying that waste accumulating on the streets for weeks on end causes serious heath risks such as bacteria caused by rodents, flies and other vermin. I feel that the DA can do a bit more to force the ANC to do their duties to the residents of Ekurhuleni.

Waste is being collected irregularly and causes serious health issues, not to even mention the frustration of dragging the heavy municipal dustbins outside and back inside every day for weeks on end. Many residents' dustbins have been stolen due to this. It could also cause crime, due to potential criminals setting bins on fire to coax residents out of their homes with the intention of robbing them or worse.

EMM is in dereliction of its obligation under Chapter 7 of the SA Constitution which stipulates that municipalities must provide accountable services in a sustainable manner to promote a safe and healthy environment. Further in the EMM by-laws Chapter 2 it is stated that the Metro "shall" provide a service for refuse removal. Not "may", not "might", not "when convenient". "SHALL" constitutes a cast-iron undertaking and obligation. The same chapter also states that owners/residents have to pay for the service, whether they use it or not. There is no provision in same regarding failure to render the service by Metro and non-charge or refund to owners/residents accordingly. Why not?

I am tired of putting the rubbish bin out on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and then they only collect on Saturday or on Sunday, this is not the correct procedure, our bins are being scratched in every day and many bins have been stolen, the vagrant's walk around with stolen bins and the metro police and SAPS just leave them. We can't sit and watch our bins 6days a week, while Ekurhuleni municipality does not do what they get paid for.
