Went out looking for our new dog today 4 months after our old dog passed away, went to Dogs Trust Leeds first, lovely set up, clean and warm kennels and great exercise area.

Then went to Ponderosa Pet Rescue in Allerton Bywater. Absolutely terrible place, the supposed exercise area was filthy with rubbish lying around, the kennels were damp, dark, disgustingly dirty, stunk of (excuse me) urine, you had to peer at the dogs through a 2ft square grill in the wall - almost impossible to see them - their bedding was filthy. The only information available on the dogs were their sex, age and sales price - Yes "Sales Price" not adoption fee. The dogs we looked at had a "sales price" set at anything from £200.00 to £300.00.
We did ask about one of the resident dogs - a Golden Labrador - and were told "We have not decided on the selling price yet". Had nothing to say about the dogs history, temperament, health etc.

We both left with the feeling that you had to take a dog from them as you could not leave any dog in those conditions, but you could not take a dog as you would be supporting this disgusting operation.

They are supposedly a registered charity.

We would like to do something about this operation, can you make any suggestions.
