Jo Shuter must never return to King Solomon High School!

FORMER Quintin Kynaston headteacher has been banned from unsupervised teaching for life after a misconduct hearing into the abuse of school funds found her guilty of “unacceptable professional conduct”.

Jo Shuter, who resigned from the academy school in Marlborough Hill, Swiss Cottage, last year, faced at panel in Coventry last month.

She was handed a “prohibition order” that bans her from teaching children unsupervised, with no chance for a review.

In a written decision, published today (Tuesday), the National College for Teaching and Learning wrote: “In reaching this conclusion the panel has taken into account the significant length of time over which the proved facts took place, the amounts of money involved and the breadth of areas involved in these breaches.”

The panel took the decision to ban Ms Shuter to maintain “public confidence in the profession,” adding: “This is particularly so in Ms Shuter’s case, in light of her high national profile as an influential figure in the education world and public recognition as head teacher of the year and her receipt of a CBE. This high profile increases the risk of public confidence in the profession being undermined.”

The financial irregularities, which Ms Shuter had agreed to before the hearing, were laid out in the report. At the hearing, Ms Shuter agreed that these abuses amounted to “unacceptable professional conduct and/or conduct that may bring the profession into disrepute.”

Abuses to the school's expenses systems that were considered by the panel included:

• Mobile phone bills for herself, son and daughter

• Taxis to restaurants including Ivy and Wolseley

• Delivery of £1,500 worth of furniture to her home

• Hotel stay for senior staff of over £8,000

• A 50th birthday party, totalling £7,000

• Used her personal assistant, paid for by the school, to organise her private consultancy work and organising bookings of her Turkish holiday villa

The panel acknowledged that Ms Shuter had been a “force for good in many respects” including the positive effect she had when she took over the failing Pimlico School in 2008. She said that running the school alongside QK had led her to “conflate personal use and school use of taxis.” But it added: “Ms Shuter was only headteacher of Pimlico School until August 2008, whilst the misuse of school funds for personal taxi journeys continued until at least August 2012."

It added: “The Panel notes that Ms Shuter admits that £5,855.67 of taxi expenditure incurred by Ms Shuter over the period 1 January 2011 to 31 August 2012 was definitively identified as not being related to school business.”

Deciding not to allow Ms Shuter to appeal for the decision to be reviewed in the future, the panel wrote: “Despite approximately two more years having passed since these events came to light, Ms Shuter does not, in the Panel’s view, show genuine insight into the severity and impact of her behaviours.”

The prohibition order has been agreed by Education Secretary Michael Gove. Ms Shuter may appeal the decision in the High Court within the next 28 days.


INCREDIBLE, SHE AS MANY OF THE PARENTS THAT WANTED HER TO STAY ON COULD NOT TAKE IN THE SEVERITY OF WHAT SHE HAS DONE. NOW IF THE NCTL HAS BANNED HER SHOWS AND SAYS A LOT ON HER CHARACTER, GIVING FEEBLE EXCUSES FOR HER EXPENSES, AND THINKING SHE COULD CARRY ON AS IF NOTHING HAD HAPPENED!

She is a nutcase oblivious to her wrong doings, and the governors are even more ignorant for having hired her with this pending.

OMG NL, I have just seen the commentson Stars facebook page - whatever my feelings about Jo Shuter, as a teacher my self with many years experience in an outstanding school, what you have said is slanderous and if any of your pupils were to see the comments that you have made they would lose all respecct for you (if indeed they had any in the first place). 

How can anybody think it is acceptable to speak like that - as a wonderful teacher would you accept that kind of cyber bullying??????  hmmmmmmm .....maybe in your wonderful school (where is it you actually teach???) that type of behaviour acceptable!!!!

If anyone is cyber bulling it's you Sharron Cohen Wood! You're all ms big balls on here because you haven't signed your name but how about you come back to Facebook and say what you have to say if you're so tough. I don't understand why you feel it's ok to attack us when we only wanted what was morally the right thing to happen to Jo Shuter. Hmmmm, I am not Sharron. I am, as I said, an outstanding teacher in an outstanding school. I also made no comment regarding my views on Jo Shuter - I merely stated that the comments on your status Star, were not particulalry nice.

Well if you're not Sharron and you've got something to say why haven't you signed your name to your comments? What have you got to hide.? And honestly the comments that were made was only meant to be a bit of a laugh. It's not my fault some people can't handle it. Like I said Sharron came to my wall to post her comments. Why am I being rude. I just stated a fact that I have more experience and qualifications for a post. That is all.

I am quite proud of my achievements and I have worked really hard to be where I am today and this is without cutting corners.
If people want to give they should know how to receive. You are making up a whole situation that is non existent. I am sorry if it bothers u the fact that I have qualifications, I didn't know it would upset I so much. I believe that u r reading and seeing more than what is written.
I have been opened and frank from the start. Had I mentioned on Star's status me for head I am sure people who clearly dislike me, it is their choice, everyone is free, would have attacked me verbally. But as I am a good sport I take it on the chin.
If people cannot clearly have a proper discussion without feeling victimised or cannot take criticism them don't write on other people's walls, specially people they are not even friends with. The same happens when u write ur opinion about an article on the web u will hear people who are for what u wrote and against. It is life. Now I can see that u are very distraught because Shuter is gone and u believed her to be the key to saving KS. But it didn't happen. We who were against her are quite happy. Had it been the other way around I am sure u would be showing your contentment and celebrating. Also I am sure of one of us made a negative comment u would not hesitate in telling us what u really thought. But now the shoe is on the other foot you don't seem to be dealing very well with it. You have harvested a hatred for me or us on this petition and because u thought ur chances of being right were high u were saying what u wanted and even mentioning how nauseating I was. I see things from a teacher, mother and human being's perspective and Other people have the right to share their views. What do u think happens in the parliament? Haven't u ever seen the way they debate and some take every opportunity to belittle the other party or speaker. Well such is life. Healthy discussions broaden our horizons.

And by the way an outstanding teacher from an outstanding school wouldn't be so insecure that they would need to say that on a petition not only that but they would be doing their marking planning and prep to maintain their outstanding status! So grow a pair and sign your name to your insults!

Now you cannot assume that all the comments above have been written only by me. There are other people sharing their views here as well. By targeting me all the time I believe that I am being bullied here. I have not been rude. Like u said u r an outstanding teacher. I find that great, we need outstanding teachers in this world. But don't jump to conclusions that I would be writing all the comments. I am not defending myself just stating a fact. As an outstanding teacher that u have clearly made us aware of being you should also try and discuss things appropriately. Look everyone has a view and u clearly are not happy who the ways things have been conducted , you may have a point but it is an opened discussion. We are all adults here but we like a bit of banter. So let bygones be bygones and let's move on.

The Rise and FALL of Jo Shuter.
VIOLATING THE LAW and GETTING AWAY WITH IT?!?! Who Does She Think She Is? She needs to be brought to justice, just like the man who stole sandwiches and a can of coke. She took advantage and exploited disadvantaged students from Quintin Kynaston School, as well as Pimlico. She is a fraud, a calamity and a catastrophe. She should be locked up.
Sent to prison for benefit fraud? Jo Shuter saved from prison for ingeous fraud? There's something wrong going on.
She not only stole money from the tax payer, she stole from every student at QK. This money was their eductaion, not to supplement her lifestile.

Sack her. Get the money back and cancel her CBE.
