Residents Against Noise Disturbance From Flanagan's, Sasolburg

We call upon Free State Liquor Board to revise the Liquor License issued to Flanigan’s Bar and Grill (Formerly known as “Redwoods Restaurant”), situated in John Vorster Avenue, Sasolburg.  Residents situated as close as 200m from Flanigan’s are being exposed to extreme noise daily.

We would like to remind you that a lot of Sasolburg residents are shift-workers.  A lot of surrounding residents are also frail and old people with health problems.   We ask you kindly to revise said Liquor License in regard to Environment Conservation Act (73 of 1989) and Noise Control Regulations 1999, in particular Section 25: Regulations regarding noise, vibration and shock.

We also request for you to refer to the Municipal by-laws and Provincial Legislation, for example:  the governing of disturbing noise (loud party music) and to ensure that noise be kept within acceptable legal decibel levels in order not to disturb the peace of the neighbourhood.

Please bear in mind that our aim is nót to shut Flanagan's down. We support Small Business in Sasolburg, especially in this challenging times and wish for business-owners and residents to co-exist in peace and harmony. However, we want to make it clear that the Owner(s) and Management of Flanagan's must take in consideration that they have moved into a facility which is directly situated (250m from the nearest block of flats) in a residential area where pensioners, families with school children, frail and sick people, as well as shift-workers live. Current noise levels are unacceptable and residents must be taken in consideration.
