its a disgusting situation moving backwards rather than forwards. The skin colour , tattoos, hair colour is part of an individuals choice and NHS workers are already under valued and underpaid, now they want to start treating us like cattle. Like we were enlisted or somehing? These people employ us they do not control our personal choices ...im disgusted

I don't agree with calling it hair 'racism' but I agree that BSUH staff should be allowed to have whatever hair colour they like as this does not affect their ability to do their job.

I work for BSUH and the patients always comment on how much they love my hair colour. It happens to be blue.

Ludicrous!!!! I'd rather have compassionate care from anyone with Rainbow Hair colours, than the sometimes cursory In and Out from your standard type.

I wouldn't care what colour hair a nurse looking after me had nor would i care what colour skin they had either. Maybe they should spend more time looking after patients instead of thinking up ridiculous policy's.

Nhs should spend more time on there patients then thinking about what there hard working staff look like. Get out your office and go and meet those people and maybe you will see through there hair colour which clearly offends you.

In a country and city that are supposed to be supporting diversity, I find these types of decisions inappropriate and unbelievable. How does the colour of someone's hair have any effect on their ability to carry out their job professionally. It's very unfortunate that some of the staff being targeted are the most professional, committed and caring people I know - they are respected by colleagues and parents and loved by the patients. Get a grip guys!!! Try focusing on issues which are important.

As we all should acknowledge colour, whether of hair or skin is immaterial.This ruling has nothing to do with health and safety ,efficieny, aptitude,and cannot be allowed to stand.

Surely there is more for a hospital to worry about then hair colour of staff like having enough staff to look after patients properly. Waste if time and money. Make the people who decided this do some proper work!

This is outright discrimination. Hair colour does not affect ability to carry out work. Nor is it a health and safety risk - many tattooists for example have dyed hair and they don't even tie it back when they're opening up your skin to put droplets of ink in it.

And what about ladies (and gents) who dye their hair to cover greys? I suppose they want that banned too, along with all the beautiful multi-coloured shades we see every day in Brighton and Hove?
