 Why not support local businesses and ask smaller craft / art shops to sell it like www.artpothecary.co.uk we support cosplayers and crafters, give free postage and discounts to those who cant afford the full wack for big projects. It's, quite frankly, upsetting to see this petition and watch as another huge, faceless company might take away my livlihood.

 You need to advertise within the community more as most cosplayers have never heard of your shop!  This isn't about putting anyone out of business,  it's about the availability of the product.  There are cosplayers who work for Hobbycraft who are also on board with this.

And, as someone on social networking suggested, whilst your suggestion is a great one, most indie art stores are likely to use Coscraft as a supplier, which means they'd need to add their own profit margin mark up to Coscraft's price, meaning Coscraft would still be cheaper. Hobbycraft would not need to do this, and would quite probably charge a price competitive to Coscraft.
