It's a disgrace that the way these rescues can treat dogs and discard them when there are charity registered .

i have had dealings with Ponderosa Kennels in the past when transporting a dog fir Wakefield Council, the place was awful. the recent stories i have heard about them is just plain and simply about MONEY and nothing to do with ANIMAL CARE, place and people associated with Ponderosa Kennels should be stopped.

I work in a rescue and have a rescue dog myself. Many years ago I went to ponderosa to look for a dog for myself, but drove away without looking as the place smelt so bad and was run down, I was shocked to see it still up and running.

too many dogs are been PTS needlessly in the uk, we have a moral duty to care for those who have no voice. to abuse and mistreat any living creature goes against all i believe in.
i hope that through this petition we can help even a few of these beautiful and intelligent animals and have the Ponderosa closed down for good

No dog should suffer especially at the hands of a rescue.

From previous work experience I've witnessed first hand how poorly run and how uneducated and the lack of compassion and duty of care these so called animal lovers show.

Went out looking for our new dog today 4 months after our old dog passed away, went to Dogs Trust Leeds first, lovely set up, clean and warm kennels and great exercise area.

Then went to Ponderosa Pet Rescue in Allerton Bywater. Absolutely terrible place, the supposed exercise area was filthy with rubbish lying around, the kennels were damp, dark, disgustingly dirty, stunk of (excuse me) urine, you had to peer at the dogs through a 2ft square grill in the wall - almost impossible to see them - their bedding was filthy. The only information available on the dogs were their sex, age and sales price - Yes "Sales Price" not adoption fee. The dogs we looked at had a "sales price" set at anything from £200.00 to £300.00.
We did ask about one of the resident dogs - a Golden Labrador - and were told "We have not decided on the selling price yet". Had nothing to say about the dogs history, temperament, health etc.

We both left with the feeling that you had to take a dog from them as you could not leave any dog in those conditions, but you could not take a dog as you would be supporting this disgusting operation.

They are supposedly a registered charity.

We would like to do something about this operation, can you make any suggestions.

The personal dealings we have had and have only just bitterly ended with this establishment was a little different to a rescue. We lost an entire litter of puppies to the heinous woman who is the face of Ponderosa. When our bitch became ill, we were offered 'help' to look after the pups until mum was better. Only to be told when we wanted to collect and reunite them to mum so she could take over feeding them again (a matter of less than 2days), that we couldn't have them back as we'd signed them over. Cruelly misled when under complete emotional distress,  we understood what we were signing was to say the puppies belonged to us. When we said on collection in a few days when the Dam was well again we would make a generous donation to the rescue,  we were never corrected or had explained to us again that we were agreeing to sign over so they would not be ours anymore. We never received a copy. It has taken us 6 long weeks of solicitors letters, trying to visit the kennels to talk and discuss and being verbally abused and turned away, to eventually get the Police to see it as a criminal investigation.  Only for the woman to turn on the charm on and supposedly produce the signed document that she wouldn't show us. Sadly,  the police accepted the document and signature as genuine and closed the case! We were never even offered the chance of a copy or viewing of it!

This hideous place took our beautiful puppies under a false offer of help and we have never seen them since,  even though she told us that within hours of taking them she had made a video of them and put it to music and that she would send us a copy.  She has told us she will be 'selling' them from 8 weeks old, Tuesday 1 March, for £300 each.

Noone should be lied to and deceived in this way. Our pups lost their natural mum and socialisation and she was despondent for weeks and had to have her milk dried up. This operation is being run solely as a money making business and has no animals welfare at heart. It doesn't have a heart! Please spread this petition far and wide and help to close it down.

Ponderosa are well known for how appallingly they treat the dogs in their care..they state all dogs are walked for 30 minutes everyday which I know is 100% utter rubbish..the only walk those dogs get is if college kids walk them or when they get a new home and they are walked out of the place.. I once bought a doberman from them which had no hair, they told me their vet had seen her and stated it was due to the length of time she'd been in their kennels (kennel stress).. I took her to see my vet and it was hormonal, she also had old injuries which cost her her life just 2 years later! They need closing down

This So called Dog Rescue is a disgrace. The animals are totally neglected and the conditions terrible. The Manager and staff are absolute Idiots and show no compassion for the Dogs. They are only interested in getting the dogs out without home checks or spaying in place. Financial considerations are all that matters. I thought they had closed down but unfortunately have re opened and the staff are the same NON CARING IDIOTS. I challenged this women asking why she doesn't carry out house checks and her response, - WELL IT MAKES NO DIFFERENCE. What kind of answer is this. THIS PLACE NEEDS TO BE LOOKED INTO AND CLOSED DOWN NOW. ANIMALS ARE SUFFERING.
